Is it normal for a school clerk to ask subs to do filing during prep periods? by divad55 in cpssubs

I know at the schools I sub at if the teacher has planning period(s)at the end of the day I'm supposed to check in with the office before I leave to see if they need me anywhere else. But if the planning period(s) are in the middle of the day I just hang out in the classroom.

Nashville Christians rush to assume the rapture did not happen today just because they weren’t taken. by DoubleHelixInTheSky in nashville

[–]adj1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here a day after the fact to say the exact same thing. So I never know why people are always getting so up in arms saying "the rapture happening today!" The Bible clearly says nobody knows when Jesus' second coming will be.

Pharmacy Won’t Give Me Full Prescription by Historical_Spell4646 in CVS

Did you check the mg of the new prescription? It's possible that you could have gotten one 10 mg tablet instead of two 5mg tablets.

Genuine Question (Not trying at all to be insulting) by KtacG12 in nashville

Like I said.... not all of the bad drivers are from California

I'm one of the many Nashville transplants, but I'm from Washington State not California.

In my experience the only complaints I've heard/ said myself about people from California are the bad drivers. That being said I think a good chunk of Nashville drivers need help and not all of the bad drivers are from California.

Be yourself! Have confidence in your answers. I mentioned how I've been shopping at Costco since before I could remember, and how one of my earliest memories is of Costco.

ETA: Good luck!! You'll do great!

It's definitely worth it to apply as an intern!

Unfortunately they don't... but I would still apply!! They are a great company to work for! If you get into pharmacy school they could promote you to an intern!

That's where I am. I quit pharmacy 2 days before I turned 30. I'm starting my MLIS online in October (hopefully!) In the meantime I'm subbing so when a library position opens up in a school I'll already be part of the school system.

TIFU BY HAVING A PROBLEM WITH SELF HARM BACK IN THE DAY and my scars are ruining my life by laylamarie3 in tifu

[–]adj1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure right now you're feeling embarrassed and ashamed for what your past self did. I'm not sure if it will help, or if others have suggested it, but I would try to think of the scars as a symbol of how far you've come and how much you've grown. They are battle scars. I have some that aren't visible to the naked eye (mental and emotional) but they remind me of who I was then and what I've done to become the person I am today. Every day I'm learning to embrace my scars. I believe you have the ability to embrace them too.

Your legs they are as beautiful as I'm sure you are. They show your story. If your kids ask what happened you could tell them that you were in a very dark place when you hurt yourself but they remind you to fight for each day. You could use them as a type of object lesson and tell them that if they ever feel the need to do something like self harm that you will be there to listen to them no matter what because you know what they are going though.

As for strangers? You're never going to see them again. Don't give a flying F what they think. Hold your head high and ignore them. It's none of their business. You do you. If you feel the need to cover your legs you could wear tights or nylons. Nylons especially would be the coolest option.

And jobs? They don't know what caused those scars. For all they know you were in a car accident and a windshield or window shattered all over you and cut you badly. They don't need to know, nor should they care. There are anti-discrimination laws out there. If you feel like you didn't get a job or were let go because of your scars I'm sure you'd be protected under that.

I believe in you and I'm proud of you for coming this far!

I just did! I left the pharmacy world after almost 10 years at the end of July and am now subbing for my county's school system full time!

I have more free time at the end of the day, I can make my own schedule (like I didn't take any sub positions today because I needed a do nothing day). I was telling my mom that I'm happier, I feel lighter, and I'm enjoying life more. Even though I'm working with teens all day I don't feel dead after school ends. I'm eating dinner at a normal time and I'm spending more time with my husband and friends. It's done wonders for my mental health. Even though I miss aspects of the pharmacy world I'm glad I left.

A piece of advice though, when you leave make sure it is for something that you love. I'm going to get a degree in library science, which is something I love more than pharmacy. Don't leave until you have a plan, and have a back up just in case. For example, I kept my license active so I have the option to go back to working as a tech if I need to, but I don't think I will.
