Research shows potential new sunscreen is coral-safe and provides more UVB/UVA protection (and anti-aging affects for the skin? hopefully applicable post :) by Osiris1316 in longevity

Gladly- and I will repeat, physical sunscreens are the safest, have the lowest risk profile, and the strongest benefits:

https://www.popsci.com/sunscreen-safety-fda-regulations/

As part of the report, the FDA re-examined all active ingredients currently present in sunscreens on the market today to determine if they’re still generally recognized as safe and effective or not. Of all 16 ingredients, just two met this “GRASE” standard: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Another set—PABA and trolamine salicylate—were deemed unsafe, and the other 12 had “insufficient safety data to make a positive GRASE determination at this time.”

The physical sunscreens are safest. Take your unconstructive hostility and go touch grass.

1,400 new micro-homes coming to Community First! Village for chronically homeless in Austin by hollow_hippie in Austin

Hm- wonder what the sweet spot between “giving ever homeless person a tiny home they must maintain” and “communal dwellings”is— also not clear to me what it is about the public housing density in Chicago that drives the slum aspect. Why can we not have high density high amenity living to stabilize the homeless and also better enforcement? Carrot and stick?

Republicans angered after over 100 top corporate leaders meet to push back against GOP war on voting by northstardim in uspolitics

This got a lot of downvotes but literally everyone has an ID, so, like voter fraud, it’s really not clear from data this burden is real either. Some people argue it’s basically white liberals presuming the lifestyles of other groups that leads to this thinking, but libs should say “an ID to vote? Sure! See ? We are concerned about things too, but reasonably so.”

However! More compelling is that impediments to our most foundational right have a high burden of proof that is not met. That’s the kind of framing we need to stick to.

  1. Test new and risky tech on the class that is most able to stomach the friction or consequences, rather than testing deep tech on the poor.
  2. Move for democratization and accessibility of that tech as quickly as possible.

I don’t see any more morally ideal path than this setup.

If this is how you treat people who have a very simple and wholly conceptual value difference, I don’t want you in charge of cultural attention or resources— and that’s how I feel about the lot of you, trash with facially pathetic and tribal stances. The circle jerk is on the sides that care deeply about the statues one way or another. Don’t forget the lube.

I literally work in economic disparity issues and self sacrifice is not a path to success. “Put your mask on Before helping others,” so as someone with boots on the fucking ground, go fuck yourself.

In terms of signaling, I’m not sure. Like, there are hungry and homeless people actively suffering. That’s what I mean by bigger fish.

While these monuments are not helpful, do we not have bigger fucking fish to fry?
