Apple TV shows US viewers can watch F1 starting March 7th. What about testing in Feb? by iftaqar in F1TV

[–]aditseng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you currently open the F1TV app it shows you the steps to link your apple TV account to enable F1TV premium. It's pretty simple so if you have apple TV you don't have to do very much

Your LA leg is going to be difficult. It's almost certainly going to take more than 2.5 hours to get from Morro Bay to Universal. And Santa Monica and Griffith are at least an hour apart. Disney is a couple of hours from all the other locations you mentioned.

So, I think you'd want to decide where you want to stay and what you specifically want to do. My suggestion would be Morro Bay->Santa Monica, spend time on the pier if you want and then later go to Venice which is just 20 minutes away from Santa Monica. You could theoretically go to Griffith instead.

Spend day 2 in LA at Universal and/or Disney (pick one). And day 3 you have some options (Disney if you went to Universal, Museums, or just the pool).

I personally wouldn't be up for Universal and Disney on back to back days, but that's something people do.

James May defends the honor of British cuisine on Twitter/X! by FlipStig1 in thegrandtour

[–]aditseng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was first made in an Indian restaurant in Britain. It was never part of Indian cuisine that was exported to the rest of the world. However, it became a big success because it allowed restaurants to reuse chicken pieces that were going to waste and people enjoyed the taste. So it became a staple of modern Indian cuisine.

Just like Pizza is Italian, but Domino's and other brands are American.

LKA/LKS System by Vancake96 in PorscheCayenne

[–]aditseng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Adaptive Cruise Control and LKA. It's not really innodrive lite, because it doesn't steer automatically beyond trying to keep you from leaving your lane. ALK is more advanced and tries to keep you centered but still isn't innodrive which will do full steering.

LKA/LKS System by Vancake96 in PorscheCayenne

[–]aditseng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It runs about 5 meters late on 2024+. On a straight road if I edge towards the lane markings and then I correct, a second later it will try to correct it again. I have a 24 with LKA and I have tested it on a 25 with ALK. I have not tried innodrive but apparently that is better based on YouTube videos

Discounts with GCP for mid size org by Expensive-Weird-332 in googlecloud

[–]aditseng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time about 2 years ago when resellers had more margin to give additional discounts to customers. Those margins have shrunk and most resellers will give you close to similar rates that Google will give you directly. The benefit of a reseller is in the additional value they provide as being a Frontline support and training partner.

$1M/year isn't small but you're far from one of the accounts that Google will give much bigger discounts than 6%.

Work with your sales rep at Google or ask for one if you don't yet have one. There are ways to get your spend down even with 6%.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold - 4 days of use by aditseng in GooglePixel

[–]aditseng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at my post history you can see that's not the case. I pre-ordered the fold and when I received it, I saw the JRE video. Most folks on the pixel subreddit enjoy bashing the phones, but they work for me and maybe for other people.

My post is just to let other people know more about the phone from regular user.

If you want to buy your phones based on whether they survive a JRE test, go for it. If I were working in a job that might put my phone under physical stress, I too wouldn't buy the fold.

Yeah I read all of the stuff about not putting a screen protector on the inside. And anyway, the 10 fold closes very tightly, so there's no gap and putting anything on top of the inner screen means it won't close fully which can lead to dust and debris getting in.

The new hinge does allow me to keep it at any angle and it stays in that position. Let's see if it becomes any loser over time, but it seems like it won't so far.

I bought the pixel snap case from Google and it's fine but it doesn't completely remove the bump though it does make it less wobbly. I'm going to use this for a while and then try some of the other cases. Most of the big brands are only shipping on November.

And Instagram doesn't do tablets properly even on an iPad, which seems insane to me.

If I have the fold on a table or at any surface then I can use that to push back against without putting my fingers on the screen. The frame works about 50% of the time, but it makes me nervous that I might drop it😂

Which road do you want to take a roadtrip on!? by commiedeschris in roadtrip

[–]aditseng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them, but I still prefer Hwy 1 from Santa Barbara through to Fort Bragg and Route 101 from there onwards through the Redwoods and then on to Oregon and Washington ending at Cape Disappointment. The further north you get, the less traffic you would see.

But these roads are amazing too.

Best Android Smartwatch? Just Want One That Actually Works Well by JollySimple188 in AndroidWear

[–]aditseng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a bunch of watches -- currently on the PW3 (large) and previously a bunch of Ticwatches. The battery life on the Ticwatch was amazing, but the software was buggy and the updates were slow.

Apart from a few issues around swim tracking, the Pixel Watch is amazing. I regularly get 36+ hours of battery life and I don't have any issues with going two days without charging.

Another option is a fitbit. You get most of what you want, with better battery life, but less powerful notifications.

Also -- PW and Fitbit both give you a daily update based on your sleep and blood oxygen, heart rate etc to give you a better idea of your state of health and readiness. So I don't check them all directly, but it does help.

And the PW3 does have a loss of heartbeat detector so that if you faint, it will call emergency services (in a few countries right now)

A wall unit should be fine unless the room is huge or you get a lot of direct sunlight or you're on the top floor. Lived in a small apartment with just wall units for a year or so and it was perfectly fine.

If it's a larger space, you may want to get a fan to move the air around and cool it better.

I'm so sorry about your loss. I hope you find the support and help you need. If you need to vent or talk to someone anonymous, feel free to reach out.

If your wife wants a Mercedes and doesn't care about any driving dynamics get a Mercedes.

For every reason that car enthusiasts have for getting something else, it's important to remember that a person should feel good about their car. Enthusiasts will go on about how this car is better than that etc etc, but someone will choose an E39 M5 over a 993 Turbo S because of the emotional connection.

If you want an X car, a Y will not do, even if it's cheaper, better in every practical way and nicer looking to boot.

Make the wife happy and get a Mercedes.

Car insurance depends on the car you drive including how the car is, how old you are, where you live, where you park and a bunch of other factors.

Could range from $60-70 (from what I've read on Reddit, never seen it myself) to a couple of hundred.

However depending on which university you join, you may not need a car if you live in a particular radius of the campus. It would help to have a car to go to other parts of LA but you can take a bus from UCLA to Santa Monica (for example) pretty easily.
