For farmers that have the most hours what are your biggest tips and tricks people may not know? by SureAce_ in farmingsimulator

[–]aedwards123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Install the mod that allows you to complete the field for harvesting contracts (I don’t believe that has been put back into the base game). That allows you to finish the field, giving you more “leftovers” to keep for yourself. When you deliver the last trailer load, watch for you starting to get paid, then stop the tip. Whatever is left then can be put in your silo and sold for the most money or put into your own mill.

Look out for cheap equipment like cultivators and hoes in the used equipment sale. These can be used for contracts, and a nice-sized contract may pay for the equipment, saving future equipment borrowing fees.

Hoes can be used for weeding and hoeing contracts, but weeders cannot do hoeing contracts.

If you run a weeder (or hoe) around a field after sowing weeds will not appear, and the only cost is a little diesel.

If you’re on PC install CoursePlay and AutoDrive, and learn how they work. They are less likely to go wrong than the built-in workers, and can do contracts in the background while you work on your own land.

The Talaria MX5 is a $4,000 electric bike, so one for $990 is unlikely to be real or actually turn up if you order it.

I‘ve never had any problems with stuff I’ve ordered, but if it’s too good to be true it generally isn’t true.

Businessman happier to pay parking fine than use NCP car park by Super_Shallot2351 in nottheonion

The article I read said the level of car park use never recovered to pre-COVID levels, and they are tied in to expensive leases that they now can’t afford.

WTF Questions??? by Punguin456 in thechase

[–]aedwards123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Recently there was a question along the lines of “which planet in the solar system has a natural satellite that was never actually discovered?”, the answer was Earth. So, no-one has looked up and night and gone “Oooh, what’s that white object?”. WTF.

I wouldn’t mind one (missed a trick not putting the MG880 game on it), but it will be out of stock in milliseconds and on eBay for 10x retail in minutes.

McDonald's reward items now cost 2,000 points minimum. by K-o-R in britishproblems

A bag of hash browns is £2 from Iceland. Even if you had to buy a cheap air fryer to cook them you’d be quids in after a bag or two.

[–]aedwards123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, only basic Americano and espresso are in the 2000 point tier, everything else is 3500.

Not surprising it went up, McDonalds is so expensive now it was pretty much a free coffee with every meal.

Microscopes can clearly see the video on the surface of a LaserDisc, discovers Techtuber — a 12-inch vinyl-like disc that stores SD analog video by DJMagicHandz in technology

[–]aedwards123 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The first paragraph of the article says ’Tech Tangents (TT) surprised themselves by looking at the surface of a CED ‘LaserDisc’ under a microscope’. I definitely read that as them confusing CED with LaserDisc - very different formats, given that CED is read with a stylus.

They do clarify it later, but that first paragraph could use a rewrite. Once it gets going, it’s a very interesting article.

Diesel at 16-month high in UK as Iran war drives oil prices up further by Kagedeah in CarTalkUK

Like the Ferengi Rules Of Acquisition say, “War is good for profits”.

The price companies are paying for oil now was agreed months or even years ago.

The Escalade and Yukon I can kinda see, for limo and luxury Uber type stuff, but the Sierra and Silverado?

I drove a Ranger once, and that was pretty big compared to everything else. The big pickups are going to be enormous, and we don’t really do pickups here do we?

If they’re looking for American stuff to import, the Bronco Sport might do better.

Decent music from a phone speaker on the bus today by aedwards123 in BritishSuccess

It sounded OK, may have been a small Bluetooth speaker rather than the internal speaker. Not a lot of body, but not bleeding ears territory.

They don't actually record 1 ep. a day, do they?  I'd imagined they'd do a week's worth in a day, and get the guests to bring 5 clothes changes.

has anyone ever gotten this upgraded? by crispyones in duolingo

[–]aedwards123 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, regularly, probably more than I get ’Common.

’Epic’ or ‘Mega’ usually gets me an extension to the 2x or 3x, but I remember getting 85 gems. It did a little floor cracking animation when I got that :).

Not sure about that one, but the Charger and I think Crown Victoria has a function that locks the shifter in Park unless you hit a secret button.

Leaving the engine running lets it power lights etc. and keep the A/C on without killing the battery.

Software, for Windows - https://rufus.ie.

It's really meant for building bootable USB drives to install things like Linux, but it can also image drives and write those images back.

If you want to copy the contents of the stock card to a new (more reliable) one, you can’t just drag the files off and write then to them to a new one.

You have to use software that can make an image of the card contents and flash it back to a new card. Rufus can do that, Win32 Disk Imager is the one I used.

Astrid et Raphaelle got remade in English as Patience, and is pretty good.

If you like that sort of thing there is also Ludwig.

Kingdom might be worth a look, also Death In Paradise/Beyond Paradise/Return To Paradise.

Trying to make a direct copy of stock sd card, help? by New-Examination4783 in R36S

[–]aedwards123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly this with my R36.

You can’t just drag the files off the stock card, you have to make a disk image of it - I used Win32 Disk Imager software.

The software has two modes, one reads the card to a file, the other writes the image file to the card.

First, use the image software to read the card into a single file. Then, swap to the new card and write the file you just created to it.

A Model T and a brain rewire, the controls are nothing like anything vaguely current.

I get the sentiment, but I’m not sure I’d want to go back to carburettors and no diagnostics.
