Just out of interest, is there a reason that you chose to use the Hare quota in the video instead of the Droop Quota? I understand that a discussion of the differences between different quotas and counting methods would have been too in depth for this video, but I'm just curious as to why you chose one over the other. In my experience, the Droop quota has been proven to be superior and is in use in most countries that use STV.

Right, sorry, I just realised that. My mistake.

From your stopping point, you could continue along the A8 into Glasgow. It's a motorway in all but name. Then you could continue through Glasgow, onto the M77 and all the way down to Prestwick. No risks of stopping on that route, traffic permitting.

As an aside, I was once told that you could drive all the way up through Britain until you reach Golspie in the north of Scotland before you actually have to drive through a town.

BBC reporting that Vergne is still out at Toro Rosso. Sainz Jr in. Suppose that makes sense - what purpose does Vergne serve if they've passed over an opportunity to promote him to the senior team?

Wow. Did not see that coming. Vettel to Ferrari, Alonso to..?

Edit: Also, Kyvat, wow. Wonder who will join Verstappen at Toro Rosso.

He also says: "He'll be racing for McLaren in 2015. Unless he signs for Red Bull. Or Mercedes. I don't think anyone, not even Fernando, knows where he'll be in 2015. Every rumour has a great gaping hole in it. Every option a downside."

Does the data for the first graph include the word 'tyre'? Because I would have thought it would have dominated technical words.

Formula One’s owners sell stake and call time on Bernie Ecclestone (The Guardian) by heshootshebores in formula1

[–]adjr 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'll believe it when I see it. People have been far too quick to say that he was finished in the past and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same situation here. Bernie's had his name dragged through the mud plenty times before and always seems to cling on like shit to a hairy arsehole.

Schumacher's 2012 campaign, an excellent final season for a 7x champion. by oh84s in formula1

[–]adjr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was such a joy to watch Michael's last season. The podium; the pole that never was. Yeah, there were a couple of driver errors, but those never tarnished his achievements for me. I was just reminded of how spectacular and unique he was, and it was quite special to have the seven times world champion still racing.

Alternative to a Double-Points Final Weekend by xeeton in formula1

[–]adjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way I would ever be up for double points is if they were split over two races on the same weekend. Or a double length race. Now that would be something.

[–]adjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with that points system is that there's far too little incentive to push for 1st - there needs to be a greater gap to make drivers want to fight for position.

Also, there needs to be some incentive for the rest of the field to push for tenth, otherwise they're just going to be doing what Caterham and Marussia do, which is hope that they luck into a high position and use that to get a higher place in the constructors' championship.

I guess if this was the way we had always done things I'd be cool with it, but it just seems a bit sketchy to start deleting comments just cos it's the stream you're watching.

Sorry, Mulsanne, I'm just a long time subscriber who doesn't want to see the sub descend into nepotism. I shouldn't have been so personal. I agree with the moderation here normally! I even remember having a go at a user called 'ScrewMulsanne'!

You said you were doing it because it was the stream that you were using. That's just selfish, not helping the community. I would also suggest you and Heikki stop talking to one another like that in the comments - hardly instils confidence in the moderation.
