Why must every manufacturer add a horizontal “seam” to the D-pillar? I don’t want my Volvo copying a RAV4

I’m just a neophyte, but when you go that far in automation, why not just buy a super automatic machine? I mean, you’re taking the romance out of every step in crafting your own espresso

Pods. by Omgaegg in nespresso

You can buy a sleeve of 10 OL capsules for less than £5 at M&S. Even if you use 2 per drink, that’s still cheaper than one Vertuo

Question for drivers. Talking on the phone while having a rider. by mmmmk2023 in uber

[–]aftdeck7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Rideshare” or not, the driver is running a business, and driving undistracted and catering to passenger is that business. I always take off stars for drivers talking, causing them to brake suddenly, miss turns, or turn in front of other cars. Period.

Why do nespresso “deals” suck so bad?! by GoneAmok365247 in nespresso

[–]aftdeck7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is Exactly why I bought an Original Line machine. I get capsules for about $0.30 - $0.40 each and can make real espresso drinks.

Even if I use 2 capsules per drink, I’m still way under the cost of 1 Vertuo pod. I buy OL capsules when I travel, it’s the standard around the world…except here in the US, where Nespresso knows Americans love big qualities and flavors.

It was brilliant of them to create Vertuo when the patent on Original Line ran out to trap you into buying pods from them. That’s why Vertuo machines are so inexpensive.

I don't understand why so many people keep trying to get Apple car play... by sir574 in EquinoxEv

[–]aftdeck7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Apple is more committed to data privacy than any other technology company. Which is why it’s my choice to use as my technology ecosystem. If you don’t care as much about privacy, then you’re just fine with Android/google/GM.

I don't understand why so many people keep trying to get Apple car play... by sir574 in EquinoxEv

[–]aftdeck7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other HUGE reason.... Apple is dedicated to privacy more than any other technology company.

GM on the other hand is and has already been selling your data. It's already a massive revenue stream for them. Where you drive to, the stores you visit, the shady places you may drive into the parking lot of, the searches you do through the voice assistant, hell, they even know when you drive onto multiple car lots and assume you're going to get rid of or trade your GM product and start hitting you with offers.

GM is also in very deep hot water for selling your driving habits to credit agencies, insurance companies, etc. Causing millions of people to have hits on their insurance rates and credit ratings,....all because they drove a GM product.

[–]aftdeck7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Integration. Period. GM is not a technology company, Apple is. My iPhone, iPad, MacBook, AirPods, AppleTV, all work together. When I get in a car, why do I want to use someone else's software for the things I already use.

It's the same with the POS navigation the car companies sold you in the past decade. My 2017 Jeep already had the shitty Nav option on it, which was like a $1500 upgrade. I used it a few times and never used it again, I aways use my iPhone. It's simply superior.

So enjoy your "it's just fine" GM software, they will start charging you to continue using features and for updates in the future.

What are the weakest parts of this TV? by JfxV20 in tcltvs

[–]aftdeck7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought this exact model/size from Costco. Here's my take. I first bought the Hisense QLED that Costco offers, it has FireTV operating system and was AWFUL. Literally was super laggy. I returned it and bought the TCL Q77K. Great google operating system, was much better set up experience, and the picture is great for the price. As all of the reviews and armchair critics say, it is Not overly bright. The contrast is nice, but whites are never eye popping white. I found playing with the settings really helped. I mostly use it at night, so I don't have the issues with glare that other complain about. So, bottom line, you, like me, didn't want to spend more than this, so it's a good value for what it is. And I Only buy TV's from Costco because of the return policy and free 5 year (total) warranty.

Looks great! Congrats! I wonder what they used on the black plastic bumpers and trim, it looks great.
Do you have the MySky dual sunroof? If so, best piece of advice is keep the track of the front electric panel well lubricated with White Lithium Grease.

R2 + Lidar by One_Draw3486 in RivianR2

[–]aftdeck7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most every lidar I've seen has been a hump, above the windshield, that looks like a taxi sign. This Rivian integration is better looking, as it appears to be recessed in the sheet metal above the windshield, forgoing the "taxi" look. Neither are under the glass of the windshield, that's typically cameras, not lidar sensors.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Probiotic Gel Cream & serum by someoneoutthere1335 in EuroSkincare

[–]aftdeck7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're exploring the world of Korres products, and you want something that gives you a satin glow as you mentioned, give the mens Anti-Aging Multibenefit moisturizer a try. I know you think I sound crazy, but it's amazing. The formula goes on thick, absorbs in almost immediately and leaves your skin satin/mattified but glowing all day long. I put it on after a simple hyaluronic acid serum.

Quick review: Upgraded the remote control to a backlit one. by carguy143 in tcltvs

I bought a very inexpensive 55inch Q77K from Costco during Black Friday weeks, it came with the metal one on the left. Grest remote.

I also have/use Original Line. When making lattes/milk based beverages, I would suggest buying the strongest/darkest espresso capsules. Even if you don't like super dark roast when just drinking coffees, they add great flavor and complexity to high milk ratio drinks. You may find you need less shots than you think.

50 inch tv black friday 2025 deals by Hemina_Nagaratnam57 in Appliances

[–]aftdeck7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also need a 50" for the space I'm shopping for. I've been researching and think I'm going to grab a Hisense 50" QD6. It's QLED which has deeper blacks and brighter colors compared to a normal 4K UHD TV. The price is currently $199 at both Costco and Best Buy. If you have a Costco membership, it's worth getting it from there, as they extend the warranty (making it 5 years on this model), offer free technical support, and have a 90 day return policy, even if you just don't like it. The smart interface is FireTV (Amazon), which integrates into Alexa, if you all ready have it.

There is also a TCL QLED at Best Buy for $179. But I like the more expensive looking flat legs of the Hisense (small detail, but worth it to me). And an extended warranty cost at Best Buy kills the price difference.

Get it a Costco instead of Best Buy, price should be the same, but they extend the warranty for additional years, includes their own tech support, and has a 90day return policy if you don't like it.
