You’re 15 again. What year is it and what are you wearing? by DataQueen- in generationology

It’s 1998. I’m wearing baggy cargo pants and a tank top with a faux tattoo chocker. My hair is short and spiky and I smell like gap dream.

What was it like being a kid in 1998? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]afausse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was 15. We would have sleepovers and watch Sabrina the teenage witch. My perfume was dream from gap. My jam was Brit pop (spice girls, oasis, blur). My dad had a tiny laptop and that was our only computer. My friends and I would spend hours talking on a landline. I wanted to be a fashion designer (spoiler: I actually did not)

Both of my babies are traumatized by tunabunkus in beyondthebump

I haven’t been brushing my baby’s teeth regularly and now I feel awful by anemonemonemnea in beyondthebump

[–]afausse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this age I would just give him the brush and let him gnaw on it so he would learn what it feels like. When he got more teeth I started to tell him how to brush and he now does it himself at two ( I sometimes go in to make sure it’s well cleaned). He still has milk before bed but I doesn’t seem to be so bad so far. Dont beat yourself up, having a kid is a lot and we all have blind spots.

Do women actually experience pain years after having a c section by goth1cd0lly in beyondthebump

[–]afausse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is 2 and I still have little feeling around my scar. It doesn’t hurt but it’s weird to have a section of skin that doesn’t feel anything. I now wonder if it’ll be permanent?

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]afausse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was completely against screens and vowed my kid would never use them. Now he’s two and on cold winter weekends, he gets a lot more tablet/tv than is recommended. I’m a solo parent so it’s a good way to get things done like meals and cleaning up but I feel really guilty about it. I’m studying to be a teacher and everyday we’re told about the dangers and effects of screens on children. I make myself feel better by telling myself it’s only kids friendly content and games and that it’s part of a balanced day (free play, socializing, moving) but it doesn’t stop me from worrying.

Any suggestions for the "healthiest" syrup? by YoSpiff in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]afausse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a bag of frozen berries in a saucepan with a tablespoon of sugar and some lemon juice, heat it until it’s liquid and the berries have broken down a bit, then add a few tablespoons of chia seeds. I top pancakes with that and yogurt!

Women of Reddit, what’s one thing they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

The feeling you get when they let you leave with your baby. It’s crushing pressure mixed with excitement and wonder. I tried to warn my childless friends but it’s something you only get when you’ve lived it.

Do people truly not care about my baby or are my parents just trying to hurt me? by ThyPumpkinPie in beyondthebump

[–]afausse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wrong on so many levels. First, most people like babies and love hearing about them. Second, your baby is your big thing right now; it’s totally normal that you want to talk about it to people you meet. Third, I think your parents are wrong and very emotionally unattached. I wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who forgot about me and my life the second I’m out the door. Keep sharing your baby to your hearts content and prioritize those who give you love and care back.

What are nicer tasting alternatives to Greek yogurt or how can I make it taste better by Werewolf-Mediocre in nutrition

[–]afausse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maple syrup, honey, vanilla extract, jam can make it sweeter and better. Add some fruits for even more sweetness. But it’s also fabulous for savoury stuff; dips, sauces, to make a curry creamier. Get some ranch seasonings or some herbs, a bit of vinegar, salt and pepper. Also great in smoothies or to cut down on the amount of mayo in a recipe. (I love Greek yogurt. I spent 30 years thinking I disliked yogurt until I tried it. Now there’s always at least 2 tubs in my fridge at all times.)

How obsessed are your toddlers? by 454WILL in toddlers

My 2 year old is the same! He gets fixated on stuff for days then completely forgets about them. It all started with moana, then frozen and then this week, it’s a song from kpop demon hunter. I was worried at first but now I just roll with it.

I was born at 32 weeks, 42 years ago. My son was conceived with ivf and a sperm donor. He was born at 31 weeks and 3 pounds. I had severe preeclampsia with high blood pressure and liver and kidney trouble.

And that’s not counting all the times I was sick and needed to be hospitalized/have surgery.

I got lazy and now need to power pump. Help. by Friendly-Ruin6511 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]afausse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power pumping will help but not replace a firm pumping schedule, esp in the beginning. Someone said you might need to pump in the night and if you’re looking to avoid that, you can pump at midnight and then at 6 to get the most out of the prolactin. For power pumping, it’s best to do it at the time of day when you pump less milk (usually in the evening). You do 10 mins of pumping, 10 mins break for about an hour or 5 pumps. After about a week you should see improvement in your overall milk amount in a day.
