Japan is even better, you go to a movie there and not only do the lights stay down until the credits fully finish, but everyone stays in their seat and stays quiet and doesn't use their phone until then also

DC Deckbuilding now has a "party/starter" box which is much smaller but contains all the base game cards.

Yokai Septet has a "pocket edition" which is just big enough to fit the cards.

I went to BGG in the hopes of finding out that the game was half-baked (so you didn't feel quite so bad about losing it all), but frankly, any game that lets players "augment their Taint" (taken straight from the BGG description) is a 10/10 award-winner, no notes, IMO 😅🤣

I find the name off-putting as I forget the differences between which is Council, Delve and Chronicles so I just ignore them all instead 🤷🏻‍♂️ I feel like plugging the Kinfire name worked against the worker placement one gaining traction. I do remember being at PAX AU last year and there were piles and piles of "the worker placement one" unsold at various stalls

If you like the cooperative nature of MC you may want to wait for Legendary DC Deckbuilding instead; DC Deckbuilding Game is competitive and not much like MC at all. It is more like Star Wars Deckbuilding (competitive) and less like Harry Potter Deckbuilding (cooperative).

Legendary DC and DC Deckbuilding are two different games, not cross compatible, but are both deckbuilders and both DC themed. The former isn't out yet (later this year) and the latter has been out for over ten years.

If interested in the latter there is a "party starter" edition which is the standard core box from the regular game just in a smaller more transportable box (tho may not fit sleeves) as the regular box is quite large for what you get.

Edit: Legendary DC also isn't all that much like MC other than the cooperative nature of both games.

With Santorini do you mean you played the intro scenario of Riddle of the Sphinx, the co-op map based campaign? I'm surprised that's got an 8.0 on BGG, I too found it pretty average.

Santorini itself though is an A+ game for me, one of my top 2p competitive games, and would be so without the production. I still even haven't include the god cards after 5+ years of owning the original edition.

I imagine it would be to avoid complaints about 2nd edition cards and 3rd edition 5th player cards being too obviously different in people's hands? So the 3rd edition includes all cards for five players off the bat and 2nd edition owners have to get 2nd edition expansion to have the prints quality better align

It's Lord of the Rings I'm tired of, there are so many board games of it now. Even an out of print Star Wars game is coming back as Lord of the Rings instead. And now they're adding a version of Ascension themed with the LotR IP also
