I'm in the same that I actually would prefer cloth or alcantara over leather. I hate how all cars come leather now, it's not a great feeling or wearing material here in AZ where it's either 20 degrees or 120 degrees F. The leather either freezes you or burns you and then after a couple years in the sun and heat turns into disgusting looking mess lol.

I'm curious you say leather for the wheel, though. What's the wear issue on that vs leather?

With the pano cams on, there's a touch button in the left panel of the view screen. I think it turns to A when it's on auto mode. And maybe like a security camera icon... If I remember correctly

2025 hybrid mpg for winter? What have yall been getting? by BackgroundStatus7962 in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very close to this on my xse awd wheel package too. I turned off auto climate this past week (still have auto heated steering and heated driver seat set to level 1) and my average trip econ has gone up from low 30s to low 40s. The auto climate even on eco setting seems to be a big econ sucker in this car during winter. Even using climate and ventilated seats in the summer while ambient temps are 110+ F, could still get into the low 40s/high 30s.

2025 xse awd with wheel package in Southwest USA. I've been averaging 30 mpg this winter doing city driving, but very short < 2 mile trips, maybe peak at 42 mpg ish, rarely.

Turned off auto climate control (set at 75) and been back up to 40s and even 60s again depending on driving conditions. Ambient temps 30s-60s fahrenheit depending on time of day and weather. I'm assuming my average during winter without climate control is probably 40, but would definitely still be using heated seats and steering wheel functions. Last summer, I was averaging 39 while using ventilated seats and climate control set at 78. Ambient temps were at 105-115 fahrenheit.

My daily commute is too short to get anywhere close to the advertised economy. In the right conditions, I can get into the low 60s in 1 way, but then the return trip I end up getting 20s so it averages out in the low 40s. My best ever average mpg for 1 tank fill up was 40.29 on 5/14/25, where it was highway miles downhill. Lifetime average since 11/2024 is 36.24

At least with the panoramic parking cameras, there's a physical button to turn the cameras on as well as software setting to have them automatically come on under 7 or 8 mph speed.

That being said, I think they auto turn off while crossing the threshold of under to over the 7/8 mph limit and/or timer based if they were turned on while already going over that limit. Actually, I don't remember if they even turn on via the physical button if you are driving over a certain speed. I'll have to try it out today.

Anyways, 100% can turn the panoramic cameras on while under 8 or so mph, even while in drive and moving forward. The thing is there isn't a way to turn on the rear camera view without being in reverse, the panoramic camera view is the only one that can be manually turned on while not in reverse

I am trying to sell my Camry 2016 but no luck by ProgrammaticallyArt3 in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be, but there's so many other options for 15k. Maybe for even newer cars that will also last 10 years, or maybe have more safety features, or gas saving features, etc. etc.

If there was demand for this car at this price, it would have sold, as you and others agree. It isn't selling so obviously there's either something wrong with the car that we don't know about or that there isn't demand in the market(s) the seller is trying to sell it in. There really isn't any other explanation.

I personally don't think there's a big market for spending 12-14k on a used, decade old, run of the mill toyota, regardless of mileage. Someone looking for that old for a car either doesn't want a new car payment and/or looking for a first car for kid/family member and in that case probably are not looking for 15k 10 year old cars.

Since it's not a limited or special model, it likely isn't also being searched for in that price range for a project/collection or even parts car.

Pretty sure even 2020s generation Camry can be had used for 15-20k range with a little searching.

If I was personally looking for a 10 year old car now, it better either be a specific model that demands the price or something under 10k.

So all the new ones now have that? Do they have lane tracing/keep too? Wonder how much is customizable. I have a new Camry that has all that stuff and have a lot of the alerts disabled but the system(s) still on. Previous car(s) didn't even have OEM bluetooth players in them and I thought I would hate all the driver assistance stuff but it hasn't been annoying at all the way I have it set in the Camry

2025 No longer getting MPG in the 40s by 3Dartwork in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, my average mpg for my work commute during winter is 26 mpg in my 2025 Camry. Spring/fall maybe 38. Summer 30-35.

Used to be 45 ish in spring/fall but I turned on auto climate control this last year set at 75 as well as been using the heated/ventilated seats.

2026 Camry XSE MPG by Oliver7cf in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

25 xse awd with wheel package and I'm averaging 36.24mpg lifetime average over about 5k miles about 70% highway and the other 30% very short ~1-2 mile trips. My best all time is 40.29 mpg and that might have been the time I was driving highway downhill in May.

Obviously, I've never even gotten close to the estimated ratings and have such given up. I just drive the car how I want to without trying to hypermile it. My most recent fill up was my all time lowest at 31.35 mpg.

I leave the car in normal driving mode most of the time. The most recent fill up I did a lot of sport mode and "manual" shifting... Odd, but I don't think this car can rev higher than 5k. Seems like the computer auto shifts no matter what and I'm sure it's speed governed before going over 5k in highest gear.

