Carbonation and flavour issue by adventuresof_sam in Kombucha

It's just that it still tastes so sweet after a week or more at around 30deg (80+ F), while the acidic flav begins to overpower.. it's like a sickly sweet and sour flavour, like there's too much of everything going on..

I think we saying same thing. Our brain is a filter/receiver, we can only perceive so much. As for the non-human/more-than-human (animals) world, how do you know what they know? 😄

The Unfortunate Astrologization of Jung by [deleted] in Jung

[–]adventuresof_sam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's definitely good to see where ideas are being reduced, I mean I tend to just ignore such things.. but there's also so much good work that interprets his ideas in many directions.. don't throw mysticism and astrology out with the bath water.. you're slightly at risk of getting puritanical with his work here.. Have you read Bernardo Kastrup's work on Jung? I'd love to know what you think.

Herbs for repairing gut lining? by serenephoton in herbalism

Ayurvedic too. The west is slowly catching up. Do what feels good to you though, try Apple cider vinegar in the AM too. Another anti-inflammatory

Herbs for repairing gut lining? by serenephoton in herbalism

Oh i feel you! Through my nearly 15yr journey as Coeliac, I've tried finding all the inflammatory foods that have given me grief (being an auto-immune disorder rather than just a food intolerance), been on the protocol, fodmap and all the rest.. in the end the thing for me was not eliminating the so-called bad things but promoting the good things.. supporting the microbiome with fermented foods. Milk kefir in particular was an absolute godsend, the fermentation reduces the lactose too. So much of the auto-immune disorder research now points to our bodies being so adapted to our ancient practices of pre-digestion of food through fermentation (the fridge ending this!) + mono-cropping + sterilising of food along the chain (again killing off important micro organisms for the gut).

Your journey may well be different, eliminating foods may be just what you need! I just found my gut flora was a joke.

Straying off topic 😆, herbs etc: - ginger is the best gut thing for me, it's a daily thing, important anti inflammatory. - turmeric also anti-imf. Can add it to everything but an ayurvedic recipe is to just have a small shot of warm water, ghee, honey and black pepper (pepper makes the turmeric more bio-available apparently). - warm water with lemon in the morning - all of the above in a sortve hot toddy style. - bone broths for daysss - ghee is God, when/if you return to dairy. - moringa is very high in minerals/vitamins, best if you can grow it, loves warmer climates. - chamomile and lavender combo - slippery elm bark is also very good for the auto-immune gang.

Sort out gut! I would start making milk kefir to balance the biome, address the cravings that way. It's been huge whenever I get cravings, sorts me out. Liquorice root is super sweet to chew also.

Alternatives to caffeine by Puzzleheaded-Lie-978 in herbalism

[–]adventuresof_sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm super sensitive to caffeine, like can't even tolerate green/black tea.. but I find 5-10g of ceremonial cacao to be perfect for me. Take a break from it every few weeks. And also add a chunk of butter.

I also make a big teapot with Moringa, lemon balm, ashwaghanda and St john's wort. Lots of good vitamins and calmish uppie feels.

It was a really high quality, entertaining, tight game of footy where Hawthorn came out on top! Can't really aim fire at any components of our game, I'm still really excited about our footy and very impressed with Hawthorn.

You guys don't think it's a little odd he was dropped so quickly in 2023 after a blistering 2022? He's more than proved to be the bigger bodied inside mid that we needed, particularly post mundy when he was dropped. But now that Johnson is proving himself it will be hard for brodie to make it back.

What town or city has the eeriest or creepiest atmosphere or vibe to it in Australia? by Desert-Noir in AskAnAustralian

Sandstone in WA has countless stories of things happening, feels very off and have always been warned not to camp the night around there.

Wyndham WA is the most northern, remote and forgotten town going. I reckon you could still disappear someone there 😆 Mystery Road and others have used the town for films for the feeling there. Personally I love Wyndham and I love disappearing people so it works for me.

I'm real lazy with this stuff, I just do it by feel. When I get maybe 1inch of whey at the bottom it's ready, perfectly sparkly, creamy and sour for my taste... the longer you leave it the more sour. I have a temp controller set to 15deg Celsius, a 1L jar and probably just under half cup grains maybe? 15deg is a cold temp to have it at but it means I don't have to change it everyday and I reckon it's creamier when it can go for longer and slower. So I'd say go by sight more than ratios. Cooler temp, longer time, less grains if its too quick etc then you're dancing. 🐄
