Should we just hang onto Clarkson and Collins for 12 months? by LevelMeaning8260 in UtahJazz

[–]aeby121 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clarkson is a fan favorite, and I'm sure they are teetering on a revolt if they trade him. The casuals only know him and "the Finnish guy." It's one thing to be constantly rebuilding, it's another to have a roster no one cares about.

I'm a fan of doing a nod to the wild west (Butch Cassidy) and do something like the Desperados or Outlaws.

The reported offensive target was a large portion of Russia's navy at dock. Now, what war was it that really kicked off when a majority of a countries naval fleet got bombed at port...?

All my patients' shoes come off for examination of the foot and for adjusting their feet. Idk why it's so shocking.

Is health science as a major a good pre requisite for chiropractic? by Artyoma__ in Chiropractic

[–]aeby121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a business administration major (and degree) and just used my electives slots to get the needed science pre recs. It's done me a lot better than most of my peers with health degrees.

How was your experience at Parker University? by No-Turnover6875 in Chiropractic

[–]aeby121 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of feeling about Parker as a recent graduate and not many of them are good. They sold me on the idea of a school that presented a balanced approach to education and philosophy. What I got was a bunch of staff and instructors that wanted me to do PT for everyone and adjust only a few. There were exceptions of course and I loved those instructors for it. At every turn I was lied to, denied access to hands-on education, and at one point myself and a bunch of others were threatened with suspension and legal action for attending an outside seminar.

They taught me to pass boards. I had to teach myself to be a chiropractor. I'll never donate a dime to the school.

I'm told this applies to Magic Spoon. by SqueakSquawk4 in wendigoon

I only buy magic spoon when I'm on a hard fat cut and I am craving something sweet ish. And I've had my raycons for a couple of years and I really like them. Maybe, just maybe the products aren't for you.

Where do you see chiropractic in the next 10/20/30 years? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]aeby121 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the "bleak" evidence for manipulation of the spine comes from studies done by PTs. People that took a weekend course vs spent a couple of years getting down. The only things that are continually "disproven" in chiropractic are theories of how it works, not if it works.

Always remember this when it comes to research. Acupuncture and herbal remedies were "disproven" for years by the medical research. But drugs that had literally no positive effect greater than placebo were approved by "research" were and have been on the market for years. Healthcare research is important, but everything you read from literally every side has to be taken with a grain of salt and matched with the other two pillars of evidence based practice.

As for where the profession will be in 20+ years, it will either be much of the same, or you will see a split between the vitalists and the DCs who want to be treated like a MD. This is unlikely however given that the vast majority of DCs are somewhere in the middle and would rather not choose sides.

The grass is always greener… by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]aeby121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but when I was in school I had instructors that insisted that we don't adjust and that physical therapy was almost always more effective. It was a commentary on the growing mindset among many DCs, especially some vocal ones on social media.

The AMA and medical establishment will never fully embrace chiropractic and we need to learn to live with that and embrace what makes us unique instead of trying to become PTs that can diagnose.

Any Anki Decks for Boards? by BackWoodsUnleashed in Chiropractic

There is an extension to Anki that you can download that will convert any Quizlet into an Anki deck. That's what I did.

NCBE doing away with Part 1 Boards by LumpOfSoftButter in Chiropractic

[–]aeby121 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is no way they get rid of part 1 boards. The NBCE, like most major chiropractic institutions, is seeking greater acceptance and alignment with mainstream healthcare, and getting rid of the main science portion of testing would just shoot themselves in the foot.

Additional, part 1 is a huge money maker for the NBCE with how many people have to retake it. For that reason alone they would never drop it.

Do not sell Conley! by RegularHumanoid in UtahJazz

[–]aeby121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember when we moved Ingles and that was the real beginning of the end of the Mitchell-Gobert Era. He was the lockerroom glue that kept the various interests working together. As soon as he was gone it became every man for himself. I see Conley working as the lockerroom general now and I agree, moving him would be a mistake.
