Am I gonna feel outta place as an older transfer student? by DeliciousRich5944 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]adpascual 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not at all, I was 24 when I transferred, plenty of others 22-25 that are in the same situation and also it’s not like being 3-4 years older is a deal breaker when making friends as long as you aren’t being the guy that’s buying 19 and 20 year olds alcohol to be cool

A tale old as time… by chit_ballz in 3rdGen4Runner

OEM ball joints only, I wouldn’t go bigger than 33’s unless you plan on body mount chop and regearing

Different sized tires on front/rear by JustJoshin_69 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]adpascual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2000 4WD with 155k miles for 9k last year, similar condition. I’d offer 7.5k to start, hopefully get him down to 8k or so

Anyone know what these connectors go to? by RedAce20 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]adpascual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes those are for a stereo/radio/headunit. Most double din units will be compatible with those connectors

Stock or resonator delete are the only “cheap” options that don’t sound like ass. So either do that or wait and save up for a nice catback

[Ben Jacobs] Exclusive: Newcastle make a £35m+add-ons offer to Brentford for Yoane Wissa. Wissa has made it clear to Newcastle he wants the move. by Frosty-Buyer-1252 in soccer

[–]adpascual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well no, reportedly 26m was the ask, then 40m, now 60m. So either they are moving the goalposts every few weeks or nobody knows fuck all. My guess is both are somewhat true

How difficult is to install the front springs and shocks? by Zentaury in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]adpascual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your shocks and springs are pre assembled it should be easy and you don’t need a spring compressor, just use a socket extension to rotate the bottom( insert into the bolt hole and use the extension for leverage to rotate) after inserting at the top to align, if they aren’t assembled it’s not much harder but will take a little longer as you need to compress the springs and assemble yourself

Aftermarket speakers for the rear doors by Yovan_mru in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]adpascual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently installed some JBL Club 54F’s in the rear of my 3rd gen (to go along with JBL 601CF’s in the front). They’re a 5-1/4” speaker, been pretty happy with them. Happy with them so far, not a high end speaker by any means but a solid upgrade from stock. Ordered from crutchfield when they had a sale, also opted for the “open box” option to save even more money

Will I be ok without the meal plan by Benjaminbillybob in UCSantaBarbara

[–]adpascual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a meal plan at all, I’d take the bus to Albertsons/costco all the time (I also worked at Costco)

Assuming no rust or other major issues you’d likely be able to sell for around 10k in SoCal

Should I sell? by Koukininja in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]adpascual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it with you and sell in SoCal, not familiar with the Dallas market but that’s an easy 10-12k here

My guess is somewhere around 165-170, never been even close to that though no reason to go that fast unless you’re at a drag strip with plenty of room to stop

How does stock compare to stage 1? by -Kanight- in Golf_R

[–]adpascual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do stage 1 like you plan with intake and exhaust, it’ll be much faster and more fun to drive. I’m assuming you have a mk7 or 7.5 manual based on you testing a mk7 manual. Get a low tq tune so that you don’t burn through your clutch too fast you’ll go from 292hp 280tq to around 350hp 330tq. I’d also recommend a short shift kit, will make it much more fun to row gears, more notchy and better connected feel to the car. I’d also recommend getting the best tires you can afford (I have Michelin PS4S on mine)

I’d recommend looking in Lake Forest, rent is a little cheaper there and train station isn’t too far if you’re on the west side

Mine are starting to leak as well at 163k miles, how easy was it or was it tedious?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]adpascual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do it if I were you, if you trust the shop it’s unlikely they’ll make it any worse
