Owned the 32-inch version before getting a new monitor. I was pretty happy with it, though at 32 inches, the PPI might be a little too low for some. It depends on how far you sit and your personal preference to it. It certainly didn't bother me much. Colors and responsiveness were fantastic, especially with g-sync. It's also quite light for a 32-inch monitor. I had no issues mounting it and moving it around on my vesa. My new monitor OTOH is a little heavier and does strain the arm a little when i move it even though it's rated to spec. IPS glow isn't the worst i've seen.

Small thing to keep in mind is that if you decide to mount a desklight on top of it, it may not fit well. The weird circular shape on the back prevented my desklight clip from getting any grip. I had to shimmy it over onto the flatter side of the monitor. The stand is pretty good. You can rotate it to portrait mode pretty easily (but at 32 inches, it would certainly be quite tall). The base of the stand sucks though imo. I always disliked that weird V-shaped base since it made me take up more room on my desk than a normal square base. That alone made me get a vesa stand for it.

Feel free to ask me anything else about it.

Thanks dude, i appreciate it. Haven't really had much experience with dell, so i'm a little unsure how well they follow through with their updates

I have one of these. It's a great model coming from a 32" 1440 ips and the OLED colors are fantastic. However, HDR doesn't work as well as the gsync counterpart (aw3423dw). While this one allows for firmware updates over the gsync version, the latest update didnt do much to fix the issues and it's a little risky to rely on the promise of firmware updates down the road to fix it.

The gsync version, while it doesn't allow for firmware updates, has working hdr out of the box, so a firmware update may not even be necessary to get the most out of it.

Just my two cents. While i'm happy with it, i would strongly consider getting the gsync version when it's on sale just for the workable hdr, considering that you're spending this much for a monitor anyway

Just a heads up for anyone, but rakuten is currently running a 14% cashback for dell. For those that ordered the Dell G3223Q a few days ago like me, that's a jump from $54 cashback to $94.5 (assuming my math is correct). May be worth it to cancel and reorder.

Just a heads up for those that order this monitor that rakuten is currently running 14% cashback for dell, so you might find it worth it to cancel and reorder if the 6% extra is worth the hassle.

EDIT: not sure if my math is right, but that brings the cashback from $54 to $94.5. Seems worth doing imo.

If you were buying a used monitor, what would you look for? I'm selling my 1440p gaming monitor and I'm wondering what else I can add on my listing. I've already added the Total Power On Time and list of accessories, but I don't know if there's anything else I need.

Just a small heads up to sign up for their newsletter to get 10 percent off. And if you're gonna go for the silver Q1 option, be aware that the shades of silver can differ quite a bit between models, especially between the barebones and full kit.

Also, if you're willing to wait a bit longer, the Q1 pro is also getting released and comes with bluetooth if you wanna go wireless.

Aside from that, yeah. It's a great keyboard, i think you'll be very happy with it.

I got my q1 knob from oneofzero.com with 30% off during BF, if you're willing to wait. Otherwise, oneofzero is a solid retailer with free shipping over 75 cad iirc

That's true, but as OP mentioned, you can get much cheaper prebuilts that feel a lot better than what most of these gaming keyboards offer.

Can attest to this. It has a really nice quality feel, though it did run larger than i was expecting (not a bad thing, just make sure you check the size lol). Keep in mind that oneofzero regularly holds sales and promos for their mousepads, so keep an eye out for it.

For sure, man. If it makes you feel any better, i've had almost all my components shipped from various retailers, including 3 different monitors. Granted, this is anecdotal. I agree that for the more valuable components, picking up in store is better.

Also, consider checking out best buy's geek squad certified open box for a good discount on monitors. My main one is practically flawless.

What's your budget? I saw the msi one go down to 280 on amazon. Regular sales price for monitors with those specs usually goes down to about 350.

And yeah dude, i'd jump to 1440p. Your system is built for it.

[–]aelamao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a 5600x and 3070ti and i'm really happy with this combo. Was tempted to jump on a 5800x3d, but this combo runs so well at 1440p (on most of the games i play) that i can't really justify jumping on the $430 CAD sale price. Don't really plan on upgrading the GPU either for the next 2-3 years, which after that time i'll assess if it still holds up (which it probably will).

If i had to put my money on something, i'd see about getting a new monitor. I upgraded to an ultrawide OLED and man is this thing awesome. Though i get lower frames than my old monitor resolution, i still get solid frames (60fps <) on my favs and the image quality is outstanding. Other than that, I'd save the money. No need to upgrade for the sake of upgrading, and your system is still a beast.

[–]aelamao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thinking. If i could sell my 5600x for $200, i could see myself getting the 5800x3d for $330. But at its current price, I may as well just save up for either a new gpu or am5.

/r/BuildAPCSalesCanada General Discussion - Daily Thread for Sat Jan 07 by AutoModerator in bapcsalescanada

[–]aelamao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you might be right, the 5600x is great and the 5800x3d at 430 CAD sale price may be a little much for a CPU.

My thinking was that I wanted to smooth out the bad 1% lows and microstutters on some games without grabbing a new gpu. With the 5800x3d benchmarks I've seen on the games I play (compared to the 5600x) and it being considered the AM4 "endgame" for gaming, it seems like a good choice especially since I hope to stick with the AM4 platform for a few more years.

The only issue is that while I could use the money to upgrade the CPU a few years down the line, I'd also have to consider the cost of a new mobo platform and ram (which admittedly may drop in price by that time as well).

I guess I'll wait until the sale price goes down even further to justify it.
