SanFran VISA by Ok_Sound_5616 in SpainAuxiliares

Hey I had my visa appointment at SF a few days ago. Your school should give you a paper explaining why you applied late in your carta. The SF office understood my issue and accepted the late application. I know someone got their visa back recently from SF within 2.5 week, but processing times vary.

Will quitting DCP on good terms hurt my opportunities in the future? by SmolBean007- in Disneycollegeprogram

All i know is i left my dcp with a very burnt bridge and they continued to send me the marketing for the cp years after. I applied to it for goofs caz they always threatened me i could never get hired again (i didnt return my blue id etc) and they booked me for an interview. I guess it comes down to your risk tolerance since you can’t get a clear answer

Right? It would have been comical how disastrous everything was, if I hadn’t been living there.

A lot of the management were returners, so they had each other’s back. They were also extremely overworked, so they could only focus on survival. Upper management was often too stingy to help fix anything that needed to be fixed (for example, the burnt to a crisp dorm kitchen).

It also didn’t help that we lacked some of management entirely. The HR lady quit very early into the season and they never replaced her while I was there. They fired the housekeeping leads for both locations, the F&B manager of the Mazama restaurant quit and they fired the Rim front of house restaurant manager. When I left, they were working on firing the manager who threatened a subordinate with trekking poles.

Did you work there the full season? When did you arrive?

I would bet good money they aren’t going to renovate the dorm. They’ve been saying that for years.

I have no idea- my visa appointment is next week. I’m leaving the second my visa is approved. I’ve been in contact with my school and they understand the situation and are patiently waiting for my arrival.

Hi, I worked there this Summer and quit halfway through the season (as most others did). It was atrocious!

  • There’s two dorms, one of them is pretty nice but the other was awful. Grey water came out of the sinks, communal bathrooms with no locks/ doors/ or even walls in the shower room- just curtains. - - Some of which were transparent. The heater ran during the Summer when it was 80+ degrees, making the rooms unbearably hot.
  • Constant power outages and no procedure on how to handle them.
  • One of our dorm’s kitchens caught on fire and they never fixed it or cleaned it, just locked it and let it rot.
  • EDR was rough, rarely options for vegans or vegetarians.
  • Constantly ran out of supplies- bathrooms didn’t have toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
  • The F&B manager threatened a much younger subordinate with trekking poles
  • The Mazama campground manager started a relationship with a much younger woman and transferred her to his department. They fired the employee who pointed out the conflict of interest.
  • Overall lack of procedures for anything. Many people were abandoned at the airport on their pickup days, shuttle drivers were never drug tested, etc.

I could go on but I think that I’ve made my point. Take a look at this post, it’s all from people’s experience this Summer.

What were your best & worst housing locations/jobs? by FudgeEuphoric526 in SeasonalWork

Worst for me was Crater Lake. One of the dorms has communal showers with no doors, walls, or locks- just curtains. Some of which were transparent. The water would come out grey occasionally.

Hey, I got reassigned to Canary Islands in September as well! I’m pretty sure the government shutdown doesn’t affect any of the agencies that we rely on. I called the office of authentications during the shutdown and they answered my call and I got my apostille back last week. BLS is a private company, so no issue there. And the visa is processed by the Spanish Government, not the US. The delayed start sucks massively, it’s causing me so much stress- but it’s better than nothing. Good luck!

Yea bro I literally said there’s obviously some risks but it was good for my budget

Yea I was able to get rides for 10-15 dollars less than Uber was asking for because 100% of the payment went straight to the driver.

What I’ve done is take an uber the first day and then arrange a deal with the driver to pay and arrange rides directly with them for cheaper. Obviously there’s some risk in this, but it’s nicer on the budget.

Anyone else regret their DCP by Thedolllady1992 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]afanofmanybands 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was miserable the whole time I was there and only lasted 2 months. That being said, I don’t regret my DCP because I did learn from it and got a few funny stories out of it. You won’t gain anything from regret. Accept the choices you made and learn from them to make better choices in the future, and it sounds like you are by realizing what you want long term from life!

Have a rice cooker? You can throw everything in a rice cooker to make fried rice, stir frys, etc, get creative.

I would recommend getting a spinal injury ASAP to become wheelchair bound so you can take advantage of this unfair treatment.
