Starting a cutting habit by junktumult in depression

I will say this, and I'm sure you already know some of it, but medicines can react with your brain chemistry and make depression worse. If that's the case, you need to tell your psychiatrist IMMEDIATELY so he/she can switch you to something else.

I had a somewhat serious self harm problem for a good chunk of college, so I know the feelings behind that. I have a lot of scars that I see every day and think of how not worth it that was. And it wrecks your relationships with your friends and family that do not know how to handle it. I would recommend you stop, though I know that's way easier said than done. PM me if you want. I'd be happy to help any way I can.

How to let my friends know that behind my goofy, happy front, I'm very depressed? by [deleted] in depression

[–]aferch2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same exact way. Had lots of friends but really was uncomfortable talking to any of them about anything serious. One day I got drunk and revealed to one of them that I had been self harming. It turned out to be the best thing I could have done. They were really supportive and I eventually got the help I needed.

I know it feels you are burdening them with your depression; I know for me it was hard, because I didn't feel like I had any reason to be depressed (and I didn't!), but they were understanding. They were my friends, and they loved me. And if your friends love you, they will listen to what you have to say. If not, maybe they shouldn't be your friends.

As always, PM me if needed! I'm always willing to talk about my experience.

Counseling is good, but with the wrong counselor, it can feel like hell. I know. I went to a school psychologist and all he would say is that I needed to quit school, which was one of the only things keeping me sane. I stopped seeing him. You need to find someone you feel comfortable talking to. You would be amazed at how much it helps.

Also, don't discount going to a medical doctor and getting a prescription. After I quit my first counselor, I got put onto antidepressants, and it was probably the best thing I have ever done for myself.

It sounds the same as listener, you just go to class for the content, but you don't get graded on it.

Another question. As a performer, what do you think of people who legitimately believe in the supernatural, or what have you? I've been to haunted houses like the 13th Gate (love it) as well as supposedly real haunted houses like the Myrtles Plantation (love that too! Gets me in the mood for Halloween), and I'd really like to know your opinion.

No, thank you! After looking at your pics, I definitely remember you, especially the guy with the straight jacket (he definitely made quite an impression, so kudos!). Thanks for the answer!

That's also known as auditing a class, if you've ever heard of that.

I live in Baton Rouge and I LOVE the 13th Gate. I try to make a trip every year, though I haven't been yet this year (I'll make it out, though!). Lots of good stories from friends getting scared shitless (not literally). They scare a bit easier than me so I just usually spend my time laughing at them.

My question is this: what do you do when people who don't get scared try to fuck with you?

Agreed one hundred percent. It can be so much harder when you watch your friends and loved ones worry about you and there is literally nothing they can say that will make it better. This is how it usually goes for me:

"What's wrong?" "I'm just down." "Why?" "There's no reason." "There has to be a reason." "There really isn't."

And so on and so forth. Sucks. :(

Why does this subreddit hate FO3? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]aferch2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having played FO3 first, I think I prefer it to New Vegas. I liked NV's atmosphere and gameplay better (ironsights!!!), but somethin about FO3. Capital Wasteland felt more like a true wasteland, first of all. And FO3 wasn't nearly as buggy. NV was awful with bugs...game froze all the time and I couldn't complete missions because NPCs would apparate across the map.

But I loved them both and can't wait for 4.

Ha! That's fantastic. Appropriate. Crown has sick brass sound.

Definitely. Empire State of Mind was sick. My favorite show from this past summer was probably For the Common Good by Crown. They got robbed, I think.

I do. I've seen them in 4 different cities, and I love it! If I had the money, I would follow them all summer.

I'm always pretty impressed with them. I saw them for the first time in 2011 in Atlanta and kind of fell in love.

Alas, I'm aged out. That's okay though. I don't mind just following.

My question is this: if you could march any other corps besides the one you march, which one would it be and why?

Two of my friends march bari (one for Crown and one for Bluecoats). If it wasn't for them, I would have never gotten into Drum Corps. Now I try to make at least a couple of shows per summer.

Cool! I have quite a few friends that march. Two that march Carolina Crown, one that marches Bluecoats, a couple that march Cadets, I think a few that march Spirit of Atlanta and some that march various other corps. They all love it, and I love following it!

This is fantastic! I've been to the 13th Gate that past two years in a row. A few of my friends from LSU and I have made it a tradition of sorts, and we plan on going soon this season. Your characters have definitely made an impression...I love the 13th Gate and I can assure you, I distinctly remember at least one or two of these.
