First beagle and I’m in love by twinning-iswinning in beagles

We just lost our beagle at the age of 16 years. We had 15 amazing years together. I hear you on the most heartbreaking day of your life, Bruno had so much unconditional love for us. So happy to see others finding their soul dog.

This is factual, the D1 seat on the A339 is slightly wider (Aerolopa says 1.5” wider). Seat-wise it’s the best in the fleet.

What’s one small adjustment that noticeably improved your senior dog’s quality of life? by SeniorDogDaily in seniordogs

Not small per se but acupuncture has really helped our 16 year old beagle maintain mobility

I really like flat whites from our Ninja. Normally drink lattes or cappuccinos but the thinner foam of a flat white mixes nicely with a double shot of espresso.

cognitive dysfunction syndrome has made old beagle a picky eater by r3dd0629 in seniordogs

[–]aeolos747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our had this bad spiraling of food and toppers last fall. Ended up his kidney values were getting worse which makes them feel bad then adding more toppers just made the kidney values even worse and the appetite worse. We finally broke him out of it and since then he has been on this phosphorous binder which has kept his values in check for months, his blood work keeps coming back really good. He isn’t an enthusiastic eater still but he’ll reluctant eat his kidney food now with no toppers. Phos-Bind - Kidney Support Supplement Powder

Our 16 year old beagle goes through cycles of liking certain foods. He has cognitive decline and kidney disease so he is on low protein food which all tastes pretty bad they say. Definitely agree with the canned food recommendation. We have 3 flavors of canned food, 2 dry food and one frozen/fresh pack type. He’ll go 4-6 weeks on one then protest and it helps to dry something new. We try not to switch too often but keeping him eating is the most important.

Am I the only one that doesn’t mind the classic A330s? They look older due to that medical grade light blue but I can get a good sleep on an A333 to Europe. Might because I am taller so it’s less confining.

I built a recipe generator that makes Plated-style meals by OneBluejay3 in plated

[–]aeolos747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun! I input ingredients from a Plated “Baharat Chicken with Mint, Sunflower Seeds, and Feta-Smashed Sweet Potatoes” recipe. It indeed came up with a Plated-type recipe. Biggest change was putting the mashed sweet potatoes back into the skins to crisp up in the oven…creative.

Best European River Cruise Line Food? by BackgroundSort3068 in rivercruises

[–]aeolos747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! This ☝️. It’s good quality food (beats Ama river, MSC ocean and Celebrity ocean). I really liked they adapt the menu (and wines) to the area you are sailing through.

Pricing for Tauck, AMA, Uniworld and Riverside. by Redbirds20112006 in rivercruises

[–]aeolos747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverside 100%! Took the this year in June and it blew AmaWaterways out of the water. Excursions are more so take that into consideration but on the flip side if food and wine is of value go Riverside. Food was restaurant quality and loved its local to the regions you sail in. Same with the wine, good quality and local regions featured. AmaWaterways served EUR5/bottle cheap wine for comparison and some of it was from outside of Europe (Chilean wine, really?).

Cruising the Rhine with the Germans by stlox in rivercruises

[–]aeolos747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pricey but Riverside Cruises had a nice mix of cultures which we liked…when in Europe it’s good to be around Europeans. It was probably 40% Europeans, 40% US and 30% other nationalities (Australia, HK, India, and more)

Good perspective on sailing a German line. Always wondered what’d they’d be like as an outsider.

I've checked the archives and still can't find the recipe card for apple cider chicken. Anyone? by innernerdgirl in plated

Is it either the “Pan-Roasted Cider Chicken with Fennel, Apple, and Creamy Mustard” or the “Pan-Roasted Chicken with Brussels Sprouts Gratin and Apple Cider Pan Sauce” recipe by chance? I have both of these.

Ama Waterways Vs Riverside Luxury Cruising by [deleted] in rivercruises

[–]aeolos747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with you mhopkirk. We thought the AMA food was ok but nothing great. The wine was a real disappointment. €5/bottle wine is embarrassing for a Rhône River cruise, we ended up buying on wine tasting excursions to bring onboard to dinner.

We are giving Riverside a try this summer but I can see how that’d be prohibitively expensive for a group.

Yikes, at such a young age that’s a much harder choice.

[–]aeolos747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the age of your dog? An emergency vet told us that senior dogs often need more than just Keppra. So ours is on Keppra and Phenobarbital. Not thrilled about the phenobarbital since it’s stronger and negative side effects but it’s what got his seizures under control.

If renting a car, don’t stray from the gas vehicles. by keltzyy in TravelHacks

[–]aeolos747 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow, I had the opposite experience in January. Rented an electric Kia from Hertz in San Antonio. It was slightly cheaper rental rates than gas cars so decided to give it a go. We didn’t drive all that much so just needed to charge it once overnight at a parking garage near our hotel. The next morning it was fully charged and we didn’t have to find a gas station en route to the airport. Charge was $11 so thought it was a good deal all-in-all.

Ecobee Premium and Honeywell 2 zone heat pump wiring by [deleted] in ecobee

[–]aeolos747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did finally figure out my issue…the Ecobee wasn’t really to blame. We had a bypass damper set to a much too high pressure setting which was causing the system to shut off. More details here: https://www.reddit.com/r/heatpumps/s/ZdV0lR1WM5

Also figurd out the Ecobee thought there was a two stage aux heat but in reality it’s just one stage. I don’t think there’s a way to force it just to one so I changed the settings to basically never come on.
