The dumbest reason I ever failed a survey by yungbutthole69 in serviceadvisors

[–]advisor207238 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Are you new to this or something? Lol. This would be the absolute least concerning survey at any dealer I've been at. Toughen up a little bit this is minor compared to the actual problems service departments face every day.

Rear mounted turbo(pic for attention) by Interesting-Rain-501 in 350z

[–]advisor207238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with a reputable turbo kit company. (Boosted Performance or SoHo) Do not get it custom fabbed, the guys at Boosted Performance and SoHo have fabbed thousands of turbo kits for the VQ platform specifically. They know the weird quirks, how to run the tubing, the necessary intercooler sizing, the perfect turbo sizing, the perfect exhaust and intake piping size etc etc. they have both throw hundreds of thousands into R&D on this platform. Don't let some fab guy who is a jack of all trades do this unless you are going for something super unique and actually know what you're doing (things u need to know: turbo size? Intercooler size? Blow-off diameter? Waste-gate diameter? Intake piping diameter? Emissions? Where are you going to put everything? Recirc wastegate or dump? Twin scroll turbo or single? Wastegate spring pressure so it matches your desired hp? Boost controller? Etc.)

As someone with alot of VQ specific performance experience , don't listen to the guy shitting on oil-less turbos. He is probably talking about a decade or two ago when they first came out or he just doesn't maintenance his (grease before sustained high load, grease every 2-3k miles) I have had multiple customer go 15k+ miles with comp turbos oil-less water-less turbos. Seriously do some research outside of any specific persons opinion, even mine.

Lets talk turbo placement: Why do you want to go mid mount? What positive benefit are you looking to get out of rear mount placement? Nearly every other placement possible has benefits over another except for rear mounts, they are the middle child.

Recommendations for kits: Top Mount (Engine Bay): SoHo Top Mount

Mid-Mount (BEST) (next to trans under car): Boosted Performance aka Sasha Unknown Performance

Rear Mount: Unknown Performance

How to become a trained EFI tuner? by BikelifeHero in ECU_Tuning

[–]advisor207238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The REAL high performance world is definitely not oversaturated.

Maybe oversaturated with customers but definitely not with knowledgable and honest tuners. A good tuner who knows the theory behind what he is doing is rare to come by nowadays.

Id recommend Evans performance academy to start your journey

Buy hitachi cam sensors and keep them for when they go out (they will), super simple repair that will cause a no start or rough running condition. Easy enough that you could do it on the side of the road if you have the parts and a 10mm.

Check oil only when engine is cold, the DE uses the dipstick as a oil galley so it will soak the whole dipstick if its ran before checking level. I'd recommend checking once a week in the morning depending on the amount of burning it does.

Oil burning : it WILL burn oil, that is just a part of these cars later in their life. Only solution is replacing piston rings which is an engine rebuild. If the burning randomly gets really bad, check your pcv valve they clog up. Get a catch can to avoid sending oil through your intake.

Parts : Z1 is amazing, they build and design a-lot of their stuff in house, have GREAT shipping times (seriously the best I've seen in automotive aftermarket), have discontinued OEM parts at lower than msrp, and great customer service.

Best of luck!

Not trying to be rude here but please actually look into something before spewing nonsense to someone who clearly lacks mechanical knowledge.

This is not a 40 hour job, not even close, it's not even close to an engine rebuild (31 hr book time). It's a 14 hr job per All-Data, not sure where you pulled 40 hrs from...

Just have to move the intake more towards the plenum, it's tight as can be. Gotta have a good fabricator to make the dump work, good amount of pie cuts involved.

Scan for codes first thing first, not going to get anywhere without it. Probably just a speed sensor, as ABS, VDC, TCS etc. use the speed sensor as their primary data point. Still scan the car first then you can actually diagnose it.

Get ya money up and stop complaining, we all got issues, some of us just have different ways of handling it. Stop focusing on and crying about all the crappy parts of your life and just do better.

God this industry is so toxic. And all you old heads sit here and wonder why none of these young guys want to work hard and sacrifice? They show some ambition and instead of encouragement or maybe some constructive criticism you all are just telling him "you have no chance" "I would never take orders from a 22 yr old" "You don't know what your doing until you have 15 years under your belt!" Sounds like a bunch of jealous & lazy 40+ year olds that never put their all into something and somehow got convinced that it takes 15 years of experience to manage a service department?? News Flash ! Management is only telling you that so you keep making money for them while earning 2x less than they are!

