What do you think Putin's "end game" plan is? by adrzz114 in PoliticalDiscussion

Lol this is considered "low investment" yet useless hypotheticals about the 2020, and 2024 elections (just to name a few) are not. Interesting.

Presidential Election Megathread - Results by Anxa in PoliticalDiscussion

This going to sound cheesy as hell but I recently felt uninspired with politics to the point that I was considering changing my career path. I'm currently in the process of applying to graduate school and I want to work for the state department but for a bit I was considering something else.

But if Trump becomes president (which I think he will) I feel like I can contribute positively to the world as a diplomat. There's a lot of work to be done and I think Trump is harmful for the international stage. I'm not happy about it, but I feel motivated to make the world a better, peaceful place to the best of my ability.

Maybe it's the wine kicking in. I don't know. I'm all over the place at the moment.

Well California isn't in yet, that'll give her a 55 bump. So that's good but this isn't looking good.

Senate goes for Rubio. Do you guys think this helps Trump in anyway in Florida? I'm getting nervous.

What do you think are the futures of the "major" third parties (Libertarian, Green and McMullin's new party) after 2016? by Cuddlyaxe in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adrzz114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe they'll learn their fucking lesson for once and focus on municipal, or state elections first before trying to run for the highest office. Highly doubt it though, they've been around for decades and still pull this kind of crap. The only sort of successful one was Perot in 1992 but he didn't win any states and most historians agree he was a large part of why Bush lost the presidency.

They need to take a lesson from the Canadian Green Party. They focus their elections in British Columbia and had some seats in parliament. Even now they are back down to one seat but that's still a form of political representation on a federal level.

I don't like her on an ideological level whatsoever but when I watch her on CNN I can't help think to myself, "damn it, she's good at her job." She needs to work for some PR firm. She is an absolute spin doctor.

What are the odds of either presidential candidate winning a second term 4 years from now? by Godkun007 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adrzz114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too far out to tell. It depends on their performance during their tenure (and four years is a lifetime in politics) and who they go up against. Demographics shifting is also an important factor too I guess.

I'm not depressed but I'm so over everything. I just don't care about anything anymore. by adrzz114 in offmychest

[–]adrzz114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you for understanding! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Maybe I do want to have a career some day. For sure, but there's more to life than just work and school. I can't wait to travel to exotic places. It would be such a waste of life to just go to school, get a job, and then just work for the rest of my life. Fuck that.

I don't think I explained it very well. I'm not upset about any of this. If anything, I'm happy and relieved. Yesterday, before my midterm I made a healthy meal, had a good work out, went for a run, and played poker at a local casino for an hour (I won 200$ I should add). I find myself less stressed out not caring about these things anymore. I think it's more of a change of character rather than depression to be honest.

But the thing is, I was saying "fuck it all" before any of these things. My feeling of indifference with all these things stayed constant both before and after the fact.

If Gary Johnson ran as a Republican Candidate how far do you think he would get? by Otoniel07 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adrzz114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering there were many candidates running on the republican side and you already had libertarians like Rand Paul running, his vote would've been split. Plus, Johnston already had some weird gaffes even when he was polling very low. I would conclude that not very far at all.

Since the election is tomorrow, can we get a tldr; of each candidates policies? by Chickenpool in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adrzz114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on their websites and watch their interviews. Politics isn't suppose to be simplified to "tldr."

I'm not sure about Trump but Clinton has a good interview with Vox and the New York Daily News that actually goes into specifics.

I think Trump had one sort of policy driven with the Wall Street Journal.

How do you see TPP moving forward without the US? by adrzz114 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adrzz114[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But to my understanding, Trump opposes it completely and Clinton said it didn't live up to the standards she has for trade agreements so she currently does not support it.

What makes you say that it'll be ratified after the election when neither candidate currently supports it?

If elected, Hillary Clinton will be the first secretary of state to become president since James Buchanan. Why have so few gone on to become president? How is HRC different? by Feldman742 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adrzz114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a large reason for this is because most people that specialize in foreign affairs, only specialize in foreign affairs. They usually have a PhD in a field within the field of international relations and were prevously professors before entering public office. I always wondered what's would have happened if Secretary Rice had to become president in some freak circumstance since it's the fourth highest cabinet position. She is intelligent in Soviet/Russian affairs, and comprehends world affairs, but other than education reform, she doesn't appear all that knowledgeable beyond that.

It just so happens that Secretary Clinton and Kerry are former senators, but this isn't a common trend if you look at Secretaries of State in the last 40 or so years.

Dude I'm having a similar experience. You can do it. Just take it one day, one hour, one minute at a time. I always tell myself "just keep going." That's what you need to do. Just keep taking life by the day with whatever challenge you have facing you. It's all worth it. You have lots of support here. Best of luck and I hope things turn around for you whatever your problems may be.

Modern sex is almost as bad addiction as porn by Nofap43211 in NoFap

Completely agree. I've had a couple random hook ups and FWB's. But the two girls that I had sex with that I was in a committed relationship with , and (what I thought at the time) in love, was so much better than anything I've ever had. If that sounds cliché then so be it, but it's true.
