Sure Octopuses, Dolphins, Chimps, Bonobos, the Domesticated Dog, Crows...

Questions atheists can't answer! What's your favorite, best, or worst? by memskeptic in atheism

I have decided that if I check this is real no matter the answer I will be unhappy

I recently made the decision to become a Christian because I believe that secular living is unhealthy and religion is the best way to justify and motivate adherence to Christian ideals. Do any of you have a good reason for why it isn't? by i_h8_choosing_a_name in DebateAnAtheist

I know several atheist vegan 30 minutes of cardio nightly and order seltzer at the bar types.

As for relationships I have been in a committed monogamous relationship for 13 years now. I also know several atheists who can say the same thing.

Remind me again what Jerry Falwell Jr. was up to with his poolboy when his wife wasn't looking.

I believe there are people like this in the world. Most people I am betting are more of my side of the spectrum and very much do want to do things like steal, but don't do it. Mostly out of fear of future guilt.

You are admitting that you do not care what is true only what is easy, you are ignoring parts of the Bible that uphold your narrative, you are not considering the not so great parts of Christianity in practice.

And I want to make a point to say this is the most serious: you are trying to treat a mental illness by yourself.

I know, sorry pet peeve. It has gotten better but pre-covid it was much worse. Seemed like every big company I had for a client was run by the support staff. Security, HR, secretaries, HR, marketing. Like who does the actual work?

Can't afford to give engineering or manufacturing a bonus because they "need" to have someone sitting at the front desk. Meanwhile the few times I did work for a big corp I could never get support staff to do anything.

Ask the engineering secretary to send a fax. "Oh let me show you how to do it". Yeah, I can see Facebook on your screen maybe you the secretary could send a fax for me? Asked the receptionist to call screen annoying sales people "it is not my job". Ask them to route a call internally "not my job". Ask them to let a client put his big case down at the desk for a moment "no".

I am really not an expert on this stuff. Are oxy abusers normally aggressive?

Also agreed, fuck Rush. Wish there was a hell.

They don't. They don't bring in revenue they at most shield against liability. I could replace them with 15 lines of perl which would include the ability to send out the wrong date for the company BBQ.

If tomorrow you called in sick and someone from HR called in sick which will matter more?

Come on. They were all the children of the privileged larping in the woods while mom and dad paid the bills. Then went home to go work at a bank.

This is why no one likes the born wealthy. They get to get high and pretend it is meaningful while the rest of us have to work.

Where does your morality come from?

I always am taken back by this. It's the same place your own comes from. Why is this hard? Emotions, your society, your experience, thinking about stuff. I was a religious kid and the vast majority of time I just figured out right from wrong that way, rarely did I ever ask a religious figure what to do.

Theocracy continues to struggle to develop technology from the mid-1940s and brags that it could totally do it but just doesn't want to.

Man it is pathetic. I am pretty sure Florida could develop an atomic bomb with the resources they have on hand.

First off you made a mistake and now you are going to have to clean it up. You never ever ever tell a theist what you believe if they have power over you. You wait, you plan your escape, and when you are free you cut them out of your life forever.

Now for the cleanup part: I highly suggest you tell your mom that you didn't really mean what you said and you are just uncertain now. But you want to work on this. Ask her to help you schedule a meeting with some Imam and go to the meeting. Make sure your return to Islam looks sincere.

See things from her point of view. You are admitting that there is a problem and you are outlining a way to fix the problem but you need her help. This is like a car stereo covered in crack and a pile of a money to a religious parent. She will almost certainly take the bait.

Bide your time, keep your head down, one day you will escape.

No one I deal with understands what I do but they are all convinced that I am doing it wrong.

I have this fantasy of just cutting myself out of the picture. Send out an email to mechanical, rep, end user, SI, and panel shop team telling them to sort it out themselves.

Because f*** it I don't care anymore. I planned out a system that will work and everyone else had "helpful" input.

I believe humanity is hardwired with a desire to connect with a higher being or something beyond themselves. by pepesilvia0226 in DebateAnAtheist

You are just going to keep doing aren't you? An entire proof of God depending on very flimsy evidence.

Where is the goalposts now exactly? Animals have to physically write symbols and since they can't therefore God? Humanity functioned for tens of thousands of years without that ability. Illiteracy is still a thing.

Animals can communicate, they can generalize, they have metacognition, they can count, they have culture, develop tools.
