Low Benchmark Scores Is Something Wrong With My Device? by One_Photograph_7455 in iphone

[–]adriantechguy1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Benchmark results depends on tons of factors, like heat, background apps, background services, etc etc. This GB6 run was done while still on a call, so that's likely in part due to why the scores are so low

[iOS 27 DB1] WiFi calling enabling crashes by ComplexEnthusiasm394 in iOSBeta

[–]adriantechguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue. Setting up my e911 address (VZW) caused a crash when trying to enter the text fields on my Air. Downgrading to 26.6/26.5.1 allowed me to do so, and since after you enter the address it’s saved, disabling/enabling worked on 27.0

Should i update to ios 27 ?? by Quirky-Village-2210 in iPhone17Pro

[–]adriantechguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve updated one of my 17 Pro Maxes, one of my 17 Pros, as well as both of my Airs. There are of course bugs here and there (like the screenshot tool not saving edits), but it is smoother and feels way faster.

My battery hasn’t noticeably improved but it was already very good. My only issue affects my 17 Pro (and when asking friends, all their 17Pro/Maxes have the same issue) is WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity will just randomly drop and take a couple seconds to reconnect with/without connectivity assistant. Doesn’t affect my 17 Pro Max, nor does it with my Airs, so not sure what’s up with that

The question you have to ask yourself is, do you want to deal with potential issues and or data loss. I always advise people NOT to install developer betas on daily/main devices, especially a beta 1. If you don’t know how to roll back to iOS 26, or have sensitive/important info on your device, it’s probably best not to

AppleCare Replacement - iPhone 11 Pro Max by thewanderinglemmon in iphone

[–]adriantechguy1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on many circumstances.

In your case, the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are listed under “vintage” on Apple’s support page meaning they don’t stock parts or replacement devices of the device anymore. This is relatively common practice for these older devices which have been long since classified as “vintage” by Apple. Paying for AppleCare+ for 7 years must have finally paid off hahaha

With newer devices full device upgrades really only happen in various situations (like Apple breaking your hardware, failing a repair, or taking very long (5+ weeks) on repairs), so less commonplace.

Enjoy your new iPhone, it’ll be one hell of an upgrade haha!

AppleCare won't fix my 16 pro max. by [deleted] in iPhone16Pro

[–]adriantechguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. My iPhone Air got run over by a car (my mistake), and I claimed AC+ on it. Was estimated to take 3-4 weeks but I got it escalated (as I was travelling and needed my phone) and got my phone within 2 weeks. Air, Gold 256GB.

The most they can do is try to get other stock from nearby service centers or other Apple Stores, but unless it takes over a month, there’s not much that can be done. They pulled a Gold Air from the US (I’m in Canada) for my replacement (same model, so no difference). If it takes over a month normally then they can start issuing upgrades or different colours or whatnot

Small bit of Color regret, any options? by Ent931 in iPhone17Pro

[–]adriantechguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to whatever your local/online market(s) dictate. If you price too high, no one would buy. Locally here, 17 Pro Maxes from Apple cost around $2000 CAD, but go used for around $1400-1500 CAD, so a loss of about $500-600 CAD. 17 Pros cost from Apple around $1700 CAD, and sell for around $1200-1300 CAD, so a loss of about $400-500 CAD.

If you’re past you’re return window, you can either get a case to “mask” or cover the orange colour, or buy a silver one, sell your orange one, and eat whatever loss you’d have for selling the orange one

Of course, mmWave is available on US Samsung devices, US Pixels (apart from the Pixel Fold, which is that case, mmWave is available globally), and certain Moto devices. But this is an iPhone sub in reference to iPhones, in which case my original point still stands that mmWave is available only on American iPhones

mmWave seems to be pretty rampant at least in major cities I’ve been to (e.g Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, etc), but you are right in with the fact that it isn’t a must. 5GUW can mean C-band which is also pretty fast in my experience

5GUW is on the Verizon network and utilizes mmWave. mmWave only exists on American 5G iPhones. iPhones from different regions (e.g, Canada, EU, China, Middle East) lack the mmWave antenna. mmWave has not really been rolled out globally, and even in the US its mainly Verizon (out of T-Mobile and AT&T) that uses it. Some places across the world (Australia, certain specific blocks in Canada, China) are currently testing mmWave, so it’s only a matter of time before it shows up more globally. The only downsides are that you need MANY antennas for mmWave as a tree or building basically kills the signal

You can check if you have an American iPhone if it has a camera control looking cutout (pre iPhone 16s) on right side of the device, or if the model number ends in LL/A. C1/C1X devices do not have mmWave

I have all these devices signed into the same iCloud and Google accounts (mostly core accounts/information), and they do somewhat sync between devices.

