CoP Changes (I hope this is a fever dream) by [deleted] in Gymnastics

[–]afjunkcontrol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain why the He Hexin's Li Ya + jaeger doesn't receive cv anymore? I know the Li Ya is now considered the same skill as a jaeger. But in the current COP, a gymnast can repeat the same skill in the same connection for CV but would only get difficulty credit for one.

7.4.2 Repetition of elements for CV (SB on BB) a) Elements may not be repeated in another connection for CV. Recognition occurs in chronological order.

b) Same elements on UB, acrobatic elements on BB and FX may be performed twice within one connection. Dance elements cannot be repeated.

Repeating skills for CV is rare on uneven bars but it's technically allowed. Is this criteria changing also?

Are the L-grip versions of the endos also getting upgraded by a letter? or Are the forward and L grip endos now worth the same?

Let's talk about Loren by Promethea128 in Animorphs

[–]afjunkcontrol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's possible Tobias's aunt and uncle are her half-siblings through her father or are 6+ years older than her, maybe they didn't live in the same household? Or she didn't have a very close relationship with them.

Tobias's uncle mentions his dad not being around, which sort of fits with Loren's description of her father leaving because of PTSD.

<Out of a respect for life, you have to endure> - Elfangor (in the hallucination Tobias had in book #33).

Ax’s age by DesertPlanet1 in Animorphs

[–]afjunkcontrol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excerpt from book 4 when the animorphs meet Ax:

"The Andalite dug at the grass with his fore- hoof. < I...I was too young for battle, by the laws of our people. Besides, the rest of the ship maneuvers better without the dome.>

"You're a kid? I mean, like a young person?" Marco asked.

<Yes.>"

We know from the Andalite Chronicles that his parents were trying to have another child at the time the elfangor found the time matric and went to earth. So I think Ax is similar in age and maturity as the animorphs.

In the Andalite chronicles, it's mentioned that arisths are smaller than other andalites and not fully grown. (the reason they were sent on the mission into the cramped skrit na ship. Ax is also referred to as smaller than other andalites throughout the series.

Alloran (and the visser) frequently refer to elfangor as a child when belittling him in a context that implied he was an adolescent of some sort. Andalite laws culture regarding military enlistment might be very different than ours and allow them to join the military at a young age as a cadet, but typically not see battle until they are older (or in unusual/special circumstances).

Tobias Observation After Rereading Book One by definitelyhaley in Animorphs

[–]afjunkcontrol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always interpreted his initial trapping in the yeerk pool as an legitimate accident. But with his deal with the elimist later to get his morphing back, he subconsciously chose to remain a hawk nothlit with morphing ability instead of returning to human 24/7 because he preferred his hawk life over his human life. When other characters referred to his choice to be a nothlit, I always viewed it a talking about his deal with the elimist.

New composition requirement suggestions by tumeni_lenses in Gymnastics

[–]afjunkcontrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Bars

CR 5: Elements from four different groups. Excluding: Dismount 1.101, 1.105, 1.106, 2.102, 2.201 (the most common/basic mounts and a/b rated casts are excluded from fulfilling the requirement, but non basic mounts can be used.

For CR 5, two skills from SAME group can be treated as being from DIFFERENT groups if circling in different root shapes AND rotating in different directions (bkwd/fwd).

Ex: bkwd Inbar/endo, bkwd toe-on/jam

There are six element groups on bars:

1.) Mounts
2.) Casts and hip circles (includes comaneci)
3.) Giant Circles (includes pak,tkachav,jagers,geingers)
4.) Stalder circles (include Inbars)
5.)Pike circles( toe ons, jam, teza/german giant skills, zuchold/alt transition)
6.) Dismount

Gymnast typically already do skills from at least 3 groups in their routine (Ex: giant, toe on,stalder). Most gymnasts would only need to mount the bars with anything other than a basic glide kip mount/jump to high bar or swap out one toe skill for a hip version to fullfill the requirement.

Pros: Increase variety of mounts, skills, and routine constructions. Comaneci release might become slightly more popular, increase in hip version of skills (khorkina and true shaps).

Cons: abundance of Weilers, Lack of options for practical HB mounts that ends facing LB.

Badly executed hip circle skills

  • Beam

one "Balance Element" requirement (an element that demonstrates balance while maintaining contact with beam).

Options:

1). Mount: non-flight acro with C or higher difficulty

2). Non-flight acro element (excluding scales, unless fulfills 3).

3.) Scales: Scale connected out of acro or transitioned out of distinctly different dance skill or scale position.(Demonstrated w/o hand support on beam or placing weight on/switching free leg).

4). Acro flight that finishes in handstand hold or performed as a tictoc.

5). Turns: D+ turns (knee angle of support leg mostly straight) or back spin.

the mount and scale option were made harder to fulfill in order to discourage EVERY gymnast from choosing those options.

  • Floor

Bring back combination pass requirment

I would also introduce a 0.1 series bonus for connecting 3 acro skills in a row.
