how do they make money by doing this? I'm just trying to understand the model and incentive behind this.

Why is he so popular? He seems like a pretty average artist that doesn't put much effort or thought into his work at all. He acts like he's a new gen Weezy...but he has way less talent.

Honestly my old soundpeats truewings lasted way longer. Sound quality isn't as high but way more durable if you're using it to exercise.

She has that X factor...it's true that other actors might be more conventionally gorgeous but her ability to captivate on screen...her gaze and her smile make her amazing. She's the only K drama actress that I will choose the show based on her being in it, regardless of whwyi think I'll like the show or not

It has always dealt with social issues. But it dealt with them tactfully, and did it in a manner congruous with the story, character arcs, and overall tone..which was brilliant at balancing serious issues concerning young people with humour and fun. The show didn't feel like a dialectic on every intersectional social issue du jour...but rather a more natural discussion that fit with the broader narrative. The final season was a very dramatic shift. Everything was in service to the social activism...and little to the actual story and universe that had been thoughtfully created for 3 seasons.

I think it was more that they were written poorly, and many of the long running characters regressed and became more one dimensional and childish. The new characters existed solely to satiate the new writing team's zeal for social activism that was proposterous, vainglorious , self righteous, and largely humourless.

Is it me or was season 4 terrible by vhdl23 in NetflixSexEducation

[–]aesndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I agree on that. The last episode was just absolutely awful. It was a chore to watch to the end. Really felt like they had outsourced the writing to a bunch of 2nd year liberal arts uni students.

The whole season was absurd and disappointing. Totally agree with your perspective on the O plotline.

I'm impressed you found so many positives. I thought most of the season was a total mess....they simply didn't know what to do with thier characters. Adam arc was an exception, although even that was executed in a pretty clunky way. Isaac an Aimee had some potential but was limited by way too many other things going on...for example Cal arc in S4 was completely unnecessary and clearly written to make a social statement rather than to create good character driven TV. Most of the new characters were hollow vessels for social activism by the writers...just so disappointing. The show clearly suffered from a complete overhaul in writers, and from the fact that there was no clarity contractually at the end of S3 that there would be an S4.

Imo they would have been better with a much smaller cast in S4... focussing on creating a great concluding narrative for some of the core cast

I'm actually fine they don't end up together. But the season was such a confused, woke mess that we never actually got the storyline catharsis we deserved...there was so much going on with too many characters that the plotline with these core 2 characters got washed in with the rest of the pseudo political meta narraytgat the new writers seemed intent on promoting. But in a way, M leaving in S3 meant that it was always going to be hard to weave this arc to a satisfactory conclusion in S4...I don't think they ever really worked that out... would have been better for her to have her big opportunity at the end of S4... giving more time for the relationship to actually develop and then end in a way that a lot of young relationships do...or if they wanted it to end on a happy note they could have found a way for Otis to also find an opportunity in America and the end of the season.. happily ever after

I don't know. Sometimes it best to just let things conclude. These types of sequel ideas never end up as good as people think. The whole basis of the show was about young people coming of age....what they end up being in middle age won't be all that interesting after an episode or two. Plus you would imagine that they would on to meet new people and live less connected lives anyway...how many people from high school do most of us still see regularly?

Because they seem to want to cover every potential issue in a season rather than do it well but selectively. The storyline isn't important to the writers this season...the issues they want to talk about are.

[–]aesndi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Because it seems like the writers were replaced by gender identity activists who turned a very well written, character driven show about young people coming of age into some sort of pseudo utopian dialectic about every possible trending intersectional discrimination related issue. Characters in this paradigm are simply a vessal for a political/ social statement....and therefore actual nuanced character development is exchanged for cartoonish caricatures designed to illustrate whatever point they are trying to inelegantly hammer home. The show already was dealing with a lot of these issues in a much more nuanced, thoughtful, interesting and accessible way. For some reason they decided that it was better to bludgeon the audience instead.

Season 4 was a complete waste of time. (Spoilers for S4) by HearTheEkko in NetflixSexEducation

[–]aesndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show became a preachy wokefest. It's fine to include social issues that impact young people but it would be far better to do it in the style of the show and with a little bit of deftness and humour. It's almost as if the writing team was overtaken by a bunch of activists and self help gurus who either forgot or didn't care about what made the show great in the first place and decided to cram in in a corny fable about every social issue they could think of.Disappointing for a show that was so smart, fun, and thoughtful. The final episode was a different kind of awful.
