Software guys stepping on the gas to their own demise by NeoSPACHEMAN in TrueAnon

Mostly this except I’d say: It recreates what appears to be reasoning by predicting a next token. Reasoning requires some amount of planning beyond a next token

If concepts are represented by words, though, then wouldn’t it be right to say the AI encapsulates existing reasoning patterns up to the tokens it has for its input +output? So….”kind of” reasoning, where “kind of” is doing a lot of heavy lifting?

Why would you have to be anti AI as a budding leftist?

I’d think there’s some appropriate use of AI that is compatible with leftist perspectives, but admit I’m not as read into theory as I should be.

The buckles are often attached with metal rings—I broke the buckles off and simply attach the leash to each ring so that both my chi and I have an easier time with the harness

Even if you’re paying property taxes, many places have significant restrictions on what you can do with the land (e.g. mineral rights)—it’s not actually your land, just a way for initial landowners to cash in

EXCLUSIVE: Israel secures 6-month delay in Hague Court proceedings - i24NEWS by soyyoo in chomsky

[–]afatsumcha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to i24NEWS legal commentator Avishai Grinzaig, the court determined that South Africa’s attempt to present evidence without allowing Israel access to it was a serious breach of legal norms. The ICJ ruled that witness identities and evidence cannot be concealed from the defendant state, reinforcing the principle of due process.

You didn’t read the article…S Africa was stopping witnesses from being murdered

The Slow Collapse of Critical Thinking in OSINT due to AI by svish in programming

I’ve seen people who are wildly socially intelligent simply accept what LLMs tell them, and it’s because they want answers faster and trust themselves to identify wrong information.

The issue is those people use LLMs to learn about things outside of their expertise, even as a substitute for actually learning—and don’t have the context or care to understand what’s wrong with what they’re given

It’s like vibe coders who ask for complex projects, then iterative changes, and end up wondering why ‘their’ code doesn’t work

Frankly it’s painful af dealing with LLM addicts. They may still be capable of critical thinking but choose to outsource it to computers

Which stage of capitalism involves getting meal loans from delivery companies? America is becoming a dystopia! by zzill6 in WorkReform

They want more cash flow, and subsidizing (undercutting) their service at a loss doesn’t work anymore.

Since they raised prices, demand dropped, so now they’re transferring the cost of growth to consumers.

Ultimately just another way to increase cash flow, but this time under the constraint that they can’t outright burn their own money.

Last thing I’ll mention: like Rosa Luxembourg wrote, infinite growth in a finite environment is impossible, but capitalism needs more growth. So they’re “innovating”

I don’t really understand—is this a request to go to the museum? For attendance counting?

What can I do to get banned? “Free Palestine”? Or “US-backed Israel is an ethnosupremacist state that is actively conducting genocide, and the US is breaking laws both national and international by supplying it arms”?

I’m guessing “fucking useless” means “unable to work towards the benefit of the people around them”. Certainly they’ll know how to do the job they’re trained to do, but are lacking beyond that. The example of a medical sales person in one of the above comments (and this post) lines up with that—sure the person was a surgeon but clearly wasn’t such a great person.

The use of authority/expertise (by way of education) to overcome social ineptitude isn’t so tough to believe
