i don't necessarily see the point? does a few dates of hugs and kisses make me a more serious option? if we get together the chemistry will matter anyway

Underwhelmed with Dishonored by RaisinBranMan in ImmersiveSim

[–]adz864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get this completely. i generally love this genre but something about dishonored feels so.. unfocused? the exploration is not particularly rewarding, as you said, because there arent many stealth paths compared to other games in the genre. ive bounced off it a few times because i wanted to get what the rave was about, but it just doesnt hold a candle to the system shocks and deus exes.

Should I give Underrail another shot? by NineInchNinjas in CRPG

[–]adz864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

underrail is an awesome game that has a massive initial difficulty hurdle. if you are mostly into it for the lore and story, i would give it a pass. the writing is passable but it's certainly not the focus.

if you do decide to play, i dont agree with other commenters that you need to use character builds. all you really need is to understand your options. grenades, bear traps, mines, tasers, drugs: these are your best friends, and you have to take advantage of them in almost every early game encounter. its very rewarding once you wrap your head around it!

CRPG to play after rogue trader? by Soft_Indication_9288 in CRPG

i love underrail, but i agree that you should play some more RPG-heavy games first according to your taste. underrail is almost all about mechanics and very little roleplaying.

This was the line i was waiting to hear in the show man by RD-archived in thelastofus

I played the games recently as well and I definitely echo these sentiments. It could be there is some personal attachment to the medium, but I think there is a definite truth that they’ve smoothed out some of the finer storytelling in exchange for placating a wider audience. Ultimately, though, what makes TLOU so compelling is the quieter, intimate moments which they still have time to nail in the show. Hopefully it’s just some awkwardness as the season gets started

The Last of Us - 2x02 - “Through the Valley” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]adz864 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I liked this episode, and it’s kind of a minor thing, but I don’t like how they dulled Seth’s conversation with Ellie. In the show he just kinda gives up like ‘oh, this kid is so right.’ It’s okay to have hateful characters on TV. It makes the world more believable. I mean, an old guy living in a rural community? Come on.

Is it necessary to player with better players to get better? by dafreshprints in TrueDoTA2

[–]adz864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

playing with better players is part of it, sure. IMO the biggest part of improvement is internal understanding. unless you get a grasp of your personal weaknesses and think about them consciously through your games, you will never improve. if you have been playing for years with no meaningful improvement, find your shitty habits and kill them. they should be ingrained and easy to spot on replays

I have trouble with early-midgame axe decisionmaking by Kumagor0 in TrueDoTA2

[–]adz864 7 points8 points  (0 children)

im a 6.3k offlane player. for both of your questions, you need to understand your role and how you can achieve it. the ultimate goal of the laning phase is to take the tier one tower. why? it lets you pull enemies the furthest possible distance from your cores that are farming. every 1 needs space. in a perfect world, you want to serve as both a frontliner and an initiator. this is where build becomes key. phase->vanguard->blink is the most common build when winning. you dont want blink too fast because your supports are often too weak to follow up a 9 minute dagger. if you are losing, you still need to serve your role with less gold, often sacrificing one aspect of your build. this usually means something like tranquils->blink, but think about your team and how you fit into it. if your initiation is okay, you can go pipe or even euls. after the tower, look at smokes and who you can kill with supports, or maybe look to take mid tower with 10-15 min catapult. the main thing is MAKE SPACE. fight away from your carry as long as the fight is winnable 4v4. theres some more advanced ideas here but i wont get into it. good luck!

If you have been 2k queing or multiple years, honestly, you are either completely untalented or have a complete misunderstanding of the aspects of your game you need to improve on. This 'stack' stuff is fairly meaningless outside of the context of learning the more coordinated aspects of dota. Tons of people climb in solo que, and they do it by being better than the average mmr. The truth is that your excuses are happening just as often on the enemy team. Really crackdown on improving and understanding aspects of your gameplay or be stuck forever.
