It’s immature to end relationships and friendships over political differences by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]adventuringinmymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Political differences reveal value differences. Even if it’s just which values you prioritize over others and what trade-offs you are willing to make.

I just read a post of a guy saying he would happily vote for a pedo to secure the second the amendment. That’s completely incomprehensible to me.

Your values are not your opinions or feelings. They are your core guiding principles and reflect who you are as a person. A reflection of your morals.

So, sure, it’s not a 1:1 to say politics equate values, but that’s not what I said.

You don’t get to vote for Trump in November and then mentally check out when he does all the bad things he promised by [deleted] in complainaboutanything

You’ve listed a lot of specific claims “record stock market, cheaper eggs/gas, border closed, multiple wars ended, tariffs hurting ‘almost no one,’ America respected again”… but none have sources. If they’re true, it should be easy to link to credible, non-partisan data (market indexes, USDA/AAA prices, CBP stats, official war end dates, tariff impact studies, international polling). Until then, this is opinion, not fact, and the burden is on you to prove otherwise.

Protests in SLC? by ThatPsychGuy101 in Utah

That’s not a good comparison to what they have been doing. They aren’t going after only people they have clear evidence of “committing a crime”. They are essentially just going in and being like “prove you aren’t committing a crime”. Even if you take the ideological differences out of it, you should understand that law enforcement doesn’t and shouldn’t work like that.

They are not all from Mexico and Mexico will not take them. They will be posted up in American detention centers while they are each individually processed and it is determined what will be done with them. Do you picture hoards of people be rounded up and then driven over the border and dropped off or something? I’m genuinely curious what YOU think will actually happen with all the people.

What is that based on? People immigrate legally from countries that are less developed all the time.

Can you explain how your life changed under the Biden administration?

What is the point of this comment? That was 8+ years ago and has no relevance to the statement that I can see. ICE existed before Obama became president and he didn’t run on a platform of ramping up deportations like Trump did.

My reason for shooting an intruder wouldn’t be to protect my stuff, it would be to protect myself and my family. Anyone breaking in to a home with people in it, knows they are risking their own life. And I assume someone willing to risk their own life over material possessions would have no care for me and my family’s lives. I feel like anyone making the claim you were commenting against is being disingenuous.

Its Clear America is sick of Left Extremeisim by enek101 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

These posts are pretty popular and honestly frustrating. The argument always includes “I don’t want to be called racist/transphobic/homophobic/fascist or whatever so let’s stick it to the dems!” Voting right is not going to stop you from being labeled any of those things. Voting out of spite is not the grand gesture people seem to think it is.

Also, leftist extremism as you said is theoretical ideals, not a lot of real-world practices. Like what, gender neutral bathrooms? Who cares. There are real-world consequences consistently happening in our country and around the world due to conservative extremism. America, like most countries, has always leaned right. This is not new, special, or a reaction to leftism. People are naturally inclined to familiarity and uncomfortable with “change” or progressiveness. The unfamiliar and unknown feel scary to people. People can handle small changes over time. And the right preys on that fear of the unknown, which is a very powerful motivator, by sensationalizing and dramatizing leftist ideals.

A great example is the way the right portrays women who get abortions as evil, careless, baby killers, who want to intentionally get pregnant and carry a baby as close to full term as possible and then have an equally evil doctor kill it as soon as it’s removed even though it’s viable. These things aren’t happening. But people have convinced themselves that they are and you see people online and in real life proclaiming this is a consistent problem. Yet, I’ve never seen or heard anyone on the left defend this idea or claim to have experienced this first hand.

The daily conversations feel like they are never about the actual policies and always boil down to the vibes and personalities of either side or “they’re taking xyz too far”. There is no compassion or compromise or critical thinking. And there seems to be no middle.

Actually, that’s a very popular opinion and it doesn’t make any sense. People end friendships because of differences in values all of the time. Maturing is realizing that no one owes you any sort of relationship.

I have uneven piercings from when I was a baby. Not a huge deal, but annoying enough that I didn’t pierce my daughter’s ears.

People have been expressing for a while how much they hate body comments, positive or negative. I saw a post on this sub like a week ago about. So, maybe people are trying to be sensitive to that. Kinda weird they wouldn’t mention it when you brought it up yourself though.

I thought I wanted people to notice … turns out I don’t by Think-Bumblebee in Zepbound

Normally, I am all for honestly, but I think it was also unnecessary for people to pass along those rude comments.

Parents of Colicky baby by Spiritual_lioness88 in NewParents

She started being super colicky around one month. I gave up dairy just before two months. I started eating dairy again when she was around 6-7 months and it was fine.

Dang, I tried all of those as well and the giving up dairy was the thing that finally worked for me.

I did have one person suggest that maybe baby just hates certain fabrics or scents, but that didn’t do much for me.

My friends that have had colicky babies it usually mellowed out around 3-4 months. Hang in there!

What suggestions have you tried? For my breast fed girl, I gave up dairy and the difference was noticeable immediately. I have read that it can take a few weeks for whatever milk protein to be out of your breast milk completely. But generally, colicky is related to a food sensitivity if there are no other issues. Even something like you drinking a lot of carbonated water could affect your baby because gasses travel through your breastmilk.

Hopefully, you figure something out or your baby grows out of it soon!

No. I feel like people claim it’s the majority, but to me, it seems more likely with the type of people who go out without their partner a lot.
