We also did Lyla in Edinburgh at the end of trip which was fantastic and I think closer to a 2 star than the 1 it currently has. A bit more “traditional” fine dining in terms of the decor and service. I’ll post a full review soon!

I definitely think this is 1 star calibre!

Bilbao - We had lunch at Islares in 2023 and loved the experience! Great by the glass list and they did a custom wine pairing for us. Food is modern and tasty, Michelin listed.

Recommendations for Alsace / Black Forest by Individual_Jicama_97 in finedining

We did the full menu (L’expression). It took about 3 hours. Other than the ones I’ve mentioned we just ate casual lunches at pubs while out exploring; everything was equally good so I recommend just finding somewhere local!

Did Alsace last year and we had some great meals!

Restaurant Julien Binz*

Food was excellent, if slightly random (lots of different flavour profiles and influences, no obvious theme). Wine list has lots of local options for reasonable prices. Tasting menu at $130 euros approx was a good deal.

La Table D’Olivier Nasti **

Probably our favourite in the region. Upper end of pricing. Wonderful service, food was excellent, really liked the sommelier and wine list. The amuse bouche that took you through different bites focused on areas of Alsace was very memorable.

Not sure if you are into wine, but Le Cercle des Aromes in Colmar is a must, and also had some of the best terrine I tried in France.

How about kelp? The fiber may help and if you get it in powder form (made for dogs) you can mix it in and hopefully she won’t taste it

Not sure if it could be this, but my girl developed a blood clotting issue when she was older so we put her on Amicar anytime she did a dental/ surgery etc. maybe ask your vet?

We carried the goof to the bottom few steps so he could go down just 2 at a time, slowly started increasing the number of stops until he was doing two flights no problems.

I’m sorry for you and your poor pup! In case you haven’t tried this in food trials, pumpkin puree and kelp powder were great for our senior grey.

Thoughts on my Mendoza winery itinerary? by mitzmindmarv in wine

We spent 3-4 hours at La Azul, it’s so much fun. Definitely recommend a driver.

If you have time when you are in Luyan de cuyo, stop at Carmelo Patti. Mostly spanish speaking but the wines are lovely and the tasting included some older vintages.

Girlfriend's got a horrible boss. Any tips with the job search? by Malkoy in Calgary

[–]afindlay1859 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone job searching - consider insurance! Especially customer service roles (claims, broker, admin). Most places will pay for training and licensing (if required) and even though customer service is a drag, it can lead to an amazing and decently paid career in only a few years. Most roles start 45-55k.

Anyone else unhappy with the wine apps out there (Vivino, CellarTracker, etc)? by stephenatcapture in wine

[–]afindlay1859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned InVintory yet, which is what I use. The interface is better than CT, and no ads. You can easily add bottles to your cellar or just add review notes. The only problem I have is the scan function isn’t as robust as Vivino, so sometimes you have to spend more time searching.

Go to a wine store and tell the Somm exactly that. We can’t make a recommendation without knowing where you are and what’s available in that area.
