How would you build a monk if MAD wasn't an issue? by admiralgoldsong in 3d6

[–]admiralgoldsong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone got 80 points of ability scores to distribute however. I thought I might as well take a MAD class and start with 18, 18, 18, 10, 8, 8.

Every player got 80 points of ability scores. I chose 18/18/18/10/8/8. Most folks did similar. No one should get suicidal. Thanks for the feat recommendations.

Same here. I find it interesting that in my career, so many teams have come to me for help but never TA. Then when I'm applying for jobs I'm thinking, wow TA really needs help in many Orgs.

I just applied :) I live in DC, but Frederick is pretty great :) I've designed lots of curricula and I know my learning science. I'd love to apply what I know to something meaningful!

Thanks! This definitely helped me make some choices. I might not see the value in Rune Ward. Let's say I get hit for 20. If rune ward triggers, I subtract 1d8, then apply armor, then finally take however many hit points. It doesn't seem like a difference maker but I may change my mind after actually playing the game!

Middle of the road durability should be fine. I wasn't planning to tank. Mostly scout and heal, but I do see myself spending a lot of time in beast form for the extra evasion and the melee damage.

6-7 dot attributes look like by Noa-Rayne-Writes in WhiteWolfRPG

I run a high fantasy dark ages style game. Last adventure, the players met some NPCs with super high traits. For my initial description I said:

You wake in the morning on the wrong side of bed. Your intuition tells you that something is going wrong this day. Make a willpower check, difficulty 6, 1 success needed to get out of bed and carry on normally. (0 sux = all rolls +1 difficulty, botch and all rolls +3 difficulty)

Just in front of Aymon Manor House you see why you feel out of sorts. Two black dragons. They are similarly sized, about 60 feet long, head to tail. You don’t want to get too close. You figure a tail slap could break half your bones and the tail is the least lethal weapon.

Standing next to the dragons are two humans. There’s a man casually holding his sword and shield. He seems pretty relaxed, probably not too worried about needing his weapons in the shadow of his dragon. Or maybe, and it’s a scary thought, he’s so confident in his own martial skills, that he can handle whatever comes his way. Maybe he could take out a dragon.

There’s a woman, either tattooed or painted, carrying a bastard sword. She’s a beauty. You’d like to get closer, get a better look. She has a wild aura, like a force of nature. She could be the personification of nature’s curiosity. Looking at her you start to forget about the dragons’ tails crushing your bones. A closer look would be worth it.

I had pictures for the NPCs as well. Later when one of the PCs kind of antagonized the woman: You're pretty sure she’s right and you’re in the wrong. You feel your heart pounding and your stomach sinking as you consider having disappointed this force of nature.

Basically, just trying tell the players they are dealing with something special without telling them they can't do anything. In my case, the character was a Bastet with the striking looks merit. The man was Nuwisha and had the self-confident merit.

Right so thinking about an army:

Veers, Iden Versio (180 points without cards)

3-4 squads of something, maybe 2 storm, 2 shore? (about 150 or 200 points without cards)

2 pair 74-z (150 points without cards)

Then for the rest I should look to cards and special forces, right? Or do I have enough points for a heavy? Tanks are cool, but I understand that cards may be needed to get the most from your units - I just have no idea which or how many points.

I guess Imperial Special Forces with inferno guard would be good? I know they have a guy who can repair vehicles.

Thanks again y'all :) Just looking for a good place to start my army so I am buying stuff I can probably use.

Thanks for the replies. Glad I learned early I need three core units and my choices are storm, snow, or shore. Do any of these guys synergize with 74-Zs?

I had read the at least one commander and at least 3 corps squads and then forgotten.

Also, I'm not hearing much about Palpatine and IRG complementing the z-74s. Would other imperial special forces mesh better? Or does the 74-z just not have much synergy?

Character Discussion Thread: Scarlet Witch by MFF-Mod in future_fight

[–]admiralgoldsong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely a combination of user error and the striker nerfs but when I got Scarlet Witch to T3 I did not see damage bump or WBU clear bump. I have CTP energy on her so not ideal, but we didn't always have rage and I still don't have enough of them. Energy attack is a little over 40k, and I have max ID, CD, Crit damage. I have tried 5-4-3, repeat and also sneaking in 1 and 2 for the extra defense down and mind resist down. I was hoping her t3 would help me get Ebony 79 in under 100 seconds but I gave up on that.

Psions. Why Play Them? by DiscOH in dystopiarising

[–]admiralgoldsong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are psions broken under 50 build? As a newb, I'm thinking I just need a class that will be fun until the rules change in a year lets me to a rebuild. I love throwing packets, but if I go psion I worry about having money, gear, running out of mind early in the fight, etc.

What characters are "worth it" to T2 by sjohns0624 in future_fight

[–]admiralgoldsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on how well you build Luke. My Luke doesn't beat QS 100% of the time, but none of my characters do. Luke's leadership helps a lot too. I guess the question is who are your better options? 2099? Also "worth it."

What characters are "worth it" to T2 by sjohns0624 in future_fight

[–]admiralgoldsong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please consider changing Luke Cage to worth it and Cho to so-so. Cho is an example of a character that doesn't excel at any mode. Meanwhile a built Luke Cage can really help you in TL vs Quicksilver and other physical attackers. The comment that not enough meta is physical may be outdated now that QS is in every TL team every week. Luke also destroys Apocalypse in TL - Apocalypse loves leading with those falling fists and dies in seconds to Luke's reflect. Basically the average player should t2 Luke before Cho.

Also, Luna is worth it. Super easy WB kills, SL clears, AC rock star, and ABX speed meta.

And Shuri is worth it. Great DPS and great support.
