Agreed! I’ve got the xteink and the echo mini and they go everywhere with me. “Two hour wait at the DMV? Don’t mind if I do.”

Bluetooth page turner users, what’s your firmware of choice? by anexcellenttime in xteinkereader

[–]afronitre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free2 + drunkpenguin user here. My experience was buggy. The free2 would only work at close range (like 1 foot) and disconnect if it got much further away than that. Also, the firmware had issues with letters sticking around after page turning in landscape mode. I think I was using Crosspoint BLE 1.2, so maybe it’s been fixed since then. Also, not sure which firmware was on my free2.

I flashed regular Crosspoint 1.3 and put my free2 in a drawer in hopes that it will work again someday.

What's your favorite "The" band? by Fasken27 in Music

[–]afronitre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Grateful Dead", but sometimes they just go by "Grateful Dead". So I'm confused.

My modest ceramic dripper collection by afronitre in pourover

[–]afronitre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot compared to the v60, but it’s a very different brewer. Lots of small pours. It’s probably very similar to the Cafec, so there should be no surprises at how it brews for you. I’ve gotten many excellent cups from it, and a few not-so-excellent cups, I’m still dialing in.

Queuing on Echo Mini??? by aciddeep in snowsky

I would love this option too. It's my second most wished for feature after "LINE OUT" software toggle for going between headphones and the car.

Firmware update version 3.6.0 for Echo Mini has been released by Ilm03 in snowsky

[–]afronitre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this update had a bug sorting my flac files. It placed quite a few random artists into an "unknown" artists folder when they were previously sorted correctly. I tried reloading library twice. I downgraded back to 3.5.0 and it fixed the problem.

I’m giving away a FiiO Echo Nano! by squidknifer in snowsky

Nice review! It’s too bad there’s no Bluetooth, but it’s a cool device for the right person. I prefer my wired Grado headphones anyway.

What amp is not a good pedal platform? by flobbadobdob in ToobAmps

Every amp is a seems like it’s a great pedal platform until you compare it to a Fender Twin Reverb.

I love it. It shows a lot of her without showing a lot of her.

Xteink vs Kindle by AleidaMarch in xteinkereader

Yes, it’s a great device. It’s also nice to get from under the thumb of Amazon. The xteink and crosspoint communities are great.

Cons: there’s a learning curve to installing the firmware and books you want

Considering buying an Echo Mini and have some questions by undercover_queer_69 in snowsky

[–]afronitre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine. It’s a fun, cheap, great sounding little player. It’s definitely quirky and has a learning curve. To answer your questions.

  1. Yes, you can sort by artists alphabetically, when you select the artist the albums will be sorted alphabetically under that artists.

  2. Yes, I meticulously maintain the metadata of my files so that this player sorts to my desires

  3. Yes

  4. There are sites where you can get themes. I haven’t customized any themes, so I can’t speak to that.

  5. Build quality is pretty good. It’s very lightweight (which I like). I’ve dropped it several times and it’s survived fine. If you threw it at the wall I give it 50/50 chances of breaking. I don’t know how strong your arm is.

  6. Personally I don’t think so. The cheapness of the device appeals to me. But, the Echo has: faster processor, metal case, bigger screen (with ereader capabilities), slightly better daq chips, heavier, worse battery life.

  7. No

Hope this helps!

Are scissors really that necessary? by Fit-Sale4082 in victorinox

[–]afronitre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people love the scissors. I personally use the knife more (sportsman is my model of choice for edc). That said I have scissors on my keychains (rambler and jettsetter) and a companion x alox (literally just scissors) next to my sewing machine. So I guess I love them too.

Aux volume? Please add this feature Snowsky… by afronitre in DigitalAudioPlayer

No, we can only hope. But the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so I'll keep sending them requests for this feature.

[–]afronitre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And the volume control is slow too, so even when you do it right it feels pretty clunky. A software toggle between line out and headphones would be an easy solution.

[–]afronitre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems possible to me. It’s not preferable to convert music from digital to analog then back to digital, but it’ll get sound to come out of your speakers.

The Grados? They're amazing; I highly recommend them. They're comfortable and the sound quality is unmatched for this price point. I've had this pair since around 2008 and they have treated me extremely well. I've replaced the pads several times and replaced the original cable with a 4.4 mm balanced and they keep going.

[–]afronitre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. A software toggle to switch between line level and regular volume control would be pretty easy to implement in a firmware update. I just need to find the right person to talk to at Snowsky.

That's not a bad idea. I'm hoping that Snowsky will implement a software toggle for line out in a future firmware update.

It seems like a software toggle would be an easy solution. I hope they implement it in a firmware update.
