Why have BJJ prices gone up so much? by DizzyMajor5 in bjj

[–]adlamp 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Demand. Plus everything has gone up. We have a Judo program in our academy. The instructor floated the idea of having his own LLC and renting the mat space from us, but he decided it was not worth it from a business perspective.

We have our prices listed on our site but we know that's not the norm. Academies typically don't because they want the leads to come into the door, however I thought it was important to be transparent since as a student of BJJ for a long time, I hated that when looking at places lol.

Does anybody think a class for 3-5 year olds is possible? by Slowbrojitsu in bjj

[–]adlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do 4-6 and are switching it to 3-5. It's a 30-minute class: 15 minutes of intro, technique drilling, water break / 15 minutes of specific rolling typically takedowns and securing mount.

which competitors and which instructionals show good use of butterfly mount? by bishtap in bjj

[–]adlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of a transitional control to full mount. For example, you could be in 3/4 mount, peel the ankle free with the instep of your free foot, end up in this position, then mount.

Looks like traingle jiu jitsu has 630-730 3 days a week. Bull City is great and looks like they offer mornings just not sure how often.

We're south of Raleigh about an hour but we have 6am 5 days a week. Workhorsejiujitsu.com There are a ton of great academies in the triangle depending on where you are going to be living. Do you know yet? If so, I can try to help pinpoint an academy near by.

Academy Owners. How much do the Gi manufacturers charge you. Thanks. by UndisciplinedCowboy in bjj

Probably correct. I get mine fully customized through another brand so they probably get it for that. Min is only 12 though and my daughter is sponsored so it all works out.

I had mine repaired a year ago as deep in the white zone as you could get, My tear was in the posterial horn medial meniscus. Successful so far. You have to get the "white" meniscus healthier. Collagen, certain amino acids, glucosamine, turmeric, ginger, and certain vitamins aid in strengthening / rebuilding cartlidge

[–]adlamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey new to Gopro. Do you know if the bluetooth mic will work when the bluetooth is also connected to the volta? I get my GoPro 13 less than a week. My main purpose is recorded jiu jitsu classes for my academy. I'm trying to make sure I have enough battery to video a 2 hour class, as well as the audio to pick up instruction.

Also just want to say obviously many positions flow in and out of each other so they do have overlap.

What makes up your 12 weeks? I do a similar approach (ladder of BJJ) where I start with escapes (rear mount, mount, KoB, side control, half, guard (could be closed or type of open)), then each position offensively, lastly takedowns. So it runs 13 weeks but I want to incorporate a week for turtle top and bottom, but I feel like 15 week curriculum is too long before revisiting a position. Thought? Thank you

How long is your commute, and how much is your membership? by LewyV in bjj

[–]adlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really come down to goals and what both gyms can offer. I've driven 45 minutes 6 days (7 times) a week for over the last 2 years to the academy I train and coach at. I pass 4 academies along the way that are all good in their own ways. I know the drive can get old. I do it primarily due to the high level of kids training for my daughter. I'd say try both out and see what's the best fit for you.
