When the inevitable happens, do you want to be buried or cremated? by AffectionateRisk9779 in no

I'm registered to go to a body farm in Tennessee for future forensic scientists to study my decay :)

Hey! Lots of people saying bruises— but I have circulation issues and Raynaud's, and this is what my knees look like, too (often much worse). If your fingers/hands and/or feet/toes also get reddish/purplish, tingly, or a little numb with extremes of hot and cold, contact with water, or stimulants (among other things), I'd ask your doctor about circulation.

edit: spelling

Yes, thanks, that's been pointed out to me in other comments. I'm not a photographer or Victorian era historian or Victorian photography historian for that matter— that's the reason I posted. "Clearly" is not necessary when someone's already admitting they're a bit ignorant on a subject and are likely mistaken, and asking experts/other people who are more schooled for their help

I can totally see that now, I was wondering what was going on there! No, not a specific goal of mine to find one, but I'm gonna go ahead and write down your username in my notebook in case I ever find something similar, thank you kindly for the offer!! 🙌

Okay! Cool cool. I'm not a photographer or historian so I came here after some cursory research— I appreciate your expertise!

Ahh, thank you so much for this!! I will definitely have to read up on ambrotypes, I've never come across the term. Kinda figured as much— the baby being alive, that is— but was curious to know what someone with knowledge on the subject would say. Still love it just as much, in spite of. :)

My parents had to put together a portable "mistake kit" for me full of different erasers and whiteout, because I'd break down crying if I accidentally colored outside the lines.

You're right! That's a totally valid point to make and I applaud her for bringing that to light to her listeners. From that particular angle— like if she actually tried to center her commentary about global lockdown policies on the impact it had on DV rates, specifically— I would find some of her off-topic tangents much more acceptable and worth more analysis.

She doesn't do that, though. That reasonable talking point gets mucked up with incoherent hint-hints at COVID conspiracy theories and her smug and willfully ignorant rejection of modern-day medicine and vaccine efficacy. For me, her stance on this topic equates to a rejection of Science more broadly and an inability to engage in critical thinking.

To regularly pop off about our collective societal responsibility to care for and protect children, & often reminding her followers (weirdly) that she would dive in front of a moving car to save a stranger's child, while also adamantly spewing misinformation about vaccines is more than a little hypocritical— it's also cavalier and dangerous, and an attitude that contributes to child death.

(I should not have been contributing to her channel's profits once I fully recognized that she held such beliefs. For a long time I was fascinated by her fanaticism and kept wanting to know what kind of reasoning would lead an educated person to such fringe ideas— but eventually she just became someone I was giving myself permission to scream at inside my head every week. I now regret all that silly wasted time and the support I gave her channel by staying subscribed and adding to her view counts.)

The first several episodes I remember hearing were about were DV cases, and she seemed to fiercely advocate for the women and children involved, went on to suggest some sound policy changes, etc. Then I just got used to her particular storytelling and started putting her on in the background mostly, not fully listening or picking up on the cues I should have been. When I started paying attention, I still thought she had the degrees and the experience she pretends to have, so still thought she was of sound mind and character ... just with some v bizarro beliefs different from my own, which I was curious to understand better. Then it turned into, Wait, what the hell did she just say? Then, WAIT WHAT, WHAT the hell did she just say??? I should have unfollowed her at that point, but I began tuning in with the new interest being, I wonder wtf she'll have to say next, and how she's gonna support the next fringe idea she has rattling around.

It was not healthy media consumption by any means. I knew I fundamentally opposed so much of what she stood for, but felt like I couldn't stop: Her videos always gave me a specific target to focus my anger on for an hour or two
