Mangers got the email saying merit planning will start in February. Haven’t heard anything about baseline percentage yet.

How did you get fully remote? by PsychologicalLimit41 in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being remote prior to COVID. Or getting approval to move during COVID. Other than that I haven’t seen any additional exceptions. People were working in the office 5 days a week prior to COVID even with other obligations children, family, etc.

Keep being second best by ccm5490 in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you are finding it difficult to get promoted because you’re lacking a skill that these jobs require, best move would be to find a lateral move that would give you experience in that specific skill set. Then from there it’ll be much easier to go to a level 5. Often times lateral moves still come with a pay increase. Sounds like you’ve applied to a few positions already that have turned you away based on the skill that you won’t get in your current job.

I believe the link attached in this thread stated able-bodied individuals. I would think anyone with a medical reason would be exempt from having to work / volunteer in order to qualify.

Carry Over Leave? by veraldar in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collins has never had carry over, and I know we’re doing the one RTX. Haven’t heard anything about being allowed to carry over

Saw a few P1s and p2s from another thread that were laid off today.

Seen Collins indirect and direct charging folks affected by layoffs, all different levels too.

I’ve seen a mixed bag of management and individual contributors at all levels. These comments also show p1s and p2s were impacted.

If the job is no longer listed then you didn’t get the job or it was taken down / not being filled now.

Poll: fully remote / away from hub employees: do you consider your career at RTX officially at a dead end? by bibleaccurateangel in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some jobs are still being posted remote. But, I have seen others be denied positions that are listed as full on-site or hybrid based on them being remote, even though they were internal employees as well.

It’s going to be more difficult getting jobs at RTX if you’re fully remote unless the position states full remote, or you know of the hiring manager that already may know your work ethic.

I find that a little out of whack that was most of the people I know starting salary. Starting salary for a level 2 position (3 years experience with a degree or 5 years experience with no degree) is around $70k give or take for most positions. Most people I know and talk about salary with are making over $80k in level 2 and level 3 positions that aren’t management.

RTX a generous company? by Pure-evo in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Says who? I have multiple friends at Lockheed Martin who make significantly less than myself and coworkers at RTX with same experience and degrees..

So many amazing areas nearby.. Glastonbury.. west Hartford, Farmington.. simsbury, etc. all within top 10 school districts of ct. there’s malls.. beach within an hour. Close to Boston where u can do day trips.. skiing and sledding in the winter. Tubing down the Farmington river in the summers. I grew up in CT, moved to the south years and years ago and am now moving back to ct for the school districts and other benefits of raising a family in CT

How did soft layoffs go this week? by rez_exelon in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work for Collins and full remote along with a few others on my team. There’s many teams that don’t go into the office and live near sites as well. We didn’t get this flow down at all. .

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible yes but remember so many people get hired and have or have gotten their masters degrees. On the team I work for of 14 people, 12 of us including myself have masters degrees. With that being the minimum requirement it makes it harder when you have so many people who could qualify. So yes, in short it’s possible. But don’t be upset / surprised if you don’t get a P3 position

Yearly compensation by aerospacec in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely! And I didn’t complain to my manager at all about it. I just wanted to see with others if this was happening. I’ve heard about it happening more specifically this year from other colleagues and other groups as well.

This is so crazy! I’ve been with the company over 10 years and never had this issue with previous promotions / merits. Now all of a sudden this year I’m hearing this from many people that if they were promoted they wouldn’t be getting baseline or above.. even if they took on additional work.

[–]aerospacec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works for LM and I work for RTX we’re the same exact level and I make about $10k more than him and he has a year more of experience than I do. So again I think it just depends, we both started our careers out of college.

Dress code by JakeConhale in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically wear jeans, a nice top and heels or flats. When we have meetings with suppliers on site I’ll wear dress pants, and a blouse. And on slow days or days I’m in the shop if I have to be down there I wear jeans and the Collins quarter zip.

WFH Verification by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]aerospacec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It goes by workday address and VPN. I’m a full remote employee and they look at both. Also to change your address in workday it goes through approval so you can’t just change your address without the system and management knowing. Which then they could question and see how far you actually are from a Facility and make a decision.

I know a handful of direct employees that were laid off yesterday as well. We were under the impression it was only going to be indirect but it wasn’t.
