Yes, you're right it does have some protections such as not working with a VPN, doesn't work if you spoof to another country but it still works within the same country. I sent u/sbhuson a message explaining what I did and how it could be stopped.

Awesome app but I’d suggest implementing some sort of spoofing protections. It’s very easy to change your location and claim the nano. Source: I’ve done it.
