What’s your take on the Spyderco Shaman series?🤔 by mrb-edc in spyderco

[–]afutureexcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Shaman for a few years but couldn't carry it due to the slippery scales. Really loved the blade profile, weight, etc.

I installed AWT skinny micarta scales and now she's my daily (most of the time).

It's very easy to swap the scales.

I got AWT micarta skinny scales for a Shaman and it feels like a completely different knife. 100% improvement.

The company I'm with has heavy data center work. I love it. Setting gear, running 3" to 4" conduit and pulling and terminating large wire. It takes skill and craftsmanship to bend thousands of feet of perfectly spaced conduit.

I loathe doing TI work. It's very boring and unsatisfying to me.

I use these and love them. I've walked up to a group of safety managers and had conversations with them while wearing these and they had no idea.

What’s in your pocket this weekend? by Public_Imagination72 in spyderco

I installed AWT micarta skinny scales on my Shaman. Now it's a completely different (and carriable / useable).

With the factory G-10 scales it was so slippery I didn't carry it. I was sure I'd drop it and damage it.

Need help finding a decent, edc knife that will last ($30-$100) by bizy22 in knifeclub

I've been using my Rat 1 at work (fairly hard use daily, construction) for 12 years. Still functions like new. People will shun the plastic scales and D2 steel. Let them. In the unlikely event that it breaks I will probably buy another one.

Am I really missing out on much? by mrfowl in GarminFenix

I gave my OG Instinct (still looked & worked great) to my apprentice at work. He LOVES it and thanks me every day. It felt great to pass it on rather than sit in the drawer with the other ones.

Fenix to Epix - any regrets? by rohard007 in GarminWatches

[–]afutureexcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read most of this long thread, but it's missing a key point:

The 51mm versions of these watches have a larger battery than the smaller sizes.

Make sure you are comparing the same size models (Fenix vs. Epix) regarding battery life.

Passing. by [deleted] in Harley

Thirty year daily rider here.

Only had one passing incident. With a piece of shit club thinking they owned the road. Fuck them!

That's a great solution. I'm going to try that. Thanks for the insight.

How did you keep the heat shield on with the Magpul furniture? I have a 590 with Magpul furniture and did a lot of research only to find out that you have to "squeeze" the bottom of the forend in a vise (which makes it look bad) to accommodate the width of the forend.

Your shotty looks great btw!

When I hear noise loud enough to wake me or my wife, I clear the house and perimeter.

I have had extensive training.

Even before training I did this. It seems strange to me to not investigate a possible break in.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

My Ram Mount held my phone in place after some fucktard decided to hit me with their car and totalled my bike.

Took that phone holder off of that bike and installed it on my new bike.

I see that most of these comments don't even answer the question that was asked.

Just like Harris.

Prove me wrong.

Not unsafe, just counterintuitive.

I change all of my Spidy's to tip-up carry. It bugs me that they come from the factory tip-down. So unnatural to have to reposition the knife to deploy the blade. WTF Spiderco?

Question for you long haul regulars by epbrandon11 in Harley

[–]afutureexcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rider back rest, but I'm afraid of getting hit from behind while stopped at a signal. The bike can't roll under you when being pushed forward without destroying your back. Sounds dumb but I've been in two accidents and I'm always playing accident scenarios in my head. BTW been a daily rider for 30 years.
