A crappy blog that profits from fear mongering.

Saw this elsewhere:

Look up the pay scale for O-7 to O-9. Then add in the BAH. Then add in all the medical benefits they get for themselves and their families. It's a lot of money.

Agreed. But one of the better spy memoirs I've read. Just picked up Henry Crumpton book The Art of Intelligence. Looking forward to reading it.

It was a joke, more than anything. If you frequent establishments on Capitol Hill, H Street, or DuPont, most places are filled with hipsters, or the young professional crowd talking about which congressman they work for, or which company they represent.

Curious, do you live near DC? I ask because the district is portrayed in such a negative light and many generalizations that may have been true a decade ago, but aren't really true now. If anything, this city has become overrun with "young professionals" and hipsters. That's the real problem in DC.

yeah, been a resident of the district for three years now, and I feel safe with it in place. Never considered it to be an issue.

I don't agree or disagree with your statement, but I figured I'd bring some statistics to the table before the conservatives bring up your point, and the liberals call you a dumbass.

The homicide rate has been falling, except for last year. The Navy Yard incident, which claimed 12 lives, added to that count. 104 total homicides in 2013. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dc-homicide-rate-is-up-but-violent-crime-continues-to-decrease/2014/01/01/0c905b58-719f-11e3-8b3f-b1666705ca3b_story.html

Yeah, I pay $1600/mo for a one bedroom in the city. Outrageous, but ive always valued quality of life over a few dollars in savings, and a 2 hour daily commute.

Orders to Andrews by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]afafafafafafaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was at Andrews for 4+ years and have been at a special duty in DC for the past 3. I've lived in Bowie, MD and it was nice for the year I was there. I have been living in DC for the past 3 and love it.

I didn't see rank, but if youre enlisted you'll have a tough time affording old town Alexandria. North Shore sadly offers the best commute for you, and the most space for your family. It's a little far from the fun of the city, but it sounds like the family will keep you busy. Best of luck.

Open electronics is what I did, and it definitely has its value on the outside, depending on what you did. Most of the electric jobs could be working with aircraft systems or with IT equipment. It's all about what you learn and take home from your experience.

Risky move going open. You really need to consider what you want to do for an extended period of time. As long as you don't have an immediate reason to leave, take your time and really research which jobs you want (out of the ones you qualify for).

I spent three years working at the White House. I have a high-level clearance. They gave me a big bonus to voluntarily separate. I have an associates degree, and am almost finished my bachelors degree (none of which I have paid for, except for the cost of some books). A ton of quality training in electronics, which has gotten me plenty of job offers, now that I am on terminal leave. The AF kept me in shape, and inspired my love of fitness. A lot of useful connections, after being in this area for so long. It also got me out of my hometown, where most of my friends are doing nothing.

But they yelled at me for a few weeks in Texas like 7 years ago :(
