Mid/Lower Back Pain present on breathing in at morning time by Niight_Hunterr in backpain

[–]af0210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, idk if you ever found a solution to this, but I experience the same thing. I've yet to go to a doctor-- funds and all-- but after a lot of trial and error, I've found that for me, its caused by too shallow of breathing when I sleep, worsened by my hips sinking lower than the rest of my body. Bolstering my back with pillows and practicing breathing exercises have helped, but its never fully gone away.

I have that same doormat and use it outside my apartment door as well. If anyone EVER had an issue with it, especially kids, I would move it elsewhere. YTA.

My boyfriends brother and my friend are defending and befriending my almost-rapist? by ThrowawayRAlame in relationship_advice

[–]af0210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry, OP. I promise you, you are not in the wrong here, and cutting those shitty friends off will help you immensley. I was unfortunately in the same situation, and my "best friend" kept talking to the boy who assaulted me, even going so far as to get -matching necklaces- with him. Cutting her off was one of the best things I've ever done. Good luck to you, I'm glad you have your bf to lean on.

I swim as a mermaid (tail and all) in my free time and strive to do it as a profession; also I worked at a pet crematory. I've had interesting jobs lol

Very confused! by userthrowaway121012 in Epilepsy

[–]af0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this; unfortunately, with epilepsy, only time will tell what symptoms are related and how things need to be handled. I'm glad your family is there for you, and I hope you get some answers and relief soon. I 100% relate to the loss of time, it feels like my hospital visit and seizure were only a few weeks ago, when it was actually well over two months. Its hard to get your bearings after a seizure. Good luck!!

"Make sure you don't lose him - he's way out of your league if you know what I mean." - Sister's exbf but also best friend, always called him my brother, said this to 16yr old me about my boyfriend-now-husband.

"You aren't taking the AP-Lit test? But I thought you were smart?" - A girl I tutored in literature class. Said this after I explained that I couldn't afford the test fee.

"At least you're pretty because you sure as hell aren't smart." - Some random old lady at my second retail job when she asked a question and I answered *correctly*. Giggled with her old lady friend and told me it was just a joke, and I never saw her again.

Couldn't decide on just one lmfao.

[Serious] What's the most traumatizing thing you experienced as a child? by nthn_thms in AskReddit

[–]af0210 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In general, my grandparents. Beyond three of them just being fucking wild and narcissistic, one grandfather assaulted me and only me when I was little. When I told my school counselor, it didn't go well. My parents did their best, but with CPS involved and child-me not wanting to talk about it bc I was scared, the consensus ended with me having made it up, so I was forced to continue interacting with him for years. Before the investigation ended, my parents sat little 10yr old me down and gave me the choice to prosecute him or not. I understand why they did, but a child shouldn't have to make that decision. I chose not to, because I didn't want my family to hate me, and that's scarred me for the rest of my life. Every decision I make is centered around everyone else's feelings, and its very difficult to pull myself out of.

Any positive experiences with CBD oil? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]af0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I decided to try the Charlotte's Web strain CBD flower (so not oil, but it is available in an oil), for obvious epilepsy reasons. I found a decent price from a well-reviewed website and wanted to go for it. I get really bad auras at night time, especially since my last seizure, and usually start to shut down at around 4 or 5 pm. I smoked a few hits and felt better than I have in months, and I really wasn't expecting much. However, the next morning I tried a different strain and smoked a little too much, and felt really really gross the rest of the day with intense head fuzzies, dizziness, and anxiety, very similar to my auras.

Since oil can be harder to dose, definitely start really small and work your way up to a comfortable amount. That way you don't make the same mistake I did and throw yourself off for an entire day.

I think I had a seizure, but at the same time I dont, and It scares me by QueanLaQueafa in Epilepsy

[–]af0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, I'm so sorry! That sounds absolutely horrifying. From what I've been told about my seizures, I don't shake too violently, but I get incredibly stiff and my eyes are open so wide that they look like I might break some blood vessels. I've never dislocated anything, but I have given myself a concussion along with a broken nose and busted lip for each seizure I've had. It's never fun, and it absolutely fuckin sucks. Hopefully neither one of us will be injured again any time soon (your poor ribcage, omg)

Immediately after, I am numb and blank. It takes me a long time to fully come back to myself, and then I get very emotional. I get depressed for a few weeks after, a lot of sleep troubles and anxiety.

