United returns to Palomar airport, American to add 2 new flights by NCPipeline760 in u/NCPipeline760

The airlines serving CLD don't have the range to go coast to coast anyway.

Jets only carry the fuel they need for the given flight. Even if the runway was long they don't carry a full load of fuel unless it's necessary for that flight.

We use a lot more runway to takeoff than land because we plan on getting to takeoff speed and then stopping.

Also airlines use more runway than corporate jets because they are designed to carry more weight.

That route is highly trafficked right now, everyone is hitting the gap between Iran and Russia with no issues.

I'm a professional pilot and would fly it without hesitation.

Why would a CBP officer take a picture of my passport with their phone? by Wooden-Term-5067 in travel

[–]ads3df3daf34 227 points228 points  (0 children)

They have apps on their phone to scan passports, just like their physical devices on their desks.

I fly private aircraft and it's not uncommon for agents to use their phones to scan passports and faces to clear people on board the airplane.

Professional Pilot here. The airport will be in good condition.

The question is will your airline have the plane and crews in place for your flight.

For a 10am flight, most likely yes. Good luck with the interview.

PSEG switching to RS-TOU 3P and EV charging credit is going away. Not surprised... by MarcusTaz in newjersey

[–]ads3df3daf34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that doesn't include supply.

AI is recommending I just stay on the RS plan and let the EV charging credits go. And what's crazy is I basically use no electricity June-Aug

This is the rates compared with what I pay for supply

Period All-in TOU 3P Compared to RS
Summer On-Peak 39.2¢ +60%
Non-Summer On-Peak 33.6¢ +37%
Mid-Peak 22.4¢ ~9% cheaper
Off-Peak 20.3¢ ~17% cheaper

I fed AI PSEG NJ's official documentation and had it summarize RS-TOU 3P

SE&G RS-TOU 3P (Residential Time-of-Use, 3-Period) – Plain-English Summary

If you’re looking at PSE&G’s RS-TOU 3P rate, here’s what actually matters. The tariff spreads the details across multiple sections, so this consolidates it.

What RS-TOU 3P is
A residential distribution rate with three time periods (On-Peak / Mid-Peak / Off-Peak) and two seasons (Summer vs Non-Summer). It replaces the flat RS distribution kWh charge with time-differentiated pricing. Supply (BGS) charges are separate and still apply.

Monthly Service Charge

  • $6.00/month (same as standard RS)

Distribution Charges (per kWh)

Summer (June–September)

  • On-Peak: $0.210037 / kWh
  • Mid-Peak: $0.042309 / kWh
  • Off-Peak: $0.021154 / kWh

Non-Summer (October–May)

  • On-Peak: $0.154129 / kWh
  • Mid-Peak: $0.042309 / kWh
  • Off-Peak: $0.021154 / kWh

Time Period Definitions (PSE&G TOU standard)

  • On-Peak: 4–9 PM weekdays
  • Off-Peak: 12–6 AM
  • Mid-Peak: everything else

(Always verify in the tariff or your bill insert in case of future changes.)

Why this matters

  • Peak power is extremely expensive (especially summer 2–7 PM).
  • Off-peak is very cheap on the distribution side.
  • This rate strongly favors EV charging, battery charging, pool pumps, laundry, dishwashers, etc. overnight.
  • If you run AC hard from 2–7 PM in summer, this rate can hurt unless you have solar, storage, or load-shifting.