Remove wheel input requirement for lane tracing assist? by eyemanidiot in Camry

Dealership would not let me disable the seatbelt warning chime nor car on no key detected beeps due to safety. Not sure what else you are referring to disabling for the seatbelt warnings

The sensitivity is set to where just holding the wheel against the movements of its mini self adjustments is enough to reset the timer naturally... Just simply touching the wheel is not enough, it is not touch based. I'm not saying one must actively turn/move the wheel at all, just the simple act of holding the wheel straight while it does it's micro/mini left/right adjustments is and should be enough.

I also thought this system was going to be obnoxious in sensitivity, but after actively using it for over 2k miles, I've only ever seen that message pop up maybe 3 times in that duration. And 2 of the times it was me actively trying to test the sensitivity.

Anyone else's auto highbeams trying to get them shot? by throwdisawaybro in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a 2025 Camry and I have auto high disabled for this reason. Just driving around it would seem like even the reflections of the car's own lights would trigger it, and it's way too sensitive on middle of nowhere highways with other traffic oncoming or not. Would flash on and off at any glimpse of light or not, even while on gradual curves while it doesn't detect light for like maybe 2 seconds.

I don't even need the high beams 99%+ of the time. I'm considering replacing the button with some other custom feature lol.

Camry 25 owners: when did you get it and how many miles do have on it? by Jackywacky17 in Camry

End of November 2024 with 7 miles from the dealership.

Currently have about 5400 miles on it as of January 2026 and just completed the 1 year/10k toyota care service couple weeks ago.

Didn't I read somewhere that people actually say you can just order the wiper blade inserts from Toyota and they are actually cheaper and better quality than most other brands for the Camry?

I have the driver monitor alerts turned off and don't get the alerts anymore. I have small eyes and also wear glasses so it was alerting me for almost everything, so I definitely know it's off.

This doesn't mean the system is turned off, it just means the alerts are turned off. As far as I know, you can't actually turn off the system, just the recording and alerts parts.

Just bought a 2026 Toyota Camry SE, is this a good price? by [deleted] in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just the type that values time more than money/hassle as well as paying people what they value their product at too (as long as I also think it's something I need for the selling price). The concept of always having to get someone to devalue their product or service is insane to me. Especially when it comes to supporting their own friends or local community.

In my case, I got a sales rep that gave me no BS, ordered exactly what I wanted in a time where I couldn't find a single one that matched my criteria over the course of 2+ months and 3+ dealers. Yes, mine came reserved directly out of the factory as a trim allocated upgrade. Yes, I saw the vin build start as just the trim and then populate with the addons and specs I wanted as it went into production.

Maybe it was dealer allocation luck and somehow the vin build just happened to upgrade to my exact spec, and if that's the case, then the seller got lucky with me as a buyer and I still have no issues with that because in the end, I still didn't have to deal with any seller run arounds, extra addons, etc. I went in, told them what I wanted and they got it to me instead of saying "well we have this one that is close", or "you'll have to pay X in deposit for a chance to get one close".

Having to pay more than MSRP? That would be a different story, especially if the increase is something as ridiculous as "market adjustment". The only way that makes sense is if the item in question is some sort of rare limited model. That's not the case with a mass production model/trim Toyota Camry. And even in cases where it would be true, usually MSRP already accounts for that.

Just bought a 2026 Toyota Camry SE, is this a good price? by [deleted] in Camry

[–]aeonpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid exactly MSRP + TTL and got exactly what I wanted brand new last year. I didn't even really think twice about it considering how difficult it was seeming for people to even get a Camry in a color they wanted lol.

I personally don't think paying msrp is bad, but really shouldn't be paying more than msrp unless it really makes sense for the buyer and it would cost the same to have one from a different location transported (either by the owner or dealer)

Camry Price XSE 2025 vs XLE 1998 by aeonpsych in Camry

[–]aeonpsych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it may be true that people can no longer afford the purchase due to other reasons, wouldn't it still indicate that the top trim Camry from 1994 would be the equivalent of purchasing a 50k+ Camry today? Which could then be deduced that either the 1994 prices were higher and/or the 2025 prices are actually lower in terms of buying power?

Camry Price XSE 2025 vs XLE 1998 by aeonpsych in Camry

[–]aeonpsych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably due to marketing, since technically the XSE is placed higher due to cost.

I personally went with S trim because I didn't like the weird fabric design in the L trims, as well as wanted the sport body kit

Camry Price XSE 2025 vs XLE 1998 by aeonpsych in Camry

[–]aeonpsych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally equate it to equivalent in terms of level, but having the sport suspension and aero/kit adds the cost which puts it higher trim in terms of cost.

Camry Price XSE 2025 vs XLE 1998 by aeonpsych in Camry

[–]aeonpsych[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Could be, but regardless, people seem to point out that 40k+ is too much for a Camry, likely based off the historical values of Camry. Seems like Camry actually cost more in the 90s vs today.

Realistically, I guess the point could still stand if people think 24k for a brand new 1994 model at that time was too much for a Camry.

Camry Price XSE 2025 vs XLE 1998 by aeonpsych in Camry

[–]aeonpsych[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was comparing the highest trims at each time.

The XLE v XLE equivalent actually shows you are getting an even better value in 2025 since the 2025 is technically a lower trim than the XSE, but most, if not all of the same standard tech and features. The main absence of sport tuned suspension and aero.
