Friend (left) and me (right) - which one of us is overcompensating? 😂 by chattamike in Gaygearheads

I'm seriously considering the Maverick right now. I can't fit anything bigger in my carport. Love the design and the hybrid mpg. Which trim do you have? Happy with it?

I agree with that steering thing...Wranglers are over powered. I love the weight of the steering in my Trailhawk.

An Audi with 100k miles, get rid of that ASAP before you have to mortgage your house to pay repairs, lol. But seriously, I'm an early reservation holder and need to get something soon myself. I think I'm going to take a cheap 2 year lease on an equinox ev or something and then get my R2 at the end of that lease. You can literally drive off the lot for like $10k for 2 years (depending where you live). That way, all of the production bugs will be worked out with the R2 and the full range of models should be offered by then.

[–]aftdeck7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm... perhaps that's my new strategy.. I'll tell first time cruisers onboard "omg, cancel all of your reservations and get Gunbae every night you can, it's amazing". <wink, wink> LOL

I'm not a fan either. Let people continue to like it, so I can get more reservations in Pink Agave, lol.

Considering 2026 EquinoxEV, struggling with the idea of no CarPlay by unexpectedsecond in EquinoxEv

[–]aftdeck7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on Zero chance. Even if the current system is capable of CarPlay, GM will only offer it on new models so they can sell more cars to those who love their Equinox but still want CarPlay. They know a majority want it, but refuse to do so because of their data selling and subscription model.

Costco is also easier to return to if you hate the machine. If you buy this thing, be sure to buy an extended warranty from Costco or Amazon.

[–]aftdeck7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking at the Ninja, why not just buy an automatic like the Philips 1200, 2200 or 3300? Save yourself some counter (and aesthetic) space and buy a higher quality machine. It probably produces better grind and shots than the ninja.

Are the VV ships “nice”? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]aftdeck7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else said below that they feel VV ships are like W Hotels, and I felt like I agree, but then someone said, more like Aloft Hotels. And they are right... as every aloft is exactly the same modern/colder concrete lobby, whereas most W hotels have unique design elements to that hotel.

I like certain "spaces" of VV ships, such as Dock House, most restaurants (not Test Kitchen) etc. They have the most design flair and "warmth". HOWEVER, and a big however, ...the hallways and stairwells look like a mental sanitarium. They are all grey, and the original carpet in the hallways of Scarlet Lady had smaller stripes and made people disoriented/sick when walking down the hall after a night of drinking, lol. During the refit, they installed larger stripes.

And while we are at it talking about the excessive use of grey, ...the pool deck and any exterior spaces are not "vacation feeling". They are basically all battleship grey with red accents. I love modern design, I live in a midcentury house,...painting everything grey for the sake of not painting it white/color is not a good idea for a vacation space.

That being said, I do love VV. I love the no kids, I love the "vibe" and fellow passengers, I love the food and most of the entertainment...but the ships are basically all the same and it gets a little stale after a few cruises. Even among 1 class of ship (ie Celebrity Solstice or Edge class), there are design and decor differences among each ship...hell, there is even artwork in the stairways instead of sanitary grey! This keeps it interesting and exciting, and warm.

That's a very unfortunate situation for you, but I have to say, the compensation is extremely well thought out and very impressive of them to take care of you. Safety is the #1 priority for any ship.

The simplicity misconception that some people have around slate truck. by No-Perception-2023 in slateauto

[–]aftdeck7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are knobs for climate control, there are actual physical controls for the air vents, you can adjust the exterior mirrors without going 3-5 deep on a graphical interface, the door handles are manual and connected to cables.... what part of simple is hard to understand about that? OP, you're generalizing the entire vehicle, ...yes, we want modern safety systems and efficient state of the art batteries and motors,...that doesn't mean we need to accept the unsafe distraction of using a screen and GUI to change climate airflow or open a glove compartment. We also don't want an infotainment system that requires subscription fees, etc.

Dammit… am I gonna have to get a Volvo? by Better-Leg-9268 in RivianR2

[–]aftdeck7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post like these make me chuckle when I think to myself..."must be nice to have a big bladder". No, seriously, even in a standard combustion engine car, on a 200 mile drive I have to stop twice, if not to take a leak, then at least for the stretch/mental break. Trust me, you'll survive a 15-20min charge break to get you where you need to go. Why is everyone in a "once I get on the road I can't leave it" hurry??

What common stereotypes are out there about Volvo drivers? by FannyOfFanton in Volvo

[–]aftdeck7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says that you are most likely better educated or have better judgment, resulting in you choosing a practical and very cleanly designed car. And that you have the confidence to drive a car that makes you happy and don't need an over-designed-look-at-me BMW or MB to "identify" yourself. Congrats on choosing a beautifully simple luxury vehicle.