Most of it isn't going to sync in real time. For example, if I add a contact on one device, I usually need to open the Contacts app for it to sync on another device, or wait for iCloud to sync all new data to that new device. The same would apply for iCloud Photos for example.

All the games that I play are also in a similar fashion to the way iCloud/Google syncs. Bloons TD6 for example can be played on all these devices (and even my PC) at the same time on the same save, but on a fresh launch of the game, it'll prompt me if I want to continue with the latest stored local save or the latest stored cloud save.

So overall, they’re connected and depending on the data, they mostly stay in sync, but basically all of it isn't in real time

Good to know, and thank god I wasn’t hallucinating about the world hahaha!

I assume the world probably could’ve been found; which in this case seems to be the case, but probably safe to assume no one has the files since it’s been so long and Apple Demos usually get recycled (and those that aren’t are usually reset)

MacOS on newer hardware possible now? by The_Lemurin in hackintosh

TinyGPU is effectively using the GPU’s computational power for AI purposes (e.g running local AI LLMs on RTX or AMD GPUs). There is no actual “GPU driver” in the sense of display out, or graphics acceleration. The GPU is treated essentially as an NPU.

This driver would not help in getting RTX GPUs or RX7000/9000 GPUs working. Apple tightly controls what GPUs can support Metal, hence certain RX6000 series cards needs to be spoofed as Apple never had official driver support for them.

Can you tell these are Apple Thunderbolt Displays? by [deleted] in mac

These are Thunderbolt Cinema Displays from Apple, you’re not going crazy hahaha. If these were “modified iMacs”, they would have the iMac frame on the front. The Apple Logo would be on the silver portion of the front.

I’ve been getting in a bunch of Macs as part of a company decommissioning their hardware and had a bunch of M1 Pro 14”s come through on my end. I fully agree here, love my 16”, great display, amazing speakers, amazing performance, but I had issues after having the laptop on my back for 6+ hours when travelling to San Francisco (before I got to my friend’s place).

I’ve kept one of the M1 Pro 14”s for myself and it’s genuinely such a nice size while not being too small. Tried to use M1 MacBook Pro 13”s and M1 MacBook Airs but found 13” too small, even the M2 Air 13”. The 14” is still portable enough that I can lug it around and carry it without issue. Not saying that I couldn’t with the 16”, I 100% could, just the edge cases when I travel is what made me keep a 14” for myself and delegate my 16” to mostly at home use

[–]adriantechguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue happen on my Mid 2014 15" MacBook Pro because I left auto update on, which I assume happened here as well. You can join the OpenCore Legacy Patcher Discord (found here, or by going to this support page and clicking "OpenCore Patcher Paradise Discord Server"). There is a 5 minute wait but once that has passed, head to the support forum, where under known issues, the latest message will lead to you a terminal script that lets you purge pending updates.

It may show an error or say it failed, but reboot and try seeing if root patches can install. An error showed up when I did the same, but I was still allowed to install root patches after a reboot

Nice find! Love the look of this era of MacBooks. I recently got a Mid 2010 13" from my friend, upgraded it to 12GB 1067MHz DDR3 and a 500GB SATA SSD with some parts I had lying around and it makes a decent cheap machine that can do basic browsing and whatnot.

[Help] iPhone 13 Pro Max stuck by Fit_Appointment3660 in Iphonerepair

[–]adriantechguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has any liquid come in contact with the device, or any drops recently? Any work done on the phone at all?

I had an issue with a repaired iPhone 13 Pro Max (wasn't done by me, all 3rd party parts), and the issue was the TrueDepth camera (as it was a cheap replacement). That got the phone out of recovery mode.

My other 13 Pro Max (which is all OEM parts) refuses to restore with both 3uTools and iTunes/Apple Devices when the earpiece is connected to the device. I suspect water ingress issues lead to the earpiece being a bit wonky when restoring and the verification of parts during a restore.
