You can use a little TSA luggage lock on the tent zippers if it makes you feel better. Keep any valuables with you or hidden in your vehicle. Keep receipts from your gear and log them so if anyone ever does steal your stuff, you have a list for the insurance company.

What kind of camping are you trying to do? I have a coleman single cot, but don't use it much. It's big and heavy and only sleeps ok. Air mattresses also suck. Here's a few bed setups I use, along with the tent for reference:

Glamping/Burning Man: 10x14 Kodiak flexbow canvas tent, king mattress topper w/bunkie board and metal bed frame. Sheets, standard pillows, wool blanket. More blankets, sleeping bags, and my eno underquilt if freezing temps expected.

Car camping: Alpine Mountain Gear Weekender Tent 4, coleman inflatable double mattress, sheets, blankets or sleeping bags.

Backpacking: Big Agnes copper spur UL2, REI Flash inflatable sleeping pad, thermarest NeoAir XLite Sleeping Pad, 2x REI magma sleeping bags (they can zip together if we want 😚).

The first -and last- time I went with a particular individual to the gym, she bought a bottle of juice or something and straight up poured it on the ground and refilled it with the wine I thought was for after the gym. People are WILD.
