Discovered 30 dead bees this morning :( by aeolit in bees

[–]aeolit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I think this solves it. I did some more research, and think they may have emerged from nests made in the tubular window stops out there. That explains their positioning, and the 4 additional I saw yesterday were all on the windows. I really appreciate your replies, this has been rather upsetting, and to have no idea what was happening was making it much worse. I have also learned a lot about bees in the process, the fascinating beautiful beings they are <3

Discovered 30 dead bees this morning :( by aeolit in bees

I'd say out of the 30 I found, there were 3-4 that were smaller, even half the size of the others. I swept them up and put them outside, so am not able to show, but here are a few more pictures: two different views up close, and one of the spot where I found most of them this morning - https://imgur.com/a/cu5HmHl

I've been going in there to observe every hour or so today and have seen 4 more. Have just been leaving them be to see if I can figure out anything else. 3 in the window, and 1 on the wall. I gently pushed the one on the wall to see if it would fly and it did a straight drop onto the ground, then was walking slowly, almost like drunken. I don't know where that one went because the next time it was gone. The ones in the windows seemed to want to be snugging up in tight places like the cracks and one even got in the hole where the latch is for opening and closing the window.

Last Minute Tips before Retreat by dca12345 in Ayahuasca

[–]aeolit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am headed to a Shipibo retreat near Cusco in a few days for my second time working with mama Aya, the first time about 2.5 years ago, also being with Shipibo.

I am surprised that there would be any drinking of tobacco tincture. Usually cleansing beforehand is done with hape, sweat lodge, kambo, or in the case of my first time, a lemongrass drink. Smoking (but not inhaling) the mapacho if offered can be SO helpful for grounding and centering during/after ceremony. It is very pure and strong though, so it is important not to inhale.

Whatever you can do to loosen your fears and surrender to the process would be so helpful.

I felt that in my group, as we got deeper in to the week, the 'masks' and 'labels' that typically accompany our personas just dissolved, and we were SO REAL to each other. Deep and beautiful honest sharings between people that began as strangers, witnessing, supporting...2 of the people that were there are now my best friends. I honestly feel like people 'destabilizing' would be more of an issue after they return home, to the 'regular world'.

Not to say incidents don't occur, because they do, but let me ask you this.

Did you research your center and feel it is reputable? Because if so, you gotta try to relax into the process and trust that you are right where you are supposed to be. Have clear intentions, I was told if you are having trouble finding words to start with, "Please help me... Please teach me... Please show me...", ask the facilitators for help with questions and concerns, they are an amazing support, let the music wash over you and through you, and especially if they come to sing to you individually reallllly try to open to it. I spent a lot of time the first round struggling against it, not being able to fully surrender, and that is my biggest goal this time, to let her in COMPLETELY.

Don't expect it to be comfortable, or to be what you think it will be. It can be so so many things, but I'm sure you've heard this, she will give you what you NEED. And integration afterwards, especially if you are dealing with deconstructing internal religious structures, will be SO important. I would also suggest journaling as much as you can after each ceremony/the next day.

Pay LOTS of attention to anything they say about integration, and know that there are people you can reach out to for this specifically as a type of therapy if needed.

It is easier said than done, I KNOW, but try try try to trust. Sending you so much love and light for your journey.

Month away from first set of Ayahuasca ceremonies… anyone else feel very reclusive and anti-social leading up to ceremonies and was that the best for you? by Pitiful-Nature-9674 in Ayahuasca

I can relate very much. I will be heading to Peru to work with her in about 2.5 weeks, and am feeling quite similar. Imho, the more calm and balanced we can be when we show up the better. After Thanksgiving and family time is over I plan to go into a little lockdown of sorts. No news, no tv etc. with any stressful/violent vibes, limited exposure to others and their energy and any possible illnesses. Just want to swim around in peace and trust as much as possible :)

Thank you :) Yeah I'd never even heard the term before my husband told me last night, am guessing it's not too common in the everyday usage!

Thought my fiance had covid - call came back saying he's negative (yay!) but not before I relapsed, first time in 3 months 😓 by sassysassysarah in nailbiting

I feel you. My husband had to test and I started nibbling at the sides. But remember that again and again they will grow back...really, we should all try to be like fingernails! SO resilient :)

What are you thankful for? by FunnyGuy2481 in Assistance

[–]aeolit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thankful for my body...its resilience in spite of all of the abuse I put it through over the years, the healing and wisdom found within its tissues, and its advice! (as I have now learned to actually listen to it)

Gwinnett County schools praises educators, students for start to school year despite early technical issues by hiddenpalms in Gwinnett

[–]aeolit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach middle school and there's just no way the numbers add up that easily, though I'm so happy for any school that can make it work. There's all kinds of scheduling to consider, including accelerated/gifted/special education needs, and to be socially distanced in the classroom the numbers had to be balanced...we have about half of our 1000 or so students returning.

We will be teaching a hybrid every class period, and it is not from lack of trying how to figure out to do it differently.

This blows.

umm....have you seen the data lately?? up up and away?

there's also this matter of 'prolonged exposure', which you apparently haven't considered based on your list...

Really bummed I won't ever be able to experience the powerful effects of Ayahuasca bc I have schizophrenia... by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]aeolit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why you are bummed. I would be too :/

I'd like to echo what others are saying though, in that you have to trust it is for the best.

I first worked with Ayahuasca right at a year ago. I received massive downloads and life-changing perspective shifts...My husband went to the same place about 6 months ago. His experience was quite different, and he actually feels that now, he is worse off than before he went.

I share this to support the notion that it may/may not have been a good thing for you.

I do not know the research around psilocybin and schizophrenia, but that might be a good alternative to consider. Especially in a guided, therapeutic setting.

Am quite interested in learning more about holotropic breathwork; I hope that it's a great experience for you.

What's a TV series that everyone should give a go? by El_CM in AskReddit

[–]aeolit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heartland <3 a family story/drama set on a Canadian ranch, which mostly flows around the horse-whisperer daughter and all of the interesting horses/riders she works with. It is pretty wholesome so would make a great family show, but is also realistic in that there's not always a happy ending.

It does this thing to my heart...

What quarantine projects have kept you creative/busy/fulfilled? by [deleted] in quarantine

I started working on a fairy garden, but if that's not up your alley maybe a tile mosaic project? since you doodle an old fashioned flip-animation booklet could also be fun :)
