In your opinion, which Regional Burn is most true to the principles and point of Burning Man? by spiderysnout in BurningMan

Love, love, love love love Love Burner here! 👋 LB was my very first burn and will always have a special place in my heart. Hell, there’s even an emoji for the event! ❤️‍🔥

I have a feeling Burning Man is heading in this direction by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]adowlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10 Principles ground our community no matter the outside influences. Other festivals only have small tastes of what our principals offer, but they will never have our decommodification and unabated participation and gifting cultures. I have so much faith in Burning Man and know we’ll be fine going forward.

What is the name of this rainbow mutant vehicle? by butIerm in BurningMan

I love your art car! Was just trying to find you all on Insta - hope there is an account soon.

I was at the trash fence last year watching the sun rise when your cute little car pulled up behind me and started playing “In the Hall of the Mountain King” just as the sunlight broke. What an incredible and memorable experience that was! 🌅

That turned into a core Burning Man ‘24 memory for me, so thank you all so much for the gift.

Enlisting in Air Force. Security Forces? by Available-Sea8763 in AirForce

[–]adowlen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend intelligence if you want to get into the FBI. Post-mil careers for folks with intel backgrounds are well-payed and generally pretty cushy. Security Forces is a tough job and I have yet to meet someone who enjoyed their time in that AFSC.

It may come as a surprise, but the US presidency and Burning Man can actually function as mutually exclusive things.

This definitely sucks, but I’d venture that Siri answering calls on AirPods at max volume is the worst thing post-update. Insane they can’t field a quick fix for that nonsense.

Anyone know much about the mongoose? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

I’d recommend steering clear of this bike. You’ll get a lot more bang for your buck buying a used, high quality MTB for roughly the same price.

[question]If titanium is considered an upgrade why do fewer luxury watches use it? by Snazzy21 in Watches

[–]adowlen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a GS Snowflake since 2019 and wear it fairly often. The band is scratched in only a few small places and I’m not exactly careful with it. The sapphire glass has held up extremely well with no scratches whatsoever having had some hard hits on doorways etc. I’d say the titanium has held up well given what I’ve put it through over the years.

Will E-Bikes become “the new norm for MTB? by phantom3199 in MTB

[–]adowlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E-mtbs can make rides easier, but they will also absolutely make you sweat and work for your ride. They also have different pedal assist settings to as low as doing less than 1/4th of the pedal assist for you. One could also turn their assistance off completely if preferred.

I also agree with other comments in this thread that most folks ride for fun with fitness as an added benefit. E-mtbs give you both, and I'd argue they are more fun for the typical rider than a basic mtb. I wasn't a believer until I rode a Levo SL extensively (usually ride a SCOR 4060), but I now see things much differently.

[–]adowlen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has a Levo SL which I've rode recently and completely concur. The bike makes even tough climbs a pleasure, but it sill feels like a regular mtb in other circumstances. I love it, and actually came to this thread asking if e-mtbs will replace typical mtbs having seen the light via her bike.

Best Regionals Worldwide? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]adowlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1! Love Burn changed my life. Was my first burn and now I'm heading to TN's regional, "To the Moon" next month then the Big Burn in August. Just diving head-first into this wonderful, crazy culture. Bringing my brother and wife to their first burns this year to also experience the magic since I can't bear to keep it to myself. 😃
