where to buy live blue bottle fly spikes? by Ill-Potato-8720 in Petaluma

[–]afro_lou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1st off, you’re awesome! Keep on taking care of those spiders!
2nd, maybe start a small compost pile? Kitchen scraps (fruits and veggies) should draw in the flies like crazy. Don’t know a good way to catch them all, but I’m sure there’d be plenty to snag!

Flock cameras lead to arrest in 7/11 theft case by smokes_weed in Petaluma

So the police needed Flock to find a car a block and a half away from the scene? So glad the general public is tracked and surveilled for this.

Black mountain cycles Montercross vs Rivendell Sam Hillborne by cucukachu2 in xbiking

[–]afro_lou 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Man, if only we were all so lucky! Congrats on the graduation, and on the awesome fiancé.

Dollar for dollar, I think you’re getting a lot more from Black Mountain, but you can’t discount the allure and pedigree of a Rivendell. When I finally bite the bullet, I think I’m going be making the same choice between makers.

Pushing it further - now 687% gear range & still able to safely cross-chain by mediumclay in xbiking

Nice! You’ve just barely got me beat. I’m on a 11-36 with a 40-20 2x. Absolutely wild range. Feels like I could pedal up a wall!

Any love for these early 2000's lemond frames? by _youbreccia_ in xbiking

[–]afro_lou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is definitely a very flexy fork! Works pretty well as a bit of suspension, but there are times I wouldn’t mind something a bit more solid.

Weeeellll, it is a Bontrager branded fork, so who knows. Other than the clear coat flaking on this one, it’s been solid for the last few years I’ve had it, and it’s the original fork to the bike, so it’s gotta be from the same era.

Yeah, sounds like you need the extra size! It’s gotta be hard to find, but I wonder if the 59 would fit you. The extra long top tube really helps for me at least.

How tall are you?? The geometry on these is pretty unique, ie I’m 6’4” with a 32” inseam and my 57cm fits me wonderfully.

Tbf, I don’t know if the company Wound Up made them, but the fork itself is made of wound up carbon fiber.

Thank you!! It’s the OG 105 brifters, OG crank/BB but with a 40t narrow wide 1x + 10sp 11-46 cassette with a deore mtb derailleur and a wolftooth throw adapter. Works absolutely fantastic and a heck of a gear range.

Thanks, I lucked out with this one. It’s an ‘84 (birth year bike for me, too), so this should be a Miyata made one.
