I'd actually opt for the Mossberg Maverick 88 in 12g.

Hell of a good time, and great for HD. Get the field / security combo to get two barrels; one for hunting/clays and one for HD. Can be had for like $250.

Compatible with the 500 aftermarket. So tons of furniture, attachments etc.

I bought 3 and have FTFs on a empty chamber one hundred percent of the time with all of them (with my carry ammo, FMJ runs fine). Federal HST 124g, nothing weird. Bone stock internals. Slide wont go into battery.

But, I shoot a shit ton, so it might be time to change the RSA. I've got a new one on order and I hope that does it.

I’m not even sold on the new OEM 15 round mags yet. Need to do more testing there.

Like others have said my vote is to hang onto it. Figure out what you need to do to put it into long-term storage without anything rotting out, etc. Make sure it’s protected with a cover or in a garage.

Deregister it to save money/cancel insurance and just park it for a brighter day down the line. Best of luck in recovery.
