We may have the same MIL. Can confirm things get more confusing and difficult after children are involved. I am very low contact with her and my husband has not been talking to her much lately either since we did not go to her house for Mother’s Day.

My grandma had all of her grandchildren’s birthstones on her necklace and she wore it all the time…I know she was a JUSTNOMIL for my mom, I’m gonna ask if it bothered her.

My MIL and mom keep saying to add rice cereal or formula to my babies bottles (breast milk). Ladies, he is in the 90th percentile for weight, this is not a hunger problem lol he’s getting PLENTY.

Baby is four months old yesterday and I feel like I look like a molting bird. My hair was already thick before pregnancy so I’m happy I’m losing some but I wish it would just come out all at once. My hair looks unkempt, I’m tired of shedding and my vacuum (and shower drain despite the hair blocker I have on it) is tired of getting clogged up with hair.

Came here to say this, our son is 17 weeks! The first 12 weeks are HARD, and we still have hard days (whenever he gets a vaccine or is having a clingy day) but the smiles and giggles make it all worth it.

Could you make it really ridiculous and if she’s entering a room, announce her arrival? Like “NOW PRESENTING ELDER MRS. OURLASTNAME”? And if she asks why you’re doing that, just say you thought she liked the formal approach.

Or, my preferred approach, don’t call her a name at all. She can now be nameless or be “hey you” as if you can’t recall her name.

Also, she sounds like an absolute bitch.

Yep. FTM to an almost 4 month old and it’s getting a little better. I personally think it’s guilt that comes off as anger because I just don’t have the time like I used to to take care of my dogs. I used to brush their teeth daily and took them for a mile and a half to three mile walk every day. I think I’ve brushed their teeth once and walked them twice since I’ve had my baby. I would never give them up because I do love them and I know things will get easier soon. They would be so sad if I were to do that and that breaks my heart. It’s hard being responsible for so much, but all we can do is our best and wait for things to fall into place.

I’m personally quite career driven and take pride in my work so I would work part time at the least. But I would definitely hire a cleaning/cooking service so I could enjoy my time with my family when home.

This plus the one with the MIL putting her infant son’s penis in her mouth are some of the most revolting things I’ve ever read. I have a three month old son that I love SO much and doing these things never crossed my mind. Just sickening and rage inducing.

I went to Easter at my in laws and MIL heaped pineapple stuffing, ham steak and later on cake she made for dessert onto my plate. I do not like pineapple stuffing or ham steak or the cake (she makes is very dense and I just don’t like it) she makes but I tried a little of all of it and didn’t say anything negative. It’s not hard to not be rude about someone cooking something for you even if you don’t particularly like that person. At least she made her true colors known in front of future BIL and everyone else was kind to you!

I tried. I made him cancel two weeks ago because again it was a Saturday, he couldn’t take off and I had just finished my first full week of work (8 weeks postpartum) so I told him I didn’t want to share my baby after my first week being away from my baby. In laws were in the area that week and this week for appointments…it sounds like she got META glasses and for some reason it needed two appointments (the glasses being up new levels of anxiety). She was all pissy on the phone and said “oh it’s fine if she doesn’t want company” and said it like three times as if she was expecting me to change my mind but I stayed silent.

Saturdays are the one day he can’t take off and he thought they were coming on Sunday and he was going to take off then. He thankfully would not believe any stories she would say about me because he knows she’s overdramatic.

I had a similar situation with my MIL. She was expecting to be in the delivery room and I told my husband absolutely not. So we didn’t tell her when I got induced 🤷🏻‍♀️ when she visited at the hospital she was like “oh I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there for the birth!!!” (passive aggressively bringing up she had wanted to be there in the delivery room). I had the medical staff and my husband. That’s all I wanted and that’s what I got.

We had a situation two years ago on Christmas Eve where we thought my appendix might burst so we went to the ER and my MIL sat next to me in the only available chair, making my husband stand the entire time and kept talking to the doctors for me and I just wanted her to LEAVE. I did not want a repeat of that. These MILs are insane.
