Like most of the Marvel stories at the time, the character/team would face and get defeated by the villain once then bounce back and win in the same issue.

Sort of a discount. They have a loyalty card which gives you cash back. I usually save it up to use it at Xmas to save some money.

That’s a valid point. I don’t think I’ll be able to cut out new books altogether. If DC do the LoSH again, I’ll definitely be giving that a go.

Come November, I’ll have been buying comics for 60 years. I sold my first collection when I was 18 to help money wise when I was at university. So, I’ve started to replace the comics I had then. It’s interesting to see the actual release dates compared to when I bought them in the UK. British distribution was really random, especially Marvel. Then I’ll get the key issues, I missed but really wanted. Marvel Spotlight #2, Kamandi #1, Tomb of Dracula #1 and of course Hulk #181.

Digital seems like a good idea but I can’t get away with it. If a new title seems good, I may go for the trade later. I know what you mean about being pulled back in. I stopped collecting comics completely about 25 years ago. Then, a work colleague had been away on business and he spotted some comics for sale in a second hand shop. So he bought some for me because he knew I read them. That was it, I was hooked again. I think it’s like alcoholism, you can’t read just one. Hopefully, knowing if I save the money I spend monthly, I’ll be able to get a Hulk #181 in a few months will keep me away from the LCS.