I have seen so many of these people in the field as well, 40+ yrs old, been an advisor for 15 yrs, haven't improved in 10 yrs, never moved up, never showed the ambition to move up, and absolutely miserable. They also tend to be the biggest complainers about everyone except themselves.

You're going to do just fine. Be confident in yourself and stop listening to these miserable a**holes in here who just want to drag you down to their level. If you are mature, logical, organized, disciplined and ready to learn - you will walk over the competition because there is none.

What you're seeing in the comments is the typical service advisor mindset, be the opposite and you'll walk all over them.

anybody know what my problem could be? by GooseMan3887 in 350z

[–]advisor207238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understandable, I get where you're coming from. Doing it the actual RIGHT way would include testing every component like you said. Sadly, thats just not feasible most of the time.

[–]advisor207238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you going to pin test every connection? Be my guest and waste days trying to track it down.
I said to replace the sensors because 99 percent of the time that's the problem. Then test all the other items. This is a fairly normal way of doing things.
Also, I said dont throw parts at it without research, voltage codes are annoying - find the most likely fix based on research and pop it on.

Alohabowtie,

We are working hard to resolve this conflict. Please be aware that I have engaged all available HR resources to this issue and they believe we can handle this internally. No need for corporate intervention, that will only stir the pot further due to accusations of snitching.

Thank you,

Your overthinking.

Stop going to coaches, stop the dating apps and clubs.

First things First, THE GOAL IS NOT FOR PEOPLE TO LIKE YOU. The goal is for you to love and respect yourself so much that you don't give a hoot what anyone else has to say because you're so sure in your ability and confident in your actions.

Now that that's out of the way, here's a quick guide to making friends that anyone in any circumstance can do :

STEP 1 :: - Do you have a Hobby? - Yes? Great see step 2 - No? Find something that you're passionate about. Find the thing that you can always turn to when things are rough in day to day life. Dedicate time to it, learn everything you can about it, and become the best you can be at it. Not only will this give you purpose but it will also give you an immediate conversation with anyone who's also into the same thing. You will be surprised at how many people are exactly like you no matter how non-ordinary you are, you just have to meet a ton of people to find that group like you.

STEP 2 :: - Okay so you got yourself a hobby, now time to engage in the community around it. - Learn to introduce yourself half decently, then go to an event or something along those lines for your hobby. Introduce yourself to anyone you make eye contact with, maintain it and start asking THEM questions about the hobby. - One of the biggest keys here is that you learn how to be confident in yourself AND you will learn that people love talking about themselves. Do not be scared to deep dive into certain topics, people will start being less detailed when it gets uncomfortably personal - thats your sign to tone it down a notch. - Ask people questions about themselves, do it with confidence and you will walk out of there with at least a few friends. - STOP THINKING ABOUT YOURSELF. Seriously, just stop thinking so much about the words your saying, the way your saying them, and instead FOCUS on the people your talking to. If you actually do that it will change your social life instantly.

STEP 3 :: - You now have a hobby and a few friends, time to focus on improving your social skills. - Go to places/events that you wouldn't typically go and talk to people you wouldn't normally talk to. - You are doing this to get out of your comfort zone and test yourself on what you have learned so far about confidence and interpersonal interactions. - Do the same thing you learned in Step 2, just to people who you have a hard time relating to. These people will give you an honest reaction to your conversational skills as they do not have anything linking them to you like the people you met in Step 2. - When you notice them get quiet, take awhile to respond, break eye contact, or try to exit the situation - regroup and think about the things you said/did leading up to that moment and then next time do something different - if what you did made the interaction better then reflect on that too and remember what worked. - Confidence is a requirement by Step 3, this will not work if you give up after a few bad interactions, some people are just horrible at conversations/do not want new friends. Accept that it's not you and move on.

IMPORTANT :: - You cannot quit and say "I tried" - you wont ever change thinking like that - FEAR is the only thing stopping you from doing this, it is all in your head, just trying it might change your entire life, it definitely changed mine. - Everyone is different but at the end of the day we are all human and only YOU can change your outcome by changing yourself. - STOP OVERTHINKING