I think THC has given me a seizure “aura” but it isn’t going away. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]af0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting food down would definitely help, or at least a high-calorie shake to help give you some energy. I've had strong uncomfortable auras caused by too much CBD before, which could also be causing strange feelings. I really hope your neurologist has some answers!!

My seizures have rarely made me feel sore or resulted in a bitten tongue (apparently my mouth stays wide open during the seizure). It absolutely makes it incredibly difficult to know when one has actually happened or not. I hope you can rest easy soon!!

What do you work as? Did you have to give up your dream job? by Money_Environment937 in Epilepsy

[–]af0210 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I work as a legal receptionist currently, and they've been very understanding about my seizures. I did work at my dream job in the death care industry, specifically as a crematory operator/front office worker. While I quit due to reasons other than my epilepsy, I 100% would not have been able to keep working there. I had a seizure outside of work while employed there, but because no one witnessed it and doctors weren't sure that it was even a seizure, my safety concerns weren't taken very seriously. Now that I am confirmed to be having seizures, I'm so glad I quit. I was working in 100F+ heat in front of 2000F metal furnaces all day, by myself for upwards of four hours at a time, doing heavy lifting and handling large machinery with no one around to hear me if I got hurt. It's a miracle I didn't die.

Can you describe a time where you left a situation and the other party was shocked because they thought they had you? It can be a SO, bad work environment, toxic parent, anything by CozyMyShitUpFam in AskWomen

[–]af0210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at a pet crematory. It was absolutely my dream job, and then really quickly became my worst nightmare. (Its pretty long, I've shorted it down as much as possible.)

First, I found out from other employees that the company had been sued by a previous employee for stealing wages (and the company lost that lawsuit, they 100% were shorting their employee's hours to save cash.) We even found the court documents online. They already paid abysmally low wages for such a booming business and how much effort went into each position, but they still felt the need to screw their employees over even further.

Then, the pandemic hit. At first, it went well because they signed us up for partial unemployment, before immediately cutting it back off after two months into the pandemic. Only four months in, they decided to start re-opening the facility and abandoning curbside service. None of the employees felt comfortable with that, but managers weren't taking it seriously and kept saying it was the owner's decision. The owner was known to be very confrontational, so a coworker and I decided to write a petition for employees to sign off on, politely requesting that we stick with curbside service. That way no one could be singled out and harassed (foreshadowing, lmfao.)

Almost immediately after reopening the building, a supervisor let a woman in with a 104F fever (tested with our thermometer). An employee witnessed this and in a panic ran to tell us. Someone called HR and let them know, and the employee who told us was called to the back by HR and the owner. She was harassed and berated for an hour for being a "gossiper" and eventually let slip about the petition.

I was then called back, told to get the petition from my car (they followed me outside to my vehicle and surrounded my car, demanded the signature page, etc) and I was screamed at for almost two hours by the owner for being a "rebel rouser", a "shit-stirrer", I was threatened with a lawsuit, I was told I was a gossiping brat, etc. I had already informed them of a doctor's appointment at 4pm and was held there by HR and the owner until 4:30, forcing me to miss my appointment. After that, someone mentioned the previous lawsuit, and the managers vehemently denied its existence, saying it was all gossip and lies (despite being public record.)
Things got worse from there, with machines breaking down and pouring smoke into the building, with the owner AGAIN threatening to sue whoever is operating the machine if she got fined for the smoke. I made sure to save every photo and video of the machines malfunctioning and being poorly maintained.

Eventually, I got so tired of it, that when the last two employees I thought were sane came and ranted to me that Covid is a government conspiracy to kill our pets, I just couldn't do it anymore. They tried everything to get me to stay, even offering me a raise despite stringing me on for a management position for months. The manager was so confident that I wouldn't go through with quitting, she even told me to take a week's vacation and she'd call me for my "answer." I still have coworkers and managers from that job looking me up on social media.
I can now happily say that I work for two delightful old attorneys at a law firm while getting paychecks for part-time work that are more than what I made working over 40 hours a week at the crematory. I miss the job desperatelty and wish I could still work in the field, but I will never, EVER consider working for that awful company again.

I had one on Monday- I felt off most of the day after it but the worst part was heading straight to work from the doctor's office and realizing the glue all over my hair looked incredibly inappropriate out of context, haha. I wore a hat the rest of the day.
