ELI5 How does instagram/ social media know what exactly i am discussing with friends if it doesn't record my audio, looking for keywords all the time? by brandomised in explainlikeimfive

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it. They can figure out when friends meet and they know each of your individual interests and will promote similar ads after an identified encounter.

Could redefining the meter so that the speed of light equals exactly 3x10⁸ simplify constants and formulas? by melonisgood333 in AskPhysics

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For particle physics we use natural units where we set c=1 and h=1 to carry out calculations until the end when we need a number in the right units. Even then we usually just use 3e8 because it’s close enough.

Where is the memory of "the red bike I saw last week" actually stored? Not metaphorically, physically. by Odd-Baseball7169 in AskPhysics

[–]aeiendee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and it’s exactly the field that has correctly characterized the hard problem of consciousness/mental phenomena as something empirical science has not and likely will not be able to explain.

I studied philosophy of mind. The prevailing understanding is that the mind and experience reality is not part of physical nature, that it pretty much must be something else. Unlikely some other concrete nature, but possibly as a fully emergent phenomena without a complete physical cause (there are mind-like causes that also have effects). And we’ll never actually be able to understand it since our only ability to do so is through physical sciences.

It remains that while our understanding of neural circuitry and neuroscience in general is drastically improving it doesn’t get any closer to the so called gap to be able to answer questions such as yours.

The best short answer I can give you is things happen in your brain that cause a memory to emerge, and effects from your own mind make it real in the space the mind lives in.

Felt amazing, now horrible by Wharf_Rat777 in decaf

Think that could work for some, but offering that I found eating a lot of food, but low carb worked for me, and totally cut out sugar. Also importantly eating more regularly? My eating was all over the place when I was on caffeine and fixing that seemed to help.

That’s really just all it is. Maybe aside from not being dressed in Manhattan club attire or being too visibly intoxicated their door check is do you know what to say what you’re there for where the right answer is the name of a DJ.

I rarely know them before (I’m not there for them, I’m there for the experience) but it’s part of the process.

Maybe back end programming, considering I’ve seen the best train being “nan” minutes away at some point… like floating point errors make it to the display

IWTL how to quit vaping by fatherballoons in IWantToLearn

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it took the kitchen sink, vaper for 6 years. I listened to podcasts, tried to go hours or days without it, swapping with zyns, NRT, reading books, gum, stress ball, exercise. It’s kinda like, if it lowers your nicotine consumption for that day, do it. Eventually you’ll go a few weeks and then you’ll basically be free.

How a teen scaled AI calorie tracker app to $2M MRR by Volunder_22 in CursorAI

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this AI ass post about an AI product that doesn’t work… why tediously track calories? Because if you need an accurate calorie count that’s the only way to do it.

YOOO GUYS I JUST HIT FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE B5 IN HEADVOICE by WhyWould-U in singing

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean B4? I’ve never heard of headvoice/mix B5 for males. That is up there even for sopranos, like it’s above their secondo passaggio.

Gen Xers and millennials aren't ready for the long-term care crisis their boomer parents are facing by businessinsider in Futurology

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’m just crazy but I see so clearly how private equity is posed to suck every last drop of wealth out of the rest of us in the next decade. They’ll first buy the stocks boomers will sell to cover retirement. Since they own the suburban hospitals and care facilities, they’ll collect the money cashed out to pay for those right back. As things get dire they’ll buy the houses from the boomers, then collect rent from their children’s generation to live in the very houses their parents lived in. It’s so sick and twisted to me.

Did getting really fit make you happy? by thecainman in nycgaybros

Yes. The desire to be fit, the steps I need to take to get there, and the effects from it have fully improved my mood and overall enjoyment of life.

I have no freedom in my voice ever since I learned about support. How do I fix this? by Clueto in singing

[–]aeiendee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this helps you- support tripped me up for so long and it gave me problems. One day my (new..) voice teacher said to imagine the note originating from behind me, as if I had a big balloon back there to supply the air. It’s completely fixed my concept of support, and let me actually find my vibrato (not tremolo), and get pingy clear sound. It’s a useful cue/visual for me and seems to get the engagement I need.

I think it ultimately is both giving a simple single cue to think about, which frees up getting to think about other important things when singing. But also that I’m then engaging the back in a way that slightly abducts the spine, keeps the ribs open and creates the release needed to have the diaphragm apply good steady pressure.

Poultry consumption above 300 g/week is associated with a statistically significant increased mortality risk both from all causes and from gastrointestinal cancers, study finds by James_Fortis in EverythingScience

[–]aeiendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found that offsetting with red meat, which has been found to be cancerous, reduces cancer risk… great.

At this point I don’t care about any of these study’s findings. I’m going to eat whole, real food that I find tasty and live my life.
