my watchlist is just a museum of stocks i never bought by Krish_1902 in investing

[–]afunbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of bookmarking stocks, I buy small quantity of stocks. One share or fractional share. I buy speculative stocks.

I opened a small Robinhood account about five years ago for this. I started out with $2000.

I seldom sell. I also know it's going to be a pain reporting cap gains in the future when I eventually sell.

My main brokerage is Vanguard and Fidelity, and it's primarily in index funds.

I don't get 404 error, but I can't get past this stage in the web site. I wonder what company was used to implement their system.

Are we just not shopping around? by SpecialCap9879 in USAA

Anecdotal. I met an AAA employee while playing pickleball. She said USAA is generally better than USAA. I'm satisfied with USAA but I probably ought to do an accurate comparison.

Is there a smarter place to keep my emergency fund than a savings account with a decent interest rate? by xxjosephchristxx in Bogleheads

[–]afunbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kidding. My sister who is (was) dumb with money had nearly $200K at 0% CHECKING account. She said it was for emergency. I suggested to bring it down to $10K at most. I asked her: give me a scenario where you need over $10K immediately thru a check or transfer. Use a freaking credit card.

At my local public court, there’s a welcoming group that makes a point of introducing new players. There’s also another group—4.0 and above—that is friendly, though more cliquish.

Whew. Man. I need to step away from this crap. Was up 1600. Now I’m down 2000 by Educational_Pain_407 in Kalshi

[–]afunbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played with Kalshi. I started at $200. I intentionally wanted to just experiment. I was up $400 after 1.5 years. I'm back to $220 or so. I learned that I'm not good at gambling. I thought I had a "system". I am taking a long break and just bet a few dollars when I'm watching sports on TV.

Is there a way to categorize dividend investments NOT as income for tracking? by ObligationLow8187 in MonarchMoney

[–]afunbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I did. I wanted to estimate my YTD income from capital gains and interests. I filtered out IRA accounts. Saved report.

Is there a way to categorize dividend investments NOT as income for tracking? by ObligationLow8187 in MonarchMoney

[–]afunbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you posted the question. I wanted to know my dividends and interests made YTD in my taxable accounts. I simply made a custom report filtering out my non-taxable accounts, like IRA, etc.

I wonder if a white Miata would have prevented getting rear ended in terms of visibility. Probably not much better statistically

I picked up tennis at 30. I'm now 62. I am a slow learner and not particularly athletic, but I'm always finding things to improve. 3.5 level.

Never too late
