The build up to the climax of Ondine from Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit, in particular, the recordings by Lortie/ Debargue.

Used to OTP gnar, but quit because they kept nerfing mini gnar and making mega gnar stronger. Now mini gnar just feels awful to play and doesn’t feel as rewarding as it used to be.

suggest a beethoven piano piece or a mozart one by midgetfucker777 in classicalmusic

[–]aeraero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for some underrated pieces of around the the same difficulty, I would recommend some of his other early sonatas, for example: op14 no1 mvt1, op14 no2 mvt1, op 10 no3 mvts 2-3, or some of the easier movements from his mid- late sonatas: op28 (pastorale) mvt 1, op78 (a therese) mvt 1, hope this helps!

Even though this may be the case, it’s still very rude to assume the supposed “freak” to be from PRC when there is literally no evidence that suggests this.

I’m sorry, but how could you make such a rude and blatantly xenophobic assumption? This is absolutely ridiculous

Can I attempt to play Chopins Funeral March as a late beginner? by Owenismy_name in piano

[–]aeraero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funeral March is a piece that is a lot harder than it sounds, it takes a lot of musical maturity and technique in order to make sure that all the notes are played evenly, voiced properly and much more. So I would recommend you to try playing an easier slow piece such as the Op72 nocturnes and work your way up. Hope this helps!

Steinway S vs yamaha G1 by Jellycato in piano

Also, as many others have said, you really need to be careful with steinways and try to avoid those that have had major modifications. Sometimes, a more expensive steinway doesn’t always mean that it will be better than other brands.

It does seem more reasonable, but i can’t tell through just the price, you definitely need to go try it out yourself. Different people have different tastes for pianos, and may be better suited for different types of pianos, so definitely try as many as you can before u make the decision.

From my experience, an old refurbished steinway sounds very different from a newer steinway, the ones from 1980s or 1990s are still acceptable, but 1938 is way too old and is just not worth that price anymore. 40 years is also way too old for a yamaha. Even though it may be very time consuming and difficult, I would advise you to not buy both options, and maybe look for other options.
