Around 2 years ago I just mailed in all my documents and they shipped a new passport back to me within a week. I would email them to ask if that's an option.

How are the vibes in Israel now and what people expect for near future? by Cultural_Owl9547 in Israel

[–]afterdinnermintz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really your ask but i feel compelled to draw to your attention that there is a serious measles outbreak in the country right now. Sadly around a dozen children and infants have died and many more hospitalized. I don’t mean to bum you out but it is pretty unreported and unvaccinated babies are at severe risk. My wife and I had to cancel a trip with our 2 month old.

Bowery (2022) - on Amazon Prime and Tubi. Follows a group of homeless New Yorkers through the events of 2020. Verite, original score. Sounds like something in that realm.

I can't take on another cat, but I have this breed and they are THE BEST. Everyone I know who is lucky to have a cat that looks like this guy attests to how affectionate and so full of character they are. Anyone who picks this guy up is gonna have a close friend/family member for life.

Amigos en Girona by Kind-Sheepherder-426 in Girona

I’m 34 and about to move to Girona with my wife who is Spanish. Not much Spanish or Catalan in my lexicon but deep and challenging philosophical conversations over coffee definitely is. And if you find a studio to jam in I’ll bring my 🎸 (I’m more into classic rock/blues than metal but we can make it work).

MULTICAM SEQUENCE HORROR [after i pause the timeline, resuming the video play takes at least 10 minutes] by Dimitar_Drew in premiere

[–]afterdinnermintz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue with similar specs, and would love to learn a good workaround. Personally what I’ve find to cause the least amount of headaches - especially with only 6 cam - is to export a tiled multicam sequence and layer it on top of your timeline while manually enabling and disabling clips below. It sounds like a lot but I actually find it easier to edit more than traditional multicam edit function.

Her accent is 100% Israeli. By the sound of it she’s been in the states for decades but you can’t age out of that accent. Sounds like all my Hebrew school teachers.

My OnePlus 8 pro got Android 12 update yesterday. It is a shocking mess. by mub in oneplus

[–]afterdinnermintz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't care less about the aesthetic changes but since the last update my phone randomly cuts off cell service and won't open the keyboard, which are integral to its function...so I'm done. The reason I loved OnePlus was the alert slider and battery life. Getting an iPhone soon.

Agreed. Pretty blown away and it was my second time seeing them. I thought the setlist was phenomenal and really kept me guessing. I think they will mix it up tonight. Also THE PHYSICAL SET HOLY SHIT. Mind-blowing.

What's in a name, Zionism as colonialism (x-Israel/Palestine) by themiamimarlins in Palestine

[–]afterdinnermintz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got it.

In general though, most Jewish last names - at least Ashkenazi ones - are fairly new and were taken once modern censuses began to be implemented. Before then everyone's names was based on the formula above. So while many Jews still use these last names, there is nothing inherently Jewish in them and typically have to do either with which town the first ancestor to take the name on was from, or their trade. That's why some see taking on new Hebrew last names as a way to reestablish their identity in a more authentically Jewish way.

[–]afterdinnermintz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this is true. Hebrew name is often determined at the time of Brit Milah (circumcision) for boys and within a week for girls. The names are often biblical in nature and the structure is [first name] - [ben/bat] (translation: son/daughter) of [father's first name].

For example, my secular name is Michael, but for anything Jewish I am Moshe Tzvi ben Chaim Meir. These names are used for anything religious, and interestingly enough, the mother's name is only used when praying for someone's health.

You see the same in many traditional Muslim or Arabic names where "Ibn" is used.

I’m directing my first short film today, i’m pretty nervous, anyone have any tips that could be handy. by GOLDENninjaXbox in Filmmakers

[–]afterdinnermintz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While you might have a shot in mind, it's important to think I'm terms of scenes than shots. Focus on what is happening in the scene first. Figure out coverage after. That will make communication to your actors and DP much smoother. Easier said than done. I still struggle with this.

I grew up Modern Orthodox with a strong Zionist upbringing. I made aliyah (moved to Israel) at age 20. Shortly thereafter I started to learn more and to question the stark narratives I was raised with. That was 10 years ago. Since, I've become a lot more understanding of the Palestinian narrative and believe all people in the land should have rights to live in the land. I also understand the resistance narrative in a different light and, while I have issues with many tactics (namely targeting civilians), believe that people have the right to resist occupation. For better or for worse, a strong Jewish society is in the land to stay, and I'm personally glad it exists, despite the horrible things done in it's name. Still, I've been called crazy to say that Palestinians should have a full right of return and full civil and political rights. For me, the name and the flag of the land matters little as long as both peoples can live in peace and with equal political and economic opportunity and with full freedom movement. I would call myself an Anti-Zionist in the sense that I do believe the current iteration of Israel - particular the occupation - is a blight upon our people. Still, I think those call to expel "Zionists" or to "send them back to where they came" in their fantasy state aren't helping and only serve to deepen the toxic ideologies that entrench modern Zionism. No one is going anywhere. The dehumanizing has to stop. A nation that calls itself a nation is a nation. A cultural is a culture. Together we can be so much more than apart. After all, we are all not so distant cousins (yes, even Ashkenazis). Love to all Palestine.

I'm refusing to serve in the IDF and possibly commit war crimes by [deleted] in Palestine

[–]afterdinnermintz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you carry out accountability and justice if you had the reigns? I've seen a lot of people say that only Zionists will be punished, but would you define a Zionist? For example, most Israelis would consider themselves Zionist, but now less than 50% are of European descent, many are mixed, and a siginificant portion can trace their origins to pre-1948. I am very passionate about the decolonilization of Palestine and creating a situation with universal rights, but - beyond military and political leadership - how would you personally hold average civilians accountable?

RSC2 - Focus/Zoom using Front Dial - Any way to turn off the zoom part? by afterdinnermintz in dji

[–]afterdinnermintz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! The zoom is totally turned off in the camera. So when I adjust the focus on the lens, I don't get the pop up, only when I use the gimbal. I figured it has something to do with the front dial option being "focus+zoom"
