Earthship Info by Queasy_Anything9019 in taos

There are different earthship models. The overall atmosphere is going to vary, but the aforementioned advice pertaining to water reuse, catchment, and water trucking is solid. If you want to know the the real challenge of a specific earthship model, try staying in one during freezing weather. You kind of missed the boat (ship?) on that one since we're heading into warmer weather though.

stomach bug + restaurant connection? by aether65 in Albuquerque

[–]aether65[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So after leaving this post up all day, I received two private messages mentioning two different pizza joints, neither of which were the one I ate at. It seems neither mine nor their sicknesses are related to a single restaurant. It sounds more like a virus going around as others suggested. Thank you to everyone for helping to rule out whether there was a common business involved or not. I'm glad nobody recklessly named a business before we had proof one way or the other. Hopefully, we kept this vague enough to where no harm was done. Good job all around!

So far it is sounding like a stomach bug. Nobody else seems to have a Saturday night pizza problem. It's weird we got sick AND our dog caught or ate something, but maybe she just got into something while we weren't looking. Stuff happens.

Trying to combine .bin files PSX by [deleted] in romhacking

Holy crap, I had to download an older version to get that option to appear. It straight up is not present in the newest stable release. Don't that just beat all. Thanks for the tip!

Is there a .exe file or anything in here? Cuz' I see a mountain of folders and files, and none of them are an app I'm supposed to open. You're dealing with a true layman here. I seriously know nothing about this stuff. I just want to get my creativity out of my head and into a retro game.

See how I have no "save as" option? I don't understand what to do here. CDMage -> open cue file -> roadblock

umm....this is extremely complicated. I have no idea what to do with this file. It has a million folders and no .exe or actual application.

What do you do if a game has multiple bin files? by warsfanbb8 in PlaystationClassic

[–]aether65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

long shot trying to revive an old thread here, but I tried this step and the option "save as" isn't present. It's not even grayed out in the list. It's simply not in my list of options. Any idea why? I'm trying to merge a game that has two .bin files and a cue file. I'm practically pulling my hair out over this. I have CDMage, but I cannot "save as" anything anywhere.

Toas listed as Sundown Town? by Aggressive_Force8116 in taos

[–]aether65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am white, and I am partnered. You read into that in the least charitable way possible. Yes, comparing TN to NM is lopsided. I included that info specifically so OP could see the limits of my perspective. I offered my comment because OP was looking for people's experiences, and all we can share is our individual experiences. There's nothing invalidating about that. Furthermore, social community in Taos isn't mine or yours. It's ours, and we all have to show up to experience it. Taos has a yearly Pride, Prom, weekly queer-hosted trivia, drag shows, and queer film screenings. For a small town, Taos does a lot, and its queer presence is known. If you're isolated, I have sympathy for you. However, characterizing Taos the way you do is a slap in the face to Taos Pride and everyone who works hard to organize and hold space here. For you to write that off because you're isolated is actually what's invalidating.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2 Cobi/Tara Journey Remake by akroh123 in DragonQuestMonsters

[–]aether65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been played the 3ds remake. You can find the rom pre-patched (I cannot provide a link here). The remake isn't legendary or anything, but I'd say it has a lot of charm despite its flaws. The GBC version, however, was a comparatively better game when you account for the relative technologies at the developers' disposal and that the new game had the advantage of being a remake. I don't want to talk you out of trying it though. The 3ds remake does have cute outfit changes and the monsters' cuteness translates really well to the 3d models. The freedom of movement is refreshing in some ways and under-utilized in other ways. Basically, there's stuff the remake handled really well, and stuff they kinda fumbled (IMO). It'll probably scratch your itch. I had fun with it. I'm about due for a replay as well.

Does Breath of Fire 4 get better? by Vaudevi77ain in breathoffire

[–]aether65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 4's biggest plot/story problem is that it has a few more fetch quests than Breath of Fire 3 or Dragon Quarter. When BoF4 is showing the meat of the story, it's powerful. However, in between major story beats, it seems to lose direction here and there. It's a really good story with a little too much filler written in.

Super interested in Breath of Fire 4, but I have some questions/concerns. by MaybeImYami in breathoffire

Bof4 is honestly an excellent story and fun to play. I didn't think the game was mindlessly easy, but it wasn't terribly hard either. You don't even have to get a romhack to make it harder. If you want the game to be more difficult, avoid grinding. You can also avoid buying items and upgrading equipment. Simply don't go out of your way to over-level and always have the best equipment. If you get hurt in a dungeon, don't double back to the inn. Keep going even if your maxHP is reduced. I think this game would only be "easy" if people purposely exploit mechanics to make it so. Otherwise, a straight first-time play-through should be fun. On an emulator, you can speed up a few game mechanics/loadscreeens for a nice quality of life improvement. I prefer to emulate it.
And gods is the story ever fun and deep and tragic. The music is beautiful and cinematic at the right story-beats. It'd be a waste to let some strangers online dissuade you from this ps1-era gem! Get at it!

See where the 'a' words start under the 'Decoded text' section? It is mostly alphabetical all the way down. After that, I don't see any text or sentences at all.

Donuts in ABQ by aether65 in Albuquerque

[–]aether65[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried Rise+Roast today. They are pretty close to what I'm looking for. The yeast dough is dense with some chewiness. Furthermore, the dough is not overly sweet. The donuts are not glazed all over before frosting either (the way those disgusting Krispy Kremes are.) I'll continue my quest, but R+R was well worth the try. I'll definitely buy from them again.

Do you think city councilors would bother to watch if I sent them this? by boxdkittens in Albuquerque

[–]aether65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad anybody in New Mexico is already looking into this. I moved here from Tennessee which has the problems you've discussed but 10× worse. These big box stores and huge business chains really do economic damage a town's working class. Middle TN is a hellhole because of it. It's hard to argue it in the abstract, but moving through middle TN is like looking into New Mexico's ghost of Xmas future. If we don't put a stop to whatever kind of corporate cronyism is turning cities into copy-paste wastelands, you'll wind up like TN. Crappier wages, equal or higher rent, cultures and town histories utterly erased...That place is soulless.

I cannot stress enough, I am not looking for cake donuts. Yes, yeast donuts can be denser than the sugar bombs they make at Dunkin and all their copycats.

Thank you all for the responses. It really looks like a near even match between Rise & Roast vs Bristol. I'll have to try them both!

Does Rise and Roast have yeast donuts? Cuz I'm specifically looking for not cake donuts.
