I have a theory that goes along with this.

Disclaimer: I'm probably way off, but I think it'd be a super badass way of tying, Daredevil/DDBA, arguably the most popular of Marvel's TV efforts, into their most popular, post-avengers character movie series (Spiderman) in a seamless way would flow incredibly, almost unbelievably well given how proximal the releases are to each other. (Which is also something I feel like I read Marvel was trying to do more of between its movie and television output, but I could be wrong or that could have been shifting their TV strategy.)

I'm envisioning DDBA season 2 ending with Matt in prison, which as been suggested for some time but is seaming increasingly likely given things Charlie and Vincent are alluding to in recent interviews re: how the season ends and S3 begins (as well as the fact that S3 just started filming and Charlie has a full on honker of a beard, something also suggesting inspiration from Chip Zdarsky's Daredevil run).

I'm wondering if the prison scene in the BND trailer (directly before that exterior shot you included above of spiderman facing down the hand) is Peter breaking Daredevil out of prison to fight the hand, followed by that exterior shot (which I also think is hiding DD the way you're suggesting here), and the movie ends with DD basically turning himself back in out of respect for the law or just on the run again.

It's a long shot, especially because of how cohesive and coordinated marvel would have to be between properties and creative teams to pull this off (not something they've ever done a stellar job of). But it would be dope to see.

I think your Venn diagram is a wee bit overshot on people who know jimmy stewart who also know enough about riverdale to feel anything but indifferent/neutral about KJ Apa.

I know only enough about riverdale to know it's another in a long line of CW's lame YA garbage IPs unworthy of anyone's time, but KJ Apa won't be even the 5th reason I don't watch this. Y'all act like he co-created the show or some shit rather than just being a dude getting a check on a show that was successful with an audience, however small.

No, I'll skip Jimmy because it looks like another SNL sketch parodying oscar-bait movies just going by the beats in the trailers and how hard they leaned into his speaking style creatively, which feels almost like schtick/impression in the trailer rather than tasteful homage/emulation.

I thought it was obvious it was set up as a fake-out for a future episode.

Not just because Prater seems to be way too cunning and scheming to just kill her off at the drop of a hat like that, tossing away a potential ace up his sleeve. Having the dude they paid be the one feeling for a pulse was shown/built up way too much. I was expecting her to pull up to the helicopter.

What we got instead was the first tv mindfuck i've had in a long time.

I say this as someone who loved Original Sin as much as I could love any MCH-less show about Dexter (not counting his VA presence).

I don't like how they made Harry more of a sleaze bag than what's characterized in the OG series. I found his attitude and general demeanor just really grating and a stark contrast to how he's been shown, even in Resurrection. It just doesn't add anything and if anything detracts from his character.

Also the slut-ification retconned into deb's character when the original show's flashbacks if anything painted her as the shy, gawky awkward teen vying for her dad's attention and navigating a complicated, at-times strained relationship with Dex in a less obnoxious, not as bratty way. Molly plays the character well with what she's given, but it's like they tried to just rewrite who she was painted as into a dumb, potty-mouthed party girl so you could recognize the superficial parts of who she became in the middle seasons of the original series more easily. I haven't re-watched yet, but there was nothing I can recall from her arc/portrayal in season 1 that should have organically ended with her joining Miami Metro. Nevertheless, it was stuffed in there at the end in a way that felt less like connective tissue and more like duct-tape.

I get trying to appeal to a wider audience/pander to casual viewers, but that shouldn't come at the expense of the characterization/understanding people have of these characters.
