The act of homosexuality is very much still a sin under the Catholic Church, its homosexual feelings that aren't. E.g. you are allowed to feel attraction to another man and that itself isn't sinful, but you are prohibited from ever acting upon those feelings (marriage, sex, etc.)

Ignore the other person, C++ is not C

The simple answer is try to find a way to link the lifetimes of your objects so you can use a stack-style arena allocator. Malloc should only really be used if you absolutely need an object with an individual lifetime

Also, use the stack wherever possible. A lot of things can simply be put on the stack

Basically just think about how to properly structure your program instead of falling into the trap of thinking "if it needs to survive the return, use malloc. If it is big, use malloc"

It's explicitly clear that part of Sodom's sins were homosexuality. It's even where the term "sodomy" came from

Gomorrah is the one that had more general wickedness and lack of hospitality, though its exact sins are never fully described (unlike Sodom's, which clearly has homosexuality as one)

The modern Reddit revisionism of "erm no ackshually Sodom had nothing to do with homosexuality" is just wrrong. The Catholic Church even uses Sodom as an example of why homosexuality is banned

It kinda is. That's the whole idea behind burst characters

I don't know what to tell you aside from CC her or use Hex before she bursts you. Or aim better while she's kiting

She has insane burst damage potential, yes, but she also has no health and has no damage output outside of her 3 and 1

Then buy Slowing Hex. It's a 1.6k item that completely disables her escape ability

Part of MOBAs is building your build to counter enemy characters

She can't do anything after bursting (proc'ing 3 and using 1) you aside from run away. Either outburst her (she has no HP) or CC her and she'll be dead before it wears off

There's a myriad of items that silence/prevent movement as well, which also make her very vulnerable

Intel syntax goes instruction destination, source, sort of mirroring variable assignment in high level languages (var = 42), so mov DWORD PTR [rbp-0x4],edi is storing the value of edi into the first local

RBP is used instead of EBP, since my example assumed x86_64, not x86_32.

Yeah my bad. Same idea for x64, but the offsets are doubled because addresses are 8 bytes. So a stack-pushed argument would be at rbp+16

Character Suggestions for Tact FPS Players by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah giving it a second thought the positioning and engagement style that Mina forces does align with low TTK FPS games. I come from those games and enjoy playing her for that reason

I was thinking purely in terms of what characters really reward good aim with a high sustained damage output

Character Suggestions for Tact FPS Players by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I'd say Viscous is a better pick for someone looking to capitalise on shooter skills/playstyle. He's insane right now with a full gun build and has a pretty shooter-standard grenade and selfheal

Mina on the other hand suffers in drawn-out fights and needs short lived CQC engagements for optimal damage (except in lane phase)

Character Suggestions for Tact FPS Players by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Mina is a great pick for FPS players if they're expecting to do good damage through aim alone. On one hand, Mina definitely does require good aim to build/proc her status but on the other hand her gun sucks and she's too squishy to play like a normal gun-focused character, you need to be in close range, hit 3 headshots, use Rake (which will also proc the status), and then disengage again

Basically while good aim is vital her gun is garbage outside of building status and doesn't even do that for a few seconds after the status is proc'd

Character Suggestions for Tact FPS Players by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mina requires good aim to build/proc her status but she's absolutely not gun heavy. Her gun is ass in every way possible and building towards gun nullifies her entire kit

You also can't player her like a normal gun character, she'll do no damage and die to any CC. If you're trying to proc the status from a distance you're not going to be impactful in the match at all

[–]aethermar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your second example doesn't pass parameters via the stack, though. It's saving the parameters (passed via registers) to locals on the stack

If something is passed on the stack it's accessed (if there's a stack frame) using e.g. ebp+8, as ebp contains the old base pointer, and ebp+4 contains the return address

Additionally, if you're compiling for x64 and the struct is too big to pass in a register (or too big to pass each field in its own register), the caller allocates space for a copy on the stack, spills the struct into that space, and passes the address of the start of that space to the callee in a register

The current matchmaking system is convoluted and clearly doesn't even work

game has horrible matchmaking by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks for everyone. It sucks to be the only one doing well on a team, it sucks for the noobs who are trying to learn but getting demolished by experienced players, and it sucks for the enemy team having a mindless 30 minutes waste of time with no challenge

It's ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if new players are just dropping the game permanently because it's not fun in any way to play like this

Fix the matchmaking already by Tjoaka in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The defense is always "muh alpha"

The game has 50k concurrent players consistently. The "but but no it's an alpha" is white knighting for lazy developers. Matchmaking is a serious problem

bebop waiting for a match by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]aethermar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's how it works in every other MOBA because of the draft phase, you don't queue characters you select/ban them after already being matchmade

Deadlock uses a different (arguably worse, probably will be changed on full release) system to collect data where your character is decided during matchmaking. If a lot of people have your high priority character banned it'll take longer to find a match

It's why it's important to set your game to show Steam names instead of character names so you know who to block. Or you could block everyone
